Borat

Borat is freakin hilarious. The main reason we laugh at it is not because it is funny but because we are uncomfortable with it. Have you seen his swimsuit?!?

While Kazakhstan isn't like that we (Americans) are still weirded out by behavior that is not common to us.
Actually, I'm quite comfortable with it, because he actually exploited the worst in Americans that I was trying to exploit myself... So my job is indirectly done.

did anyone here watch the show? It was even better than the movie. Y'know Sacha Baron Cohen's schow with Ali G, Borat and the gay german fashion designer. They already made the Ali G and (duh) Borat movie and they announced the german dude one.

gay german fashion designer
Austrian. D:

But yeah, the Borat film's wicked, and so was the TV show that preceded it. I think I skipped work to see the film.

:p Man, that's the best strategy ever as far as new films are concerned. No kids, no people, nothing. I had the entire screen to myself when I followed the same strategy to see Rise of the Sith a year earlier. <3

I didn't feel uncomfortable like some people have mentioned, though. I just found it to be a genuinely and consistently funny film.

D: I've been corrected.

Nope, I haven't seen the show... What channel does it run on?

@ Katz - Haha, skipping work to see movies... What did your manager say?

:p

@ everyone who has seen the film - What's your favorite part in the movie? Mine has to be where they are eating dinner.

:p

Oh, I had that covered. I was 'sick'. I get these 'sicknesses' now and then.

:( It's very sad.

Ohhhh, I dunno. I quite like the first few scenes following his arrival in the United States (like with the chicken in the suitcase), but there are loads beyond that.

Oh, and when they get caught up in that parade, and they think the people are very nice?

:p

I haven't seen the movie.. don't plan on it. M'parents don't really like that stuff, but I guess I could go with a friend. Been kinda busy lately >.>

yeah... borat... scary when he's half naked.

I might have been uncomfortable because my mom was right next to me during it. She thought Borat was a real person (We're Jewish)

Borat was antisemitic... Not Cohen
Yes, but it was all tongue-in-cheek... His actor did it purposely by the way to laugh at his own culture (I guess). He wanted to show that Jewish people aren't narrow-minded and can laugh at themselves as well... In that way he actually showed that he's the opposite of antisemetic in real life...

No, he did that character to show that we aren't all that tolerant, let alone accepting, that we might think we are. Not so he can say he can laugh at himself.

Laughing at yourself is what Jewish humor is Bul.

Let's try reading my posts...

" I might have been uncomfortable because my mom was right next to me during it. She thought Borat was a real person (We're Jewish)"

"Borat was antisemitic"

Let's now put it together...

Mom thought Borat was a real person.

Borat antisemitic.
