How many of you guys listen to modern music, older music, or maybe both? I've personally listened to mainstream pop music for most of my life, then last year I went through a brief phase where I called all modern music "crap", but now I listen to modern and older music. I've got a Twenty One Pilots album and an Ariana Grande song on my iPod, but I also love Nirvana and Queen. I've been trying to expand my musical tastes for a while, since I want to be a music critic.

I listen to all kinds of music, just whatever suits my fancy. I grew up to older 70's/80's rock so it's super nostalgic for me, as is 90's pop music and early 00's emo/punk music. But I do listen to newer stuff as well. I also listen to classical music when the mood is right, honestly I enjoy listening to just about anything but some recent pop, rap, and most country and gospel, those are my only no-nos, and the recent pop that I don't like is just the overly repetitive and irritating kind. But yeah I think it's kind of sad if someone will discount an entire genre or generation of music because it's "to old" or "to new" or because they heard one bad song, I always try to give artists a chance, like I never thought I would like Justin Beiber but I really like "Love Yourself", honestly I thought it was Ed Sheeran when it came on and I was surprised because I've always hated Justin. But hey, people can surprise you!

'Love Yourself' was actually written by Ed Sheeran. And yeah, I was pretty surprised with Justin's comeback, because I've always hated his music and his personality, but I actually like 'What Do You Mean?' and 'Sorry'. They're not fantastic or anything, but I enjoy them when they come on the radio.

I listen to both, I don't really pay attention to when it was made. In fact I listen to pretty much everything, as long as I'm in the right mood. It just depens on how I feel, sometimes I won't appreciate a song at all and then I'll hear it again but at a different time of my life and I will love it.

Besides early Metallica and early Dream theater, I mostly listen to modern music. None of that rap or pop crap though.

both!
when I'm driving around the city at night I really like listening to jazz in the car-- you gotta like old music if you enjoy jazz music. the same with the blues.
and when it comes to country music, the old days are the best, when the songs were about whiskey-drinking and butt-kicking.
but for pop, rock, and salsa, i like old and new.

To be honest, there really isn't many songs (modern songs) that I like :(
I'm not into any of the dance music, a lot of the modern stuff seems to have the same kind of sound or rhythm to it I find.
I've always been very much into the 80's much (some 90's too but never in public ;))
Anything 80's or prior to the 80's there's a very high chance I'll either have the song or at least like it a little.
I mean I still love the Beatles and Queen will forever be my favourite band.
When I was a teenager I went through a rock music phase and I still enjoy the songs from then even now. But again, none of the modern stuff.

I listen to both. As a child, i listened to all of my dad's CDs and tapes growing up. From jazz to rock, you name it. I remember Santana, Sade, Phil Collins, Queen. Listening to Hotel California for hours and singing along to the Beegees Album. The Beach Boys was fun to sing along too lol. Lots of classical music too like Mozart.
But i still like modern music, pop, rock, even country. Pretty much anything that is fun to sign or dance. Anything meaningful or artful in my opinion.
I like Sia's Elastic Heart cause i think it's deep and you can connect to it from different perspectives. But i also like Turn Down for What! Which can be considered garbage to a lot of people, but man... i find that song hilarious and fun to joke around with friends.
Im pretty broad with my tastes, going even with international songs with other languages, don't even know what its saying but sounds very nice. Spanish, Japanese, Hawaiian, native American, indian etc.
My dad laughs when my ipod goes on shuffle lol.

Both! I think it's sad when people close themselves off to either old or new music.
Examples of old music I like: Black sabbath, pink floyd, stone roses (and also heaps of classical music I won't bother to list)
New stuff I like: Biffy clyro, sigur Ros, Muse, Radiohead (though maybe theyre classed as old now lol), sufjan stevens, rammstein

I like music from some 80's to a lot more current music.

I find oldies absolutely...ew..with a few exceptions. However, I'm not like those people who can't respect the past and not see the importance. It's just not my style is all :)

I listen to all kinds of music but the older stuff is definitely my fav. I'm not a big fan of all the "cool" and popular new music out these days :c

Both. Very much both. I listen to pretty much every kind of music, because listening to one specific kind of music will eventually bore me if I listen to it too much, so it's always good to be able to gravitate from one old thing to something new, or the other way around.

I listen to a bit of both! In my music player I have up to date modern music (ish) and a decent amount of the older music. I would say I listen to the older music more probably because I can 'live' in the olden days xD
