Brewster/Cafe Thoughts

Brewster lasts about 2 weeks before you never want to set foot in it again.
Items that decorate the island will be seen every day that you play the game.

One has a much longer life span than the other.

Brewster is not game changing in the slightest.

We play differently then— nothing wrong in that. I respect that you enjoy design, so please respect others have other objectives when playing.

I do respect it. If people like the Roost it's cool with me
Just irks me when people act like the Roost offers more than it does. Objectively it's sitting to get a coffee and trying to remember someone's order. It's easily the most shallow gameplay the series has ever had.
Mini holidays offer more.

Personally, I welcome every thing thing that makes ACNH less dull than it is Rn. I’m not a crazy Brewster fan but I hope he’d be a step towards making the Island feel livelier if that makes sense? Like he would add a bit to the things you could do every day ☺️

I love Brewster's café, it's just so nice to go into a little café and order a coffee, then relaxing and drinking it. I LOVE coffee in real life too and really like cafes, something about the vibe of the environment is perfect. So it's fun to be able to do it in-game too.

I've always been very 50/50 where Brewster is concerned. I'd love to have him back, but a lot of that is because I want the gyroids to return. I had a lot of fun with them in the house, and now we can put them outside? I think they'd be just what I need for a certain part of my island. Plus, the cafe itself has a very relaxing atmosphere, and yeah, I enjoyed sometimes walking in to find a villager there. It made the game feel that much more 'authentic'. At the same time, furniture returning is more important to me at this stage.

Also, very unpopular opinion, but I don't care in the slightest about Tortimer Island at this stage. I don't have online so I'd miss out on multiplayer, and even if I purchased the online account again, all of my friends have since moved on to other games. I don't think these would be much different in terms of content than Brewster - used for a couple of weeks to get the items, then no more use.

Everyone wants new content I get that, but its always everytime whenever there is a new update people always automatically assume its Brewster. I get it people want him back, but I haven't seen anyone even talk about like the possibility of brand new characters being introduced. Now I know that sounds Controversial but hear me out. What if instead of Brewster returning it could be someone related to Brewster?

Think about Daisy Mae, she replaced Joan who was the original NPC that was selling Turnips. She learned how to sell turnips because Joan taught her how to do it. To get back to the point it can be a new NPC that is related to Brewster that will setup the Cafe and they learned a lot from Brewster to know how to serve coffee. He/She will be the one to visit your island and you can buy food items from them and they will visit more often. Once you buy from them, they will be able to give you a Cafe Plot kit to place on your island to set it up.

I know what I'm saying may sound shocking and probably outlandish, but think about it. If Nintendo wants Animal Crossing New Horizons to be fresh and they are treating it as a reboot then it will probably make sense to add in more new NPCs that we haven't seen before that play the same role as the Predecessors, but they do it in their own way (Like CJ and Flick). This may or may not happen it will depend on Nintendo if they want to bring back the old NPCs or have them replace with some new ones that will mention them when you first meet them.

I'd rather it go in the museum than having to tear down my ice bar area, but otherwise I think this would be great.
Would be fun to have a different NPC (always found brewster to be a bit bland in personality) and for those who like brewster, maybe he could visit it from time to time

I always enjoyed walking into brewsters and listening to the relaxing music as well as working a few shifts there haha

I still wonder tho if they would even add him and if they were to add him would it just be inside the museum not an actual stand alone building?

Honestly, one of my favorite things to do in New Leaf was to go get a cup of steaming hot coffee from a Pigeon. Sometimes I open up m old New Leaf town just to do that! There is something so calming about doing something like that in a video game. It doesn't give you anything, it doesn't progress you further towards a goal, it is simply so you can sit down and have a cup of coffee. I also just feel like so many of the characters we know and love are missing. Having Brewster back would just make the game feel more like Animal Crossing.

The main reasons why I liked Brewster in New Leaf were because I could get coffee-related items, because it was rewarding to slowly build a friendship with him, and because I got to serve a unique blend of coffee to my villagers. Brewster's was also a quieter place with a very calm atmosphere all day long. I really liked that!

I see why maybe a boba cafe might be a better replacement, but that would probably mean the cafe space would be much more lively and "loud."

It's not the end of the world if he doesn't come back, but I would love to serve my island residents coffee again...

Honestly, Brewster isn't my favourite character either and I didn't really understand the appeal of him or the cafe in New Leaf. I didn't like how when I bought a coffee I'd be in the chair just to drink it and then get bopped out instead of having time to actually talk with the villagers next to me and I have no idea how I was supposed to know what drinks the villagers wanted for the mini game! I was always left feeling super confused, lol.

I think a lot of people want Brewster's Cafe back for the aesthetics - I would love to have him back in the game only so that I could decorate outside of the cafe. I have a little "sidewalk cafe" at the moment that I could easily move to be in front of his building and I would prefer that. I think it would make my island feel cozier. I think another reason why people miss Brewster's is just because it's another thing that ACNH is lacking. Brewster's feels (to me) like one of the easier ones to implement so I'm not really sure why he hasn't been added yet. I can see why we don't have a whole dream suit building anymore, or Club LOL, or the hair dressers - although I do think those could be added in with a little tweaking from their purpose in New Leaf but with Brewster's there hasn't been a replacement, if that makes sense. It's just missing so it makes the game feel emptier to not have it.

i’ve never been desperate for brewster to come back, but i definitely want him and the roost in the game! i’m not too sure how to explain it but to me, the roost has always had such a calming and otherworldly atmosphere to it that helps soothe some of my constant anxiety a bit. whether it’s in the museum or as a stand-alone building i’m rooting for the latter, i miss getting to see my villagers and the occasional npc in there drinking coffee, the part-time job minigame from new leaf, all of it. brewster and the roost really are part of what makes ac what it is, along with so many other things, and not having them feels strange.

plus, i feel like when/if brewster returns, gyroids will be coming with him. i’ve never really cared much for gyroids, but i think it’d be pretty neat to have those back as well!

i honestly just want more content and stuff to collect LOL.

