Anyone who doesn't like bats is a fiend >:0

Bat Story! One time at a place that I volunteered at which had therapeutic horseback riding, I found a bat clinging to the side of the arena, huddled up in a ball. It was only just becoming sundown, so it had to of been there for at least a few hours, managing to tolerate us and the horses walking by. When I first saw it, I thought it was a toy, but I brought it up after a lesson and lo and behold, it was a real bat. We closed off essentially that whole corner of the arena and were watching him closely to make sure he was okay and not sick or something, and eventually he flew off and left the barn. I was so relieved, I was worried he was sick ;;

Bats are nice. Any animal that eats mosquitoes (and is not just a bigger, annoying insect) is one that deserves praise.

I'm indifferent. When I was around 7, I was sleeping in my room, when suddenly in the middle of the night I wake up to hearing my clothes hamper rustling in my room. Being seven, I immedietly call out for my parents, in which they come in and also hear the rustling. They look in the clothes hamper an see there is a bat in there, so they take it to the porch and let it out outside. A few days later, I go the the hospital to get a series of rabies shots (no, they do not give them in the stomach anymore, they do it in the arm like any other shot) as it is almost impossible to know if I got bitten by the bat or not since you can not feel or see any marks from a bat bite. I'm not really scared of bats, but I also don't really care for them either, so I'm pretty indifferent on them.

As an animal? I don't hate them, I find them cute. However...

Rabies. I have a rather deep fear of rabies and unfortunately I just cannot deal with wild bats due to this. While extremely unlikely I just cannot shake the fact that in theory a bat could very well fly in my room, bite me and give me rabies without me ever even knowing I've been bit. You only have so much time to get a rabies shot which is the only thing that can save you from it.

If you showed me a pet bat that was 100% healthy then I'd have no issue at all. I voted (other) in the poll because it's not the bats themselves that scare me.

yesss! they're one of my favourite animals and are absolutely adorable 😍💕
i've never seen one irl but i used to read books about them in school because i just love them so much 🥰

you can’t be a Halloween lover without loving bats!! I adore them <3
This.

I've always been interested in and fond of bats ever since I learned of them when I was a child. There are a lot of different kinds, some are cute, some aren't so cute, some are just plain cool. Just something to admire from afar though, as the potential risk of rabies has been mentioned throughout the thread.

I love them! They're like flying puppies! ;v; Except typically riddled with all sorts of nasty diseases, so you know, admire them from afar and all that. It's always cool to see them fly around in the early evening though! Also, as mentioned above, they're an iconic part of spooky season, which is another thing I love about them.

From a distance they're fine, though I definitely wouldn't want to be up close to one, lol

Love bats, hate HATE HATE caves.

I didn't know I had a phobia of being underground (??? not sure what to call it) until I went with my family balls deep into this deeeeep cave. I think it was Carlsbad caverns in New Mexico. We went down a elevator and hiked down a hole and I couldn't breathe at all. I was hyperventilating and panicking quietly but I knew there wasn't much we could do about it so I tried my hardest to make the least amount of a fuss as possible.... But I hated it. It still makes my spine shiver when I think about caves. There were bats in there, and they worsened it a little by spooking me.

But outside of that setting, I think they're cool critters. Don't wanna be bitten by one but I think they're cute and I like that they hang upside down. We had a ton die due to the Texas freeze this year and it was really sad. :(

I find bats pretty interesting so I say yes, I do like bats

I love bats! They’re adorable. I have a bat tattoo that covers the back of my forearm. Pictures don’t really do it justice. Bats are one of my favorite animals.

I think they are really cute! We have some in our garden, they seem to live in a big tree that we are not able to shorten at the moment. I was so confused why those "birds" always came out in the night and just looked different, until one came way too close to my face and I realised it's bats! So yeah, they are cute but I don't think that I would trust them enough to let them sit on me or anything like that. Can never know if they are agressive or not!
