So I want to try to calm down a lot of people with concerns about cut content.
Many things are confirmed to be cut like brewster, Luna, Kappa etc
In the game is only one upgrade for Nooklings. We all know that in every AC there were more than one upgrade. I wasn't really confident about future content updates but now I am! I can't imagine that there are no more upgrades! Maybe it was to prevent spoilers and TTing and we will get some cut stuff in future updates!

Please try to cheer up I know it's difficult right now but that gives me a lot of hope. Also don't forget the guide will be out in april and we will see everything for good. Stay calm eveyone :)

If that is the case as it is looking like, it'll also help us all especially those like me with not TTing hahaha and just take it slowly during this virus situation :') I'm definitely feeling more hopeful with this o/ still super excited : D

I agree! I am also a bit nervous, since I was really looking forward to playing with a lot of returning features from NL and didn't realize how much may not be included, but I feel that the extremely strong reviews the game got gives us good reason to not worry- if all these 'missing' things were truly detrimental to the gameplay experience, then it wouldn't have walked away with all 9's and 10's and a Metacritic score of 91- I'm sure it will be a great experience no matter what, especially with content updates later down the line!

As far as 'missing' buildings go, the Nintendo Direct deliberately said that the Museum, Shop, Tailor, and Campsite were examples of the many that we would eventually be able to unlock- I hope these are coming in future updates!

Please don't bring that negativity to this thread, its clearly trying to lift people's spirits.. not knock them down again.

To add to this it would seem to me they have "ALL" updates ready in which case it is finished and more or less set intentionally to keep the "cheaters" from TTing and whatnot tbh I think they know what they're doing :') so let's keep this thread positive o/ I shall be ready in the next days to sit down and take it slow : )

Also gonna back off after this before this becomes another debate LOL have fun guys o/

Yes! Many things are missing, but from the reviews, almost everything is based around secrecy. There is a lot they cannot tell us and I bet there are many surprises in the game. c:

Ah, well.. I've finally finished downloading and pre-loaded ACNH. Gotta love downloading 6.2GB at 5mb download speed, ugh. Can't wait for 12AM Friday!

Felt so weird buying a full release Nintendo game digitally, I've bought physical copies for so long.

I have faith that Nintendo, a company that has been making games for years, knows what they're doing and they wouldn't intentionally let down the players. we got a lot of new stuff and if that means some old stuff ia cut... then hey. I'm fine with that!

I'm kinda just hoping that this is a "method to their madness" kind of situation.

It does just feel like there are a lot of npcs and items, that are iconic to the series that aren't included in the base game. Like Kappn, Brewster, Gyroid items and Pit Fall Seeds to name just a few.

It's like seeing a clock with no hands, just feels...off.

Though as I said, I'm hopeful that special npcs will return through updates....and that maybe they have a lot of those free updates planned.

Great point OP, I was thinking about that earlier myself!

Personally, I definitely think it’s possible that some of the currently “missing” content will be added later on. Whether they are holding it back intentionally or weren’t able to finish the game on time—it doesn’t really matter much to me if it still ends up being included eventually.

One thing to keep in mind is that the very existence of an update on release day points toward scheduling issues—namely that the game wasn’t fully developed in time for all planned content to go onto the physical cartridges. If things like Bunny Day and online functionality weren’t ready yet, there’s a chance other things will be added with that update as well (like more new villagers and buildings, NPCs, gyroids, or art!)

This is very encouraging, thanks for sharing that! I absolutely agree that the wording (listing them as examples specifically) implies that there are more that aren’t being shown or mentioned ^ェ^

Seems like this game was very ambitious. I am quite surprised to hear that so many iconic staples of the game are not in, but I hope they will be available with an update.

I mostly feel sorry for people who may have poor internet connections/speeds. I'm quite fortunate that mine is very good, so it's a non-issue but I've seen others say they're worried.

tbh, if anyone thinks I'm being negative, it's their own problem

I'm just calling it as it is. regardless of it's scheduling issues or to deter tting (which tbh, I don't buy that excuse), using dlc to add in basic features and functionality means the game *is* releasing unfinished

of course I doubt they're giving us a half-assed release either, and that what is already in-game will be plenty to keep anyone a fan of this series occupied until then

most likely, certain content either finished shortly after the cutoff to send the game to printing or is still receiving the last touches to get it all up and running, and nintendo decided that what did get finished before the cutoff was plenty enough to release the game as-is instead of delaying the game even further into 2020 or 2021

of course, we'll never get an exact explanation as to why they released like this for obvious reasons, but I'm certain they wouldn't do that unless they were fully confident of what is already available from the start being of worthwhile enough quality

hopefully though, they put out a "complete" edition or w/e down the line, because basic functionality being locked behind dlc is kinda gross for the long term. when said dlc content essentially gets lost to time, with developers moving on to the latest systems and dlc for older games ending up inaccessible as a result of support culling. and it'd absolutely suck for new horizons to end up being the only game thus far in the series that if someone 10-15 years later decided to go try out, couldn't experience most everything from it

I agree with this explanation. Seems like Nintendo prioratized certain elements of the game and decided to cut back on some other things. As long as we get some features back eventually I'll be happy. I'm assuming they might have left out some of the later-game features hoping that they will be able to release an update/dlc before players get to that point in the game.

yeah, and they seem to be being very transparent about the dlc updates all being free too, so there's really nothing to be upset about

animal crossing is the sort of game that's a long-term investment anyways, compared to a lot of others that get made with an expectation of you being done with it and moved on to the next thing in like 2 months max. so I'm really not bothered at all right now about stuff missing especially when it can keep the marketplace interesting

Also, we don't know about many many features. I try to avoid spoilers, but I watched some videos from people who did reviews and they said there is things they cannot tell just yet.
About dlc's: it's not like game isn't finished, but it will keep evolving every year. Now all events, for example in ACNL, is always same old, but this mean we can get different stuff every year. It's just speculation, but I can't think other reasons. Like ACPC, there is same kind of events but new items every time. It keeps game interesting.

AND THAT'S ABOUT OFF-TOPIC I'm super hyped. Just 2 days left. And only one night! :D

Yes I agree I think the whole holiday-updating is great! However, I think people are more worried about other features like missing characters and items being added later on. I've heard some say they feel like Nintendo was rushed and is relying on updates to add features that they didn't have time to add initially. ;)

Also keep in mind that we get an day 1 update.Maybe some stuff were cut for reviewers to avoid major spoilers. There was a tweet from nintendo that there will be a museum, able sisters, museum, campside, nooks crany and many more facilities! So I am curious how big the patch tomorrow will be :)

I won't deny the possibility of seasonal updates, but I also feel its worth noting that pocket camp operates on a wholly different business model than new horizons

mobile games such as it constantly churn out updates with new items, characters, etc specifically to bait its players into spending money on their game, with major events and releases expected to bring in the big revenue numbers. their lifeblood is in the money players continually put into it, and if revenue falls down low enough for a long enough period of time, then the game gets discontinued as a result

meanwhile, new horizons expects all its revenue to be on the front-end of players just getting the game, with a good chunk of it being on or shortly after release as well as spikes during like the holiday seasons. which I'm sure sales will occur beyond these windows too, but it certainly wouldn't be enough to justify unique seasonal updates every year either
