I put maybe as I can swim a little and enough to say I won’t drown 😂. I learned to swim as a child and had lessons. When my son was younger I took him to the pool but that was mainly splashing around. I am happy in a pool and normally just float around enjoying the water. I have never swam in the ocean as (pardon the pun 🙈) I would feel out of my depth. I need to be close to something to hold on to. I will stick to paddling in the sea 🌊 💜

i took swimming lessons when i was younger, so i did at one point. i haven’t been to a pool or gone swimming in years (i think the last time was in middle school!) but i’m planning to start up swimming this year

This topic is mind boggling to me. I realize now that I am an ignorant idiot for assuming everybody can swim! I guess I took for granted growing up on the coastline...

Swimming was just something I did. I wish I could teach all of you to swim, it feels so magical to me!

Definitely not ignorant! But yes, I feel you!

It was realising that I have friends that have never seen the ocean let alone been in it, that made me think to start this topic! I am used to being near the water, so I suppose I never put much thought into there being lots of landlocked regions (countries, states, provinces, etc.) where it might be less common to swim, even if there are lakes or pools. 😊

The ocean definitely feels magical. 🌊✨

no i do not. i remember i took swimming lessons when i was really young but i failed the test at the end because i couldn't float 🥲

I'm okay at swimming. I'm comfortable enough to swim in deep water beyond my height. (I did this in the Bahamas).

But like...I'm not good enough that I would jump into a rough ocean or anything crazy. I've never taken lessons, but I can swim on the basis that I grew up in an area surrounded by water and I've been in it my entire life.

I can doggy paddle. Learned as a kid in a pool. Mom put me in swimming lessons after a few adults told her she needed to. I only got to polliwog status lol. I'm not a fan of going underwater so I didn't get further and with the ear surgery's I had, I can't go more than 3 ft deep now without rupturing my eardrums from water pressure. And rupturing eardrums are not fun, been there a couple of times randomly.

I was forced to take swimming lessons at school as a child, and I say this as if it was a punishment because I really hated it at the time but now I am grateful I know how to swim and I am even craving going back to the swimming pool to exercise but my local swimming pool has been closed for a year now. I just want to float in water...

i do know how to swim but i haven't swam in a while and i learned how to when i was a kid. i'm hesitant to vote yes though cause i don't think i'm a super strong swimmer lol i can float alright, but i've only swam in pools before and never in an ocean or other natural body of water. i feel like i'd be kinda nervous to because i don't know how i'd handle any currents or waves 😭

No I don't 😭 or to be specific, I can swim for about 10 seconds and then I get too tired to continue, which wouldn't help me if I ever fell off a boat or something. I took swimming lessons as a kid but I kept failing level one.

i had swimming lessons as a child. i rarely hit up the ocean and i don't go out much beyond where i can stand up. i'd prefer doing casual lengths in pools than open water swimming, the latter is kind of wild

Yes I know how to swim, in highschool I thought it would be nice to take swimming over regular PE, so me and a couple of my friends decided to do just that. Unbeknownst to us, everyone else who signed up for swimming was on the school water polo team, so me and my friends looked terrible in comparison. I'm not fast, but I can keep myself from drowning and that's what really matters.

I can kinda swim. I've been swimming in lakes and stuff my whole life but I never had lessons as a kid. I'm not very confident though.

weirdly, i was a really strong swimmer when i was around 11-12, mostly underwater. but i didn't really enjoy it because waiting for my really thick hair to dry is an entire ordeal and ruins the entire experience, so as the years went by, i stopped going to the pool with family and managed to. forget? how to swim? for a little while. like, i could only just doggy paddle. i think i'm a little better now, but i put maybe because i haven't actually gone swimming in a long time lol.

Yes. I love swimming! Its really good exercise. A life goal of mine among the many is to have a private swimming pool.

I know how to swim 🏊‍♀️ I'm not very good but I can do it.
I took swimming lessons as a child and I think swimming is an important skill to know!

I can swim!!! I don't remember at what age, but somewhere during elementary school I believe my parents had me take lessons that were hosted at one of the local middle schools. Don't swim too much now but it is fun!

My parents starting teaching me to swim when I was still a baby, so yes, I'm a pretty decent swimmer! I love swimming, it's probably my favourite sport, it's just really relaxing, and feels less draining than out of water exercises. I did swimming lessons ages 0-18 though (it was compulsory ages 6-12 though) and was actually going to train to become swim teacher before I started uni, but then decided against it.
