ooh i don't think i've actually participated in the previous diversity events before but the promise of a star frag... might have to break out the colouring pencils!

My username is on there, to the right of the swim trunks. 🤞🏻

I’m hoping this is AC enough. I drew myself in the Animal Crossing style. I’ve recently come to terms that I’m transmasc. I’m AFAB, but I’m wearing swim trunks and a swim shirt. Some of the details are subtle and you’ll have to zoom in to see them all. You can see my pronoun pin on the sling strap. Also, I do not shave my legs often. Zoomed in, you should be able to see the leg hair. I’ve become comfortable in my body as transmasc, and I’ve taken several steps to become happy in my skin. It started with getting my teeth fixed, and it was just uphill from there. My mom even gave me my first eyebrow pen to masculinize my eyebrows! In September, I’m going to Disney World with my mom and friend. I can’t wait to be able to swim like myself and present myself the way I’ve always wanted.

I will love you in all nine lives

💚🤍💙

Just something simple! A single panel, gay love story comic between two popular animal crossing villagers.. I haven't drawn in like forever so this was a nice excuse to get back on the programs :) I did hand-draw this font, so hopefully I'm not breaking any rules including typography!

(Ps. I made a real quick edit because I forgot my username! So sorry... I always forget it.)

last time I entered I did sexualities, so I decided to change it up and do race this time :]
Pekoe and I are celebrating our heritage together by doing things asians do (eating cut fruit)

I'm glad asian culture and media is much more accepted and appreciated nowadays, especially coming from somewhere that's not very diverse! Aside from all the cool stuff though, sometimes it's just the mundane things and little traditions we all have from how we were raised differently that make each of us unique, like sharing cut fruit together- and that should be celebrated too!

for this year's celebrating diversity event, i decided to do a redraw of my animal crossing villager from last year's event! it was super fun getting the chance to draw sixir again! i was looking at my entry from last year and i thought how much have i changed from the time i drew first drew her. i still feel like i struggle with a lot of the same issues i did when drawing her for the first time. i think i still have a lot of healing to do when in comes to dealing with all the things that come with being black. i tend to stew on the negative but i really wanted this year to be the year i really focus on black joy: being resilient, healing from past trauma and just finding happiness in who i am as a person.

i went with the original version of the pride flag behind sixir and absolutely love the meaning behind each colour. i am manifesting a lot of the meanings for myself and hope to continue on the path to self-healing also lol check out that upgrade on sixir's magical wand ;^)

It would be more a digital collage made of real world photos and ofc animal crossing elements. I can source everything myself (as in use my own photos), but if its more hassle than its worth for you to verify I made it myself Im happy to think up another idea!
I've not managed to get much feedback from the rest of the team yet on this one and don't want to leave you too little time to complete an entry, so I'm going to say that we won't accept a digital collage for this contest but that we'll definitely discuss it before our next arts & crafts event.

No worries at all, thanks for at least getting back to me about it - I'll probably opt for something more traditional! :) <3

I worked pretty hard on this one, and although it may look unassuming on the surface there is actually a lot of meaning hidden within this piece.
It's a collage of me looking over the night sky in animal crossing as the Nazar watches over me - being Greek in the UK brought me a lot of confusion and hardship growing up, but now as an adult, I find peace in wearing my nazar proudly everyday, and not just as a symbol of my culture but a celebration of its endurance (PLUS it keeps me safe!!).
Around my character are flowers that feature purple, black, yellow and (kind of) white petals, which symbolize my identity as a non-binary person. As I've grown into myself, I've found peace in defining myself as non-binary and I honestly feel like being non-binary is the most authentic way I could live my life.
The tree features pomegranates, which are a recurring theme within Judaism; the ethno-religion I belong to. My Jewish-ness was something I spent so many years being alienated by my peers for, but nothing in this modern day could EVER take away the pride I feel about being Jewish. I thank HaShem everyday for the opportunity I have to know love and faith.
Finally, the more observant folks out there may have noticed that this whole collage has been done on lined paper from a notebook. I could've used the nice art paper I have but I wanted it to be an homage to my upbringing - I come from an extremely disadvantaged family, so much so that that plain printer paper you could buy in Tesco was a luxury to little me.

It may seem silly and overly deep, but I am diverse in so many ways and for so long I denied my differences; thinking it was better to be like the kids around me then to be the weird kid. I have grown up to be a person full of pride and faith and love and that will never change. If not for my people, then for the little 6 year old me who didn't know who they were or what their place in the world was.
(A fun note to all this is that throughout my life time of identity related stress, I have been playing Animal Crossing because it always felt like I was able to be the me I wanted to be within the town full of friends. Even as a little kid.)

In case anybody wanted to see, I literally made every part of this individually:

No matter who we are, we are all special, even those with mental health problems. Sometimes in the darkest of times, we’ll just need a friend to cheer us up and help those who suffer from mental health problems, like ADHD. 🙂

I hope this is okay, I tried my best to draw the dog villagers. 🥺

is it okay to send the art as an attachment? been trying to upload it for some while now but i keep getting error message lol

edit: sorry i worked around it by lowering the quality a ton but i hope that works too!

My Entry:

rsz_1rsz_image0_1.jpg

In the words of Momma Ru (Ru Paul) Everybody say LOVE
Diversity is about everyone of any shade under the diversity rainbow being able
to have love and life their life in peace and harmony.
(I made this exact design in New Leaf and it was my town flag)
(Pride Progress flag within the AC Leaf)

not in the best quality as i had to lower it
it has many small secrets, my favourite being the ingame pi-pie replaced by the pi symbol of the polyamorous flag! if you ignore myself on the bottom right youll be able to recognize colours ranging from red to purple (ketchup to bob) to show the diversity in sizes and in ac species!

im happy and proud to show who i am and to support everyone in my community! happy pride and always embrace diversity and who you are!

I got inspired by a song on how to celebrate all the flawless diversities, identities, and beauties that we all share, that keeps us together ♡

Here’s my entry! I chose to demonstrate diversity in a couple of ways - I wanted to show the diversity of people by including my son’s character on the left and my NH in-game character as a Fairy. I also wanted to show diversity of all of the seasons we’re alll experiencing by showing each of the seasons of Animal Crossing. I tried to capture the varying seasons of grass - late Spring, Summer, early Fall, late Fall, Winter, early Spring, Sakura season, late Spring again, and Summer again. I hope everyone takes something from this, and remembers that there is strength is diversity. 💖
