Did any of you get the Game & Watch that Nintendo just released? Anybody want to share their plans for it? I'm genuinely curious since it's a bit of an odd release to me. It has new features but also lacks old features from the Game & Watch consoles. I did get one for myself because it is very pretty, and I plan to use it (especially for the animated clock feature), it's more portable than any of my travel consoles due to small size, it's something I never got to play before, and I'm a Mario fan.

It is very well made and pretty too. In fact, a small part of me doesn't want to even use it because it's so nice and a limited time release. I hate to waste a great product though. Mine has been in its box for 2 days now.

What do you guys plan to do with yours, whether you have it now or plan to get it later? I'll probably open mine and enjoy it but I hate the thought of making it no longer a mint condition collectible. I am a collector of many things.

I didn’t get one but I have a couple friends that did. The biggest bummer is that it only has one Game and Watch game on it called Ball. It would have been nice to see a wider range of other G&W games personally. Super Mario Bros that fits in your pocket is neat and all, but it’s not exactly a hard game to get a hold of unlike G&W games.

I agree that it’s a really nice looking system and a neat concept but they could have also done so much more with it imo.

Another reason I didn’t get one was I put my money towards the Fire Emblem 30th Anniversary collection instead. I’m a bigger Fire Emblem fan compared to Mario personally. Though I do enjoy both.

I totally get you, I agree that it was lacking in certain areas and they could have definitely done more with it. I do appreciate the pretty good availability of a product advertised as "limited". I also didn't purchase many of the other new games so I had the funds for it. I get the most joy out of some of the lesser qualities of certain products. My favorite thing about it is honestly just the fancy clock it features since I don't currently have any clocks in my room. I just use my smartphone for an alarm and to check the time but now I have a cute retro clock!

I didn’t get one, but my brother did. It’s very cute and well-made— super light, too. I’m not sure why I was expecting it to be kinda heavy, but lifting that thing is like lifting paper! It doesn’t seem to do much, but the clock feature is pretty neat.

No, I can't justify spending 80 dollars on a video game that was released 35 years ago.

i didn't realize they were out xD

but no i haven't and i'm not sure if i will? i don't know too much about them

Nope, though I've owned that dual screen Donkey Kong one back in the days and.. yeah not really interested in them.

I picked one up, though I haven't opened it yet. I'm a Mario fan, and I like collecting gaming items, so it seemed worth picking up when I saw it for sale online on launch day. I never owned any of the original Game & Watch products, though I did own a couple of the Game & Watch Gallery games (3 and 4, I believe).

My sense is that this is a product designed to appeal to collectors. I have lots of ways of playing Super Mario Bros. at this point, many of which offer superior options (save states, rewinds, larger screen, etc.). I suspect most people buying this product are in the same boat. I also have plenty of time-keeping devices. But I like the concept, and thought it would be a fun piece of Mario history to have around.

I did, and I gotta say that it's a neat little thing. Problem is that it is too small for my hands to be able to play it comfortably. I had one of these as a kid in the 80's, a green one with DK Jr, and remember it being a bit bigger. lol
Anyways, I managed to beat Super Mario Bros. on it so it's not unplayable by any means.

I just wish there was more you could do with the console, it is pretty bare bones out of the box. Still, it's a nice collectible, especially if you grew up with these. Maybe a bit overpriced but value will be subjective.

I'm probably not going to get one. It's a little overpriced for me and I feel like I could buy other and potentially more games with the $50 that it costs. I'd definitely consider buying one if I was financially independent but I'm not exactly there yet.

This is the first time I hear about this. It's way too expensive it's ridiculous. Like I picked up a GBA on a flea market for like two bucks last year and that's objectively better. This redoing old ass consoles thing is just so greedy, maybe our local price is out of whack but why would you buy that. Especially for practically one game.

I would buy it for like the original Animal Crossing or something though, ngl.

No. Simply not worth it to me. The NES Classic was cheaper than that when it came out and has a lot more games on it. I still haven't gotten around to buying one, but if I wanted to buy a little retro gaming thing, would rather spend more money and buy a Turbografx-16 Mini.

I used to have a few actual Game and Watches as a kid. My favorite was the Super Mario Bros one. No, not the one as part of this new release. It was its own unique game that was exclusive to the old Game and Watch. It's talked about in this video:
