No I do not mind at all what tier they are from I usually just pick at what ones look cute, have a good personality and if they would fit with my island.
I don’t choose villagers based off popularity. I chose my current and permanent villagers based off color scheme and species. My villagers are Bones, Mac, Maddie, Bea, Goldie, Shep, Biskit, Butch, Kyle, and Chief. They are all either dogs or wolves, and have an orange-brown color scheme. I consider the two wolves to be the leaders of the pack. I’m very satisfied with my current set of villagers and I wouldn’t change them. The most popular villager on this island is Goldie, and I don’t have her for her popularity. Goldie is one of my favorite dogs and I find her adorable. I also love golden retrievers.
At first I didn’t when I first played ACNH, but shortly after restarting my island I decided to keep an eye out for any of the popular villagers and invite them to my island. Now my island has Raymond, Audie, Judy and Beau on my island. Other than those four, I just kept an eye out for any villagers I might like to have for my island and just have fun in the meantime.
I just go with those I fancy and/or I know I like from previous games. Some of my faves aren't the most popular but that fact doesn't bother me too much, as I just like the animals I enjoy and I don't think that matters too much.
I don't really base my decisions on tiers lists because every person's choices are all subjective.
If my villagers are popular, then cool. If they are underrated, then okay. The villagers I have won't affect how you play, and your villagers won't affect how I play.
No, I don't, I pick whoever I vibe with or I go with random villagers. I only used tier lists for selling. But amiiboing villagers in New Horizons is tedious, so I rarely do it, making tier lists almost useless to me.
No, I base my villager preferences on my own personal tastes. I couldn’t give two sh&its about how popular they are. Raymond is and example of why I would like to get him it has nothing to do with how popular he is. 1.) I am a devout cat person 2) I think he’s adorable. I also think Mott is cute as hell and is one of my original villagers in my NL town.
No, I think it would be sad to get villagers just because where they fall on a tier list. I'd be interested to see why one would only want villagers in top tiers, like are there people out there who are really caring about who has who on their island? Like I'm sure they'd say they're the "cutest" but there are so many CUTIES that they all can't be in the highest tier. I don't know the whole tier list seems ridiculous to me. I thought the same in New Leaf as well. It's a bit problematic in the sense that it could make people feel like their island/towns aren't good enough because they don't have high tier villagers. Also, you're missing out on villagers you really vibe with by just picking ones off the top. I hope people can stop seeking validation from others in the game whether it's by the dumb list or other means. Stop wasting your money on "popular" villagers just because you want the popular ones.
I don’t care about tiers or other people’s favourites at all. I have my own special friends who I will not have an island without. There are a lot of villagers I like and some I like when meet. It’s like your friends irl, you have to have a connection and enjoy spending time with them.
If anything I prefer to pick villagers who aren't top popularity because I prefer to not have the same villagers as others. Like when I visit someones dream addresses and my villagers are there, it's just weird! So I tend to not go for the most popular villagers, although I do have Marshal and Erik on my island at the moment who are pretty popular. I do sometimes consult the tier list if someone is leaving my island though to know if they are worth posting about (for adoption or selling)
Not at all. I actually love finding more unpopular villagers that I like. There are so many Marshal/Raymond/etc. fans (which is fine if that's what you're into), but I never see any Pippy fans and she's my third fave villager.
Nope. I like who I like. Tier is irrelevant to me. I just started New Horizons a few weeks ago and I’m working on getting some of my favorites from New Leaf to move in like Kid Cat, Anchovy and Fang. I’ll leave room to experience new villagers as well. I have Hornsby and I really like him so far.
The only time I cared about the tier list was before I got Amiibo cards and needed to buy villagers, lol. In which case, I targeted the right Amiibo cards to sell to get the mone I needed to buy the ones with ridiculous costing Amiibo cards. :>
