Brewster/Cafe Thoughts

Personally I’m okay if Brewster doesn’t return, but the cafe and good furniture - new and old are brought back; if they add a new npc, don’t make him a skeleton of brewster’s personality (or if they bring Brewster back, I think they need to do a better job than how they made Franklin and a bunch other npcs; none really seemed that interesting not to mention their activities/events could have been a lot better). When looking at what we have in the game, a lot of things look like half ass or no effort like the interiors of some of the houses. Like look at Gaston’s and then Sheldon’s.

I do like Brewster but want food furniture and more, a cafe game or something fun (minigames or something).

Personally I’m not a huge fan of Brewster character-wise, but I did love having a cafe in my new leaf town. Idk, I just feel like it was really cute. I feel like New Horizons would benefit from more buildings - they kind of started off okay with the deserted island theme and you unlock more and more permanent and upgraded shops as you go, but after the first upgrade of the shop and museum the “turning a deserted island into something habitable and established” idea just… falls off. I feel like at this point we should have more buildings, or at least more upgrades of existing structures.

I dont care about brewster either way so long as he does not get a new building on my island.

He will be "fun" for approx 2-4 mins a day for a week or 2 and then never visited again.

The one and only thing I can say I truly care about getting added to new horizons is minigames to play with friends.
That would truly be a game changer.

I think this sums up pretty much any new NPC, if one were added into the game. A lot of these characters that everyone wants, would literally only excite most people for two weeks maximum and then they’d be forgotten. I think the only thing that would be worthwhile in the long-term would be what you had previously stated: mini games, or Tortimer’s Island. I know that Tortimer’s Island and the games were my favorite part of New Leaf.

I wouldn't mind seeing Brewster return because he is a big part of Animal Crossing and I did really enjoy having his cafe and making coffee for villagers in New Leaf. But I'm more interested in getting more furniture honestly. Brewster is only going to add maybe a week's worth of entertainment for me, and then I will be over it. So I don't have this need for him to be in the game like other people do.

I do agree with the fact that he should be in the game. It doesn't really feel right not having him.

But this is literally anything they would bother to add. Has anyone gotten any mileage out of the updates we've gotten thus far? Sometimes I just log in to mass buy the stuff. The summer foods, Mario furniture, ect. Heck even the diving update was just a 2-5 minute a day thing.

I said it in another thread, but none of the updates could possibly carry the game. That's a silly expectation to be honest. They would just be extra stuff for us to do. The problem is that they give us one update that is breezed through upon its release for the month and then everyone is waiting for something else. If they wanted to do this right, they should had been dropping a considerable update every month, two months, or three. Not like making us wait 4 months and then giving us popsiciles. To me, even terraforming is not something I do everyday or even to great lengths.

I think the mini-games would be great, but would that be enough to keep people coming when there are other mini-games that will probably do it better? WarioWare, Mario Party, ect. They really half-heareted a lot of the content/npc they did bring back.

I definitely think it's due to the aesthetic. I personally wouldn't mind him back but I'm not dying for him like lots of people. I didn't really use the café in NL so I probably wouldn't here, unless there was something added.

ould that be enough to keep people coming when there are other mini-games that will probably do it better? WarioWare, Mario Party, ect.
They would compliment the game play experience. Not be the whole experience.
But I think having things to do with friends in the game would bring people back to it.

I know if I was bored I would certainly play some mini games in new horizons. I know because I did this in new leaf all the time.

But I would never in a million years waste my money on a game like warioware or Mario party.

We have to think about this logically. If the Cafe were to come to the game what will it offer? If you look at what Brewster was all he did was give you coffee and sometimes coffee beans when he warms up to you over time. In City Folk he always always offering you Gyroids since he was always a fan of them, then in New Leaf you can work for him to serve coffee to all the villagers and NPCs. So what will Brewster's role be in this game? Well here's how I see it and this will probably in typical Nintendo fashion that may not please people. Brewster could appear as a special visitor by Resident Services where he does give you Coffee and he mentions how this is a "nice island" to live on, but you have to keep talking to him whenever he comes by.

Think of Mable when you first started the game. The only way to get her to move into your island to setup shop is to purchase enough items for her and let her visit more days to feel more comfortable into setting up the able sisters shop. With Brewster since he only serves Coffee he needs to feel more comfortable and motivated to setup his Cafe. When he does feel good about it he will probably tell you to speak to Tom Nook about it and he will give you a DIY recipe that shows you the materials to build the Cafe, similar when you first build the Nook Cranny's shop the first time when starting the game and the Campsite. Once Brewster has his shop setup the only things he can do in the shop is sell different variety of food items to you, serve you coffee, and maybe finally giving you Gyroids but he mentions you have to craft them since this game is all about crafting.

