Brewster/Cafe Thoughts

It would still feel awful to be put in a situation where your choices are destroying your work that you love, or locking yourself out of the full game experience (and probably items too)

But from datamines, it's looking good that if it's coming, it's placed in the museum.
So hopefully that situation never has to arise
Yeah, that's understandable! At least you would have the option to add/place it on your island eventually if you decided to, though. When I was designing my island I actually made a designated area with a "temporary" setup so that if Brewster was added as a standalone building I had a designated place for him, that way I wouldn't have to worry about ruining an area I already had set up.

The museum would make the most sense, though. I really do hope that's how it's implemented. I liked having it there back in Wild World.

I did that too haha
But I had an idea I wanted to try on my island so I told myself if nothing is said at E3 that I would just assume nothing was going to come.
And then E3 happened and we all know how that went XD

Not that it will happen, but I think a good workaround for people on the fence about where Brewster would go would to be the option to have him on the island or inside the museum. That way everyone wins. I doubt they'd do that though.

I don’t know how hard it would be to give people the option but think it would be the best way.

Placing the café in the museum makes the most sense though. If the Roost or whatever it will be called is a separate building, many people who have "finished" islands would have to make room for it. The last thing Nintendo wants is people complaining so stuffing it in the museum is a good way to keep the complaints low. For me, I have a space thats an outdoor café. With the café in the museum I have space for something new and I can also visit the museum more often. Its a win-win, well for me. Also, AC lore-wise, Brewster is an acquaintance of Blathers and sort of introverted (which I relate to), so it makes complete sense for Brewster to have his café near someone he is friends with.

It's just very shocking that at the very least, gyroids aren't in. How many islands would be full of them if they were in?

Kapp'n, if Nintendo just imported his NL incarnation, would be easy, Just have his boat positioned at the dock. I think the Roost would be added along with the Museum shop. Wasn't that hinted at. One door on the side on the second floor for the museum shop run be Celeste unless it's she's outside in which case the door to the shop would be closed and the other door leading to the Roost.

Maybe the Museum shop could work like in New Leaf where the player gets to rent out an 8x8 room that they can decorate while Celeste sells museum related items.

I would have to say, my only fear at this point is we get the Roost, but not Brewster.

We've seen characters like Joan, Nat, Chip get replaced with newer characters, so there's a chance we get a new younger character with/without some relation to Brewster.

I touched up on this before, even though some people may have room for a Café, you would need to have room after having a total of 8 player houses on the island with 10 other villagers, + all the current buildings. You could always squeeze things together, but this limits creativity, and not everyone likes cramped towns. Not to mention the frame drops this causes.

I believe it’s important we get the cafe and that it will change our gameplay…why? because aside from the potential mini games of playing the role of barista, you will be able to serve special characters and villagers alike and unlock new dialogue. The cafe has a very relaxed vibe about it, and I can see perks of befriending Brewster such as unlocking gyroids which can be a big time sink to collect them all and will add another factor of gameplay for collectors like myself.

Overall, I agree that the cafe isn’t going to be ground breaking in the way some fans are hyping it, but I do believe it’ll create a big buzz of positivity in the community. I think shop upgrades and introduction of other npc’s such as kapp’n and the island and Gracie and the addition of the missing furniture series could really substantially change this game though.

Where did people get the idea it was even possible that it was a new building coming? It’s always been linked to the museum I thought.

In NL the cafe was a separate building. So some people like myself were hoping it would stay a separate building.

Yes. All references to the cafe imply that it is part of the museum.
It’s actually confirmed to be part of the museum according to the data miners. I think that works out better so people don’t need to make room on their island for a new building. I would’ve loved it to be it’s own separate building, however.

I'd rather take like 50 new villagers to spice up the villager hunts. This is my first and only AC experience, but everything I hear seems to paint Brewster as a rather one note and forgettable experience. Obviously I don't have no final opinion or verdict on him though, but I do think I'd personally get more mileage out of new villagers (and furniture) over some daily here's a hold able item prop.

It would be nice if Brewster came back, but it's not something I personally want. I'm sure a lot of people would be happy if he did make a return though!

