Do you keep your shoes on inside the house?

For me... I take off my shoes and wear slippers in my home. Was taught to do this from my parents and it became a habit for me to do it. Whenever I am at someone's else home then I take off my shoes and just have my socks on.

Wow okay this is going to sound kinda silly now but from watching movies/tv shows my friends and I just had this idea that people in cold countries keep their shoes on inside the house? I was way off the mark there xD

i take them off as soon as i come in the house, dont usually wear slippers unless my feet are cold or if im going in the garden for a little bit

Where I live in the US, it's not typical to take your shoes off inside. Guests usually keep their shoes on while visiting other people's homes. When I walk through my door, I'm immediately in the carpeted living room and there is nowhere either inside or outside that makes sense to leave your shoes. I put on or take off my shoes in the bedroom, so I wear them through the house. But I don't leave them on unless I'm planning on going back out soon. I will either be barefoot or in slippers when I'm at home depending on how cold or warm it is.

Yup! That’s exactly the case for me. I will keep my shoes stored in my bedroom closet; usually the nicer ones in their original boxes. Someone mentioned that it’s rude to not take your shoes off in another person’s home, but I’ve always learned that it’s polite to keep your shoes on unless asked/offered to take them off (or if I’m in a friend’s home, then I’ll take them off right away). Otherwise, you just don’t do it, lol. I think it’s an American thing, but I could be wrong.

I do kind of wish we’d learned to keep our shoes in a separate storage area, or to not track them all over the house. However, it doesn’t really bother me and I almost always take them off as soon as I’m inside. My house is usually very clean, and my shoes—besides just walking around on concrete, dry grass, carpet, etc—don’t have a lot of messy substances on the soles.

In my own house I take shoes off. I also make guests take their shoes off, with the exception of workers. Repair people tend to be required to wear safety shoes and such.

I keep my shoes on when visiting other people in the US though (note: Hawaii is generally an exception because of Asian influence - most people there expect shoes off). Most times they expect you to keep them on. If they want you to take your shoes off, it'll be pretty obvious. Shoe removing households tend to have a place to put your shoes near the door.

I know it's bad but I do wear shoes inside the house sometimes. But that's only when we're in a hurry or just going somewhere in general. I know it is rude to wear shoes on in someone's house so I usually would take them off but it's pretty much up them if you need to take your shoes off when you're their guest. This is definitely an American only thing because in other cultures it would be considered weird and kinda gross to wear shoes inside.

No, I go barefooted half of the time. And I sometimes wear slippers too. Who would wear shoes inside their house? Isn't it all grimy from outside and bringing them in would double your housework of cleaning?

Lately I actually have been wearing shoes in the house. Since I have my cast on one foot it makes one half of me significantly taller than the other, so if I don't wear a shoe on my other foot I am pretty unbalanced and uncomfortable. However I'm a clean freak so I wipe off the underside of my shoe before walking in the house. Normally I would never wear shoes in the house.

If I want to be yelled at of course I keep them on.

Never, your shoes pick up all kinds of nasty bacteria outside, no matter how careful you think you are. Shoes off, and for me personally, socks off too because I can't stand wearing socks indoors (unless I'm in someone else's house, that'd be kinda weird to just go barefoot like that lol).

Same! Shoes off near the door and then we wear slippers downstairs and take those off when we go upstairs! Also different slippers for using the bathroom and another pair of slippers for going short distances outside :))))

Shoes inside the house are a no no. Except for when you just have to quickly go and get something and don't feel like removing your shoes, but other than that I prefer that shoes stay in the vestibule. As if my room didn't get messy enough in the first place, I really don't need the extra dirt. :D
Most often I wear socks or go barefoot in the house, but I've noticed that I tend to be barefoot pretty often.