Anyways thats how I see it if that is the direction Nintendo wants to do this. However they do it will be up to them, but at the moment we really don't know how well the Cafe will function, but that is what I am guessing if Nintendo were to do it.

I would LOVE for Brewster to be in the game, but i don’t think it would save the game. I’m more interested in furniture items being added to the game. I mean, we have lots of items but we are severely lacking the classics and a lot of other stuff. I think there are some things that would make at least for me and my island a lot better. I do think I would be quite happy with the reintroduction of gyroids in the game. I think those could add a lot of elements to design.

With brewster though i would have working in the coffee shop again! I just think it would be cute to see villagers hanging out in there. Knowing Nintendo though they’ll take the whole island getaway thing too far and make Brewster operate a juice stand or something🙃🙃

For me it's not just nostalgia. I loved Brewster in Wild World, and listening to K.K while Brewster is working in the background was just so cozy.

But what I loved most was the take out coffee in NL. Just to walk around your town, sipping that coffee while talking to the villagers was just so relaxing.

I used to host a weekly mini-games tour for friends and before we go to Kapp'n's boat, we'd have coffee first. Or just sit on a bench after touring my town and drink some coffee together before they have to go. It's become a nice ritual.

And I loved playing the mini-games, not just to get the cute items, but to see random NPCs sitting in the cafe, walking in or random villagers I've never seen before visiting just made the whole town more real & alive. Like they just got off the train for a quick coffee & off they go again, it was cute! Messing up their orders deliberately is also funny.

I don't care if the Roost will be in the museum or a separate building, I just want Brewster. And his Brewstoids. Not gyroids cuz those things freak me out, but the Brewstoids are adorable, I put them to work in my restaurant in NL, they make very cute grumpy employees.

I just hope to God Nintendo doesn't replace Brewster with a coffee vending machine...the horror...

My question to those who don’t get the Brewster/Cafe craze is what would a big content update look like to you? I get that a cafe isn’t everyone’s cup of tea (no pun intended), but what would be bigger than the Roost (other than maybe Kappn/Tortimer Island) at this point? I don’t see Nintendo reinventing the wheel mid-way through ACNH, so other than item drops/QoL changes, what realistically could be added and top something like the Roost to appease players?

furniture lol the roost is cute for a few mins but i feel like it would get tepid after the first few times especially if it’s in the museum and you would have to do multiple loading screens for it. Like what is so special about it other than it being cute and you MIGHT be able to interact for a few mins like in New Leaf. What’s the benefit of Brewster and why are so many people like ride or die for it?

I think there are two categories of things that could realistically be added. I don't mean to suggest these things will happen (most probably won't), but I think all these changes would fit within the current structure of the game and feel like reasonable requests to me.

Things that are missing that were in New Leaf:
Brewster/The Roost
Tortimer's Island (or some kind of substitute for it)
Another shop upgrade (with Gracie)
Furniture sets
Museum exhibits and gift shop
Gyroids
(Club LOL, the post office, the police station, the hair salon, Katrina, and Re-Tail are obviously missing too, but those seem less realistic to me unless they are a part of a new island)

Things that have shown up in datamines
More vegetables
Cooking (we saw how this would work on Turkey Day)
A few other things that are more cryptic

Brewster, while great, is just one thing. I think a big content update would ideally include multiple things from these lists (similar to when they were adding multiple things per update in the first six months of the game).

Saaame. It's esp. Frustrating because they have mabel visit as a peddler before setting up shop, which is a good idea. It makes sense progression-wise, and gives you a sense of accomplishment and a feeling that you are establishing this as a real livable town. Then other characters like lief and kicks start to do the same, with no end in sight. It doesn't make sense to me... plus it's just kinda annoying not having the garden store be accessible when I actually get the urge to do some decorating/gardening.

The fact its a new area I suppose could be called "big".
But I honestly don't see him as big at all.
He will just be a room to get coffee
A couple sets of furniture would be bigger

Yes, I am of a similar mindset. Brewster isn’t the world to me, but I think he and a lot of the interactive NPC features (or even non-NPC features, like farming something other than pumpkins) of New Leaf and other games are what players are expecting in the next big update.

Lots of players likes new items, but that isn’t the game-changing update a lot of people are anticipating, especially since we get a steady drip of new items each update. A lot of players also feel about furniture the same way that you describe the Cafe— initially fun, but gets old quickly. The difference is that the Cafe has some replayability and interaction with visiting NPCs and the job mini-game.

Brewster lasts about 2 weeks before you never want to set foot in it again.
Items that decorate the island will be seen every day that you play the game.

One has a much longer life span than the other.

Brewster is not game changing in the slightest.
