Do villagers stay near house locations?

I plan on having my half my villagers separated to go with the theme of having two different factions and I'd like to know if villagers will walk around their houses. Just thought it'd be weird if villagers were to just randomly walk in the opposing factions area haha

Mine wander all over the island, up and down cliffs etc. They won't stay put.

They will definitely go everywhere if the option is available. Carmen walked from "her" island to the "main" island to the "shopping" island, she passed two bridged for this and walked a circle around the island.

I've noticed mine in various places, even as far as the beach. One of my villagers, Jeremiah, always seems like he's far from his house. On the other hand, I've rarely seen Marcie so far because she always seems to be near or inside her house.

They actually seem to go everywhere even if the option is not available! I had Marina on a part of the island separated by the river, not even connected by a bridge, and I found her on the other side.

Thats too bad I plan on making a big river in-between connected by pole parkour. It's be pretty weird if the villager is found on the opposite side lol

Nope mine wonder all around. I do see them do exercise mostly by the rot houses in the morning, but they are all over the place. I always see them gathering a lot near the plaza. There they song, run and just sit in random chairs, it’s cute.