I'm probably just parroting what a lot of people have already said as I haven't read the entire thread, so forgive me for that! Also, this will be long.

There's just something so great about the café that makes me really happy. Maybe it was because in ACNL, it was one of the more fun things you could add to your village. Where you placed it and how you managed to decorate the outside with such limitations could make your town look really special. I also just thought the building was very aesthetically pleasing and loved to walk by it. A big part of planning out a village was figuring out the perfect spot for your café.

I like Brewster too! I liked that he was very soft-spoken and warmed up to you. And the return of Brewster could mean the return of gyroids. I was never super into gyroids, but when ACNH was announced, I had a ton of plans for them. Of course! lol. I feel like if they follow the pattern of replacing him with a family member, in his situation, it will be his niece or granddaughter. I don't really know WHY I think that, I don't have proof or anything. It just seems right! And I'm totally open to that, even if I'd miss Brewster. I would like a new girl NPC!

I do feel that the café, if it ever finally returns, will be in the museum. I'm not very keen on that. I'd be happy for the people who prefer that, but I'd still be sad. I'd like it to have its own building, and honestly I would feel disappointed that I waited so long just for it to be smushed into the museum.

I've really looked forward to having a separate café building and then being able to decorate the outside. In ACNL, your options were pretty much stumps, shells, bushes, trees, and a PWP if Isabelle was feeling kind enough to let you actually place it where you wanted it... and if you actually HAD the PWP you wanted. Think of the options in ACNH!! You could make a standard seating area. You could make a themed seating area. You could add panels, items, and cliffs to make it look grander than it really is and make it super unique. You could put it on its own mini island, you could put it on a lone cliff, you could make it look like there's live entertainment or make it look hidden in a forest. You could do anything you want! It would be really fun.

i also haven't read every comment here so will likely be echoing a lot of what's already been said but - i'd love to see brewster back! a lot of people tend to want him back because of the nostalgic memories associated with the cafe/its general cosy vibe and i'm very much on that side of the matter. plus i feel like the cafe just adds to the general growing town vibe of acnh, although i suppose if it's a part of the museum it won't be as noticeable of a change. and yeah also at this point i will take any form of new content i can get!!

Personally, I would love to have Brewster back. I love the cafe; the comfort, the music, the vibe.. I visited his cafe so often back when I used to play Wild World practically daily as a young kid. I loved it so much, it was a comfy place to end my night after exhausting all the other fun things to do in my town for the day! I guess I like him and the cafe mostly for nostalgia, but they really expanded on the functionality in New Leaf which made it feel like, just as comfortable and cool as before but renewed! Not only am I losing Brewster, who as an NPC I really like, but I'm also losing a place to wind down in with a comfortable vibe. 🙂 I really loved learning all of the villagers' coffee orders and playing the little mini-game (kinda) for coffee-making in NL. I would love to have little features like that in NH again. In general I think NH is lacking in little individual activities like that, and it would help breathe some life back into the game.

For those who feel it gets old quickly or boring and won't add much, I don't entirely disagree. Eventually it's not as novel but you're no worse off having an option like that in the game and not utilizing it. Not having it just feels like yet another thing that the game is lacking, since it still is quite behind its predecessor.

I agree and disagree

If it goes in the museum like it's looking it will, then I would like it added. It's not the top of the list of things I want for the game, but it would still be cute to have. Would far from be upset about getting it.

If its a separate building on my island that I need to try to make room for, I would argue I would be worse off, because then I would have removed an area of my island I spent hours working on and love having, and replaced it with a building I never enter beyond its introduction. And that would just be super sad.

I really hope brewsters comes back. The shop was so relaxing and honestly part of my daily routine. i loved getting to go especially. Not the biggest fan of making coffee for the villagers, but still miss it in general

Well, if it was a separate building like that I assume you'd have the option of adding it through Nook at the Town Hall and that it wouldn't be some kind of mandatory tutorial thing. In that case, you still wouldn't be worse off for having the option, you would just have to weigh your pros and cons before you decide to add it if you don't think you would use it. You would only be worse off if you made the wrong decision for yourself.

With that said, if it ended up being some mandatory installation I would completely agree with you. It would be unfair to force something like that on players who aren't as interested in it. But seeing as it was optional to put in more buildings in NL (Reset Center, Police Station, etc.. I don't remember if Brewster was optional), I assume they would exercise the same allowance of player choice in NH. Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part, though!

It would still feel awful to be put in a situation where your choices are destroying your work that you love, or locking yourself out of the full game experience (and probably items too)

But from datamines, it's looking good that if it's coming, it's placed in the museum.
So hopefully that situation never has to arise
