I never really bothered getting villager photos in New Leaf. But in this game, I've always made sure that I get it first before I let them move out. However, I did skip several villagers back in the early months of the game because I was more focused on getting my "dreamies" at the time.
I really like the villager photos, but I haven't collected them from every villager on my island.
All of the gifts I've given my villagers so far are things I think they'd like. I've been gifting them clothing and furniture, and just hoping eventually they'll give me their photo! The photos I do get, I hang on the wall in my house (except Agnes, who goes above the fireplace)! 🏝
I don’t collect them, but I do have all of my favorite villager’s photos. I don’t have any goal of obtaining them before I let my villagers leave. I only have the pictures of my ten current and permanent residents. I couldn’t care less if I had any other villager’s photos. They’d just sit in my storage anyway. I wouldn’t mind, but my friendship level wouldn’t be high enough with the villagers I don’t care for, so I would never obtain them anyway. I hang their photos in my house!
I will admit this, though. I have wrapped random gifts above 10,000 bells, regardless of whether or not my villagers would like them just to raise my friendship. I did this for about a week and received everyone’s photo within ten days. I did this just for their photos. After that, I’d give them items based on their personalities!
Yeah. In the beginning, I planned on not doing so but then I enjoy reading their little mottos on the picture.
It's a sweet treat to earn and no matter which villager I like or not, I always get happy when I receive their photo.
It was one of my goals, I earned the photos of my current (and permanent) neighbors and now I get a duplicate once in a while and it still feels kind of special.
I do not think I ever really collected them in new leaf but I have started to collect them and I display my current islanders photos just outside their homes for when I have visitors over
Hmm, I'd really only collect photo's of my dream villagers, and some villagers I've lowkey grown a bit fond of over the course of gameplay. And I'd probably just place the photo's somewhere around the interior of my home. Any other photos besides the villagers I actually like would just clutter up my storage.
I mean: Apollo wasn't a dreamie of mine before I played Pocket Camp, where he was one of my starters. But now that I've got New Horizons, he is. And I didn't particularly feel one way or another about Aurora, one of my New Leaf starters, before playing that game on the longer term. But now, both kind hold a bit of a special place in my heart. Different kind of places, but still. Aurora isn't really a dreamie of mine, but I'd definitely invite her to my island for old time's sake. Wouldn't be upset if she decides to move out later, though. While I'd definitely ask Apollo to stay if he did. I dunno, I just have a weird islander policy like that.
I did collect them in New Leaf but would miss getting some of them when they would unexpectedly leave. In NH I have only missed getting one villager photo and that was Cyrano. I might try and find him again so I can get his photo. I place my villager photos on the walls upstairs.
I don’t collect any of them because I hate giving them a lot of gifts because it clogs up their house and makes it look terrible. I think I have a high friendship level with some of my villagers, but I struggle getting villager photos from them because I don’t give villagers gifts a lot. I haven’t collected any villager photos so far but I’m hoping maybe I can collect a couple soon. For some reason I just prefer getting their poster if they’re on my island, maybe because it’s bigger, but it doesn’t include their quote unfortunately.
Since I'm finished collecting villager photos in this game I would say it was pretty time consuming because its like you have to remember which villages you seen already and which ones you haven't so you have to accept them into your island. The way I did it was I wrapped gifts that had non native fruit because I was told that it gives them a boosted friendship and it even works on their birthdays. Thats how I was able to get photos before the 2.0 update.
Now since they added Katrina with her special to give your villagers a friendship boost I was able to get photos a lot more faster and I am really grateful for that. So my advice to get villager photos, give them non native fruit, some of the new crops that you grew, and make sure that they are wrapped in a gift using wrapping paper that you can get from Nook's Cranny in the Cabinet. I'm glad I'm done with the photo collecting since I put the game down for good.
I don't collect them. I think I have about 4 or 5 from my villagers which I've hung up in my house, but I was never actively trying to get them. It's a pleasant surprise to get a picture and I enjoy the sentiment, but I don't see the point of collecting them or grinding for them. I only have so much wall space.
I do! I let villagers move out after I get their picture, but I accidentally messed up on this by letting Stu move out before I got his pic. This was a month or so after ACNH's release and I thought he would mail me his pic in his goodbye letter just like ACNL did... :'(
I like to think that the villagers who move out after they give me their pic have truly experienced the best of the island and were satisfied enough with me and the island community to want a fresh new adventure elsewhere. I know their friendship with me has maxed and so there really isn't much more I can do for them!
I have all of my collected villager photos put around the top of my living room walls looking like a big chain
And i always customise them so the frames on the photo is gold as they are precous cargo, Some villagers i still need to collect as there playing hard to get
yeah! i’m not necessarily aiming to collect every villager photo (though that would be cool), but i do have the photos of every villager that i’ve had on my island, as well as a few npc photos. i had to buy a few of them as i let some villagers move out before they gave me their photo in the beginning, but now i don’t let anyone move out until they’ve given me their photo. :’)
Yep, photos and posters. I even have a checklist I'm usually too lazy to update, but at least I know which villagers I have to invite again because I missed one or the other.
