i get that, but it's a very important issue and it can be frustrating to see people deny it, like anti-vaxxers trying to be different without a real argument against it

I see, but people that don’t believe it believe that it takes a million years for a climate shift to occur. But just because climate change isn’t real (or sudden) doesn’t mean we can pollute the Earth. There are other reasons to reduce CO2 emissions.

it's not something you can or can't believe in, you either ignore it or accept it

but I don’t believe it’s a quick process like what people believe. I also believe that people who namecall others (or make negative assumptions about them) for denying climate change are bigots.

Global Warming is a theory, not a fact. You can’t accept theories as facts. Science can’t explain everything. If anything, we’re more likely heading to another ice age than a heated Earth. But then again, an ice age is more ecologically disastrous.

You mean that you PERSONALLY believe it's not a quick process, although it definitely is. I mean sure, the ice caps won't melt from one day to the other, but even the slightest increase in world's temperatures is devastating to the environment and the ecosystems. Literal icebergs are melting, and thousands of km2 of trees are being cut each day. Tons of garbage is thrown into the oceans, lakes and rivers each day, and you still think it would not be quick at all?

Name calling someone for not doing anything for the environment is totally fine. The world is literally dying and we should all do something for it. Even the little things can help. When little people make little things in something big happens. It's stupid to think climate change is not real, there's too much proof. There is less snowfall each year, and the climate is overall warmer in all the planet. Permafrost in Canada and Alaska is melting. Giant glaciers and icebergs are also melting, in places where it should not. Polar bears are emigrating south in search of stable land. Hundreds of hurricanes storm North America each year. The wildfires in California. The Caribbean covered in weird algae. The cold snap in Canada/USA. The heat wave in Europe. A hail storm in Mexico. Fields and oceans covered in garbage. Sandstorms in Mexico. Rivers full of toxic wastewater. Do you really need any more proof? It's not a theory, it's real.
You say science can't explain everything. If that was even true at all, it would still not apply for climate change and pollution. It has been scientifically proven and explained, not only by one, but thousands of scientists worldwide.

You also say we are actually heading towards an ice age, which is just nuts and farfetched. Like, global temperatures are increasing, the sea level is rising due to the icecaps melting. We are receiving less snow each year. Does this sound to you like an ice age? Anyways, an ice age is always better than the literal incineration of the planet.

How is that even a question like there no believing or not believing it's a scientific fact

That’s like asking me if I believe in the existence of human beings. Almost literally.

yes but people are overreacting about it.

Do you mean they’re exaggerating the statistics, or worrying too much about it?

Either way, I do agree. After all, passion is evil, but only if it makes you angry.

Global warming aside, pollution is bad for the Earth in general. Increasing CO2 emissions means more CO2 coming to our oceans, which means more acidic oceans. Also, more CO2 emissions means dirtier air and more lung diseases.

I'd personally rather angry passion than lukewarm nothing. one at least makes an attempt to get **** done

though I guess at least we can agree on the pollution issue

Who doesn't? The frequency of natural disasters are pretty evidential that us humans are affecting the climate. We all got a huge task ahead of us and I think it's achievable to slow down climate change if the whole world works as a team and not because of one's differences.

In one form or another I do think there is natural climate change, even if man didn't exist. I mean I would think volcanoes would emit so much more carbon into the atmosphere than a aging Carburetor Truck that is burning fuel and oil. Now I do think WE are also contributing to climate change, with all the planes flying around for transporting goods, and all the electronics that are produced (batteries for electric cars, plastic productions, solar panels, etc), but its almost impossible to regress back to our old caveman times since we learned how to start fires lol

I seem to be taking some heat for making it seem like a matter of belief, and I will admit, I have some regrets about how I phrased this question. Allow me to explain, please.

It's very clear that the current President of the United States does not see climate change as a fact. He sees it as a hoax fabricated by China. While I see that as a point of view that is full of **** and I'm sure that many people on this site agree (knowing how unpopular Donald Trump is on here), I just phrased it this way because I haven't seen much discussion about climate change on these threads and I wasn't aware people felt this strongly about it. I mean, again, I think it's a fact myself, and quite frankly, I've never understood why conservatives don't see it as real.

He should realize that Global Warming is an old theory, like something discovered and made in the 1940’s and 1950’s, long before Al Gore became vice president. And I think it was American scientists that discovered it.

If you dont youre either dumb or a boomer or an oil exec

Greenland wasnt supposed to melt until 2070. Its melting now.

Also even if hur dur its natural everytime a severe change happens people starve and die. Europe suffered greatly due to famines. Indigenous tribes in NA ate each other to survive so you know it was world wide. The tree rings show this too.

We are too big to sustain ourselves in the event of a natural disaster that affected the whole world.

I get pissed when old people deny it. Duh you're going to be dead when the world goes to ****. You made all future generations suffer.

Humans won't go extinct but we are gonna have lot of resource wars once the situation becomes dire enough

Actually seething boomers get to ruin this planet and not suffer for it. And somehow manipulate their grandchildren into believing everything will be ok. No when granny dies by the time you're 40 New Orleans won't exist anymore.

Oh yeah or we have a superbug wipe out the planet because profits > health and people are irresponsible with antibiotics and give bacteria resistance

Yup and as other people have said I don't think it's up for debate whether it exists or not (despite what some politicians may believe...)

If you don't believe in climate change then you need to check yourself before you wreck yourself. It's up there with the moon landings and round Earth. All of them are true and there is scientific evidence to back them up. I honestly can't believe we live in a society where people think they can pretend science isn't real.
