Do you download or stream music?

Either downloads or physical music purchases for me only. I just don't feel truly comfortable unless I actually own the song. ;;

If a song is truly a pain to get ahold of I might listen to it on Youtube sometimes, but I tend to forget about songs I have to go out of my way for.

I buy and download songs off of iTunes. But I will buy vinyl albums if they are at a reasonable price.

I stream songs and albums on a niche music app called Tidal. It’s basically a buggier version of Spotify with much better audio quality. I tried using Spotify at the same time as Tidal after starting it and just couldn’t stand how lossy and compressed the audio on Spotify was anymore. The Tidal app is really flawed though. Social features are very limited, hundreds of songs just vanish from song libraries for a few days before coming back, and if you remove a song from your library you still have to remove it manually from every playlist you added it on too. The offline download sizes are insane too. My collection was 75 gigabytes and my phone was running out of storage, so I had to lower the quality of the downloads a bit to make up for it. They advertise Tidal as having lossless music files with low file sizes, but if you have a good amount of songs it still adds up.

I don't use streaming services. Instead, I get mp3 files of my songs, toss 'em to iTunes, manually add the metadata, and then sync my library with my phone. It's a very tedious process, but I don't mind; it's better than having to listen to annoying ads now and then.

I stream music since I don't have enough space on my devices to download music (or the money to buy CDs/vinyls). While actually owning songs and albums would be nice, streaming services are just more convenient for me; In most cases, I have Internet connection to play music from Spotify (or YouTube if it's something obscure, like a demo song).

Also, there's only a few albums where I like all or most of the tracks, so I'd have a pretty small collection if I went for the physical copy route. :v

I will listen to music on YouTube but that is usually for songs that I have only on CD and/or aren’t available on iTunes. Several songs I like can’t be found in the iTunes Store yet can be found easily on YouTube.
