i like root beer, but i think i like the root beer flavored hard candies more than the actual drink.

it's a kind of sassafrass soda, sometimes with vanilla added, so it's not anything at all like ginger beer or ginger ale. but some are made with sarsparilla, and Sarsi or HeySong or other sarsparilla sodas are similar to root beer but perhaps rootbeer is sweeter. the only other soda i can think of remotely in that flavor profile is maybe Dr Pepper

Dr Pepper is my favorite soda, but I don't care for root beer much. I don't think it's awful, but it's definitely not my first choice haha. Strangely, my husband likes root beer but is not a fan of dr. pepper.

I do enjoy rootbeer but I have to be in a "rootbeer" mood. I also enjoy Sarsaparilla, Rootbeer's grandpa, and Cream Soda, Rootbeer's hotter sister. I think I enjoy it more in the summer than I do any other time of year, something about it is refreshing like lemonade and nothing beats a rootbeer float in summer, so maybe that's why as well.

When I was a kid I lived near an A&W drive-in restaurant where they'd come outside and latch a tray on to the car window and take your order(car windows were a lot sturdier back then).They served their root beer in these giant mugs that weighed a ton but it was the best root beer I've ever had.

There's still one in my town that opens for the summer. I don't go often, but try to get there once a season for some.
