I noticed many people commenting in the fair colouring event that they find colouring relaxing. Personally I don't at all, I find it kind of irritating. It makes me feel really antsy and impatient; if I'm colouring something I just want to be done as fast as possible.

So, do you find colouring relaxing, or does anyone else find it irritating like me?

(P.S. no hate at all to the colouring event, I know lots of people like it and the lineart is beautiful!)

I do find some colouring relaxing. I do random doodles and colour them in. That is relaxing as it doesn’t matter and no one sees.

The beautiful lineart events? Oh goodness no. The art created deserves far more talent than I am able for. I do struggle to just make an acceptable attempt. I do love seeing the beautiful creations that some members manage. I am in awe 🥰💜

Yes I do! The event colouring events are also really relaxing. I prefer digital colouring than traditional colouring though because of time and buying crayons. Also, digital colouring has more of a selection of colours imo

i think yes and no, it depends. if I invested in a fun colouring book and some super cute pens? absolutely. but i haven't yet, and old colouring pencils and random colouring books i find don't have the same appeal to them lol

I enjoy colouring in the traditional way on paper, but I've never tried on my tablet.

Unfortunately I don't find it relaxing, I get the appeal though! Would prefer to read if I wanted to calm myself down, over colouring.

I’m such a perfectionist that it stresses me out sometimes. I’ve been doing the colouring event digitally and that’s a lot better because I can undo stuff. I guess it depends on the day 😂

I do, but it can also be slightly nerve-wracking because I start fussing over which color would be “right” next to the others, especially with markers because you only get one chance!

Unfortunately not :(
While I have fun doing the Fair colouring pages, I usually find colouring more tedious than relaxing. Which sucks because I have a mountain of unused colouring books 😅

i kind of hate coloring if im being honest 🫢 one of the more tedious things for me as an artist lol. i do crayon art too so i’d rather color everything by myself than use the paint bucket tool (since automatic selection doesnt work well with less-defined lineart) and it takes much longer than i’d like 🥲 i do like shading & adding extra features though! makes the flat colors pop a whole lot and it’s probably my favorite step 🥹

in moderation yeah. I just went all out with that colouring page and it started to be so stressful 😭 but when I'm doing a drawing of my own it actually can be relaxing and therapeutic in a way. 💜

i think it depends! if it’s on paper with art materials i find it to be pretty relaxing. or if on my iPad, I love flat colouring and don’t mind it much. Its shading/rendering everything that usually stresses me out 😭

I find coloring relaxing for a short period of time, and then after a little while, it gives me that itchy, annoyed feeling like the one you describe. Drawing something simple and being done in one sitting can be really satisfying, but spending hours on one TBT coloring page makes me feel like there is a hive of bees piloting my body, haha.

If it’s a coloring book page, yes (with the exception of this coloring event since there is a time limit and it was my first time coloring digitally). If I’m drawing something and trying to color it, quite the opposite 😅. I get nervous of messing up.

yessssss love doing it when i'm really stressed out; i've noticed that it helps me calm down and clear my mind in that moment.