I thought about this for a while today while I was brushing my teeth for work this morning. I initially thought about the reason why Nintendo would create a character and introduced them in a few games, and have them as a character in them, but then suddenly wipe them completely from the series. I really like Brewster and I like the cafe, but like everyone else I dont think it serves an actual purpose except for an extra game element/ place for us to visit sometimes. But he was in the games before so it only makes sense that they would introduce him in NH. Maybe im going off on a tangent here or something, but a cute little bakery added to the cafe would be cute too.

unconfirmed rumor, so please take it with a grain of salt: Brewster is scheduled to be added no later than November. According to the source which the article says has provided reliable info in the past, Brewster and the roost may be coming by or before November in a big update, which is also scheduled to include more Halloween stuff. The roost will also, according to the article, host "old friends" just as it did in the past. The article says that the source claims that the reason we got Halloween stuff early is because the developers didn't want to delay it in case the big update needed to be delayed, so they released the new Halloween stuff as a precaution. We may see a preview of this in the next upcoming Nintendo direct.

Again, all of this info is off the record and unconfirmed so please DO NOT take it as gospel.

Now even though this is just a rumor, I have to admit hearing it has me pretty hype. 😆

I know a lot of people are waiting on the Roost and Brewster to come back (I am to) and hopefully if and when it does happen they do just as much as they did with NL or go further with the content of the Roost. I will definitely boot the game up more actively to mess around with the new shop upgrade, but after a while it will grow stale as I/we wait for another update.

I don't think any one update would bring a ton of us back to the game. It will definitely have us boot it up and experience it, and for much longer than the frozen treats ect, but it still won't be enough in my opinion. It has nothing to do with waiting around for what seems forever for a good update, or how lackluster most of the content so far has been and now a good bit of us are disappointed in the way it has been handled.

This is more in the way of how they would drop a sizeable update like bushes/art, diving, pumpkins, and to a lesser extent the sanrio, mario, and frozen treat updates, but they were so stretched out between the other that by the time one would drop we would had already experienced all there was for the previous entry. Like before diving there was Lief and his bushes. So other than the small handful of stuff available at the time, this was the only new feature and everyone was running to it to make their bush set-ups. Or abusing time travel to get all the art because there wasn't much else to do.

So even if they did a 'big' update and it was like the Roost, Nooklings upgrade, something else, it would bring people in, but not keep them. I honestly don't think Animal Crossing was the right choice for this slow drip-feed update system. Especially when there was a lot of base game that could had been added as early as March 2020. We still have villager emotions and food/drink stuff that they were doing from launch and they're not even dropping them in their entirety when they do release them.

The slow trickle could had worked if the stuff was actually new. That way hypothetically a lot of the base game would had been there for us to experience while also enticing us with new mysterious things that are yet to come. Sort of like how we speculate what Smash bros fighter will be next. That is sometimes really fun, even if your most wanted fighter doesn't get in. Sometimes who they pick can be underwhelming, amazing, or such an odd but cool pick.

That speculation and waiting is great. It's not so great when it's base stuff that should had been in the game and you're just wondering if it will come back. Imagine if Smash Ultimate had just released only the original 8 from Smash 64 and there was a slow trickle feed to bring the others back, but we didn't know this at the time of release. So Luigi, Captain Falcon, Ness, and Jigglypuff could be coming back, but we just don't know. And you may as well forget the others.

I saw the November rumour too on @SamusHunter2 on twitter and I'm simultaneously very excited and keeping my expectation in check so I won't be disappointed if it doesn't happen, it's a very tricky thing to do lol!!

50 new villagers would be awesome, I'm addicted to villager hunts. Though I don't think it's likely, I'm hoping for this to happen for the next ac game at least!

For me, Brewster & the other NPCs ppl missed in NH have more to do w/ the whole general feeling they evoke vs. a specific item (though I really missed my take-out coffee). It's the way Brewster warmed up to the player the more often we visit his cafe and constantly arguing w/ him on how I want to drink my coffee lol.

In NL it's seeing the NPCs enjoying their coffee break and having a glimpse of their personal life that you won't get just talking to them while they're working.

In NL we had Phineas who would suddenly appear when you've earned a badge, much like the nookmiles achievement. We had a sleepy walrus, Wendell in his pjs offering custom designs in a dream town instead of a download from a kiosk. Lyle of the HHA gossiping abt Tom Nook's wild days of partying w/ Gracie, etc. Or Lyle being annoying & popping up as we log in the game & chase us around so we'd buy insurance in Wild World.

Taken separately perhaps they're not much. But added together, all those little touches add to the whole cute ac experience and having so many NPCs replaced by machines in NH I think has made many of us desperate to fight for Brewster lol.
