Do you listen to modern music, or older music?

I can listend to almost any kind of music if it has some sort of melody that suits my needs during my mood. I mean sometimes I listends to Chill-step, and then suddenly I listens to this song that goes - L - is for the way you look, at me - O - Is for the only one, I see - V - Is very, very, -Extraodinary - Love, was meant for me annnnd youuu.

I listen to both. As a child, i listened to all of my dad's CDs and tapes growing up. From jazz to rock, you name it. I remember Santana, Sade, Phil Collins, Queen. Listening to Hotel California for hours and singing along to the Beegees Album. The Beach Boys was fun to sing along too lol. Lots of classical music too like Mozart.
But i still like modern music, pop, rock, even country. Pretty much anything that is fun to sign or dance. Anything meaningful or artful in my opinion.
I like Sia's Elastic Heart cause i think it's deep and you can connect to it from different perspectives. But i also like Turn Down for What! Which can be considered garbage to a lot of people, but man... i find that song hilarious and fun to joke around with friends.
Im pretty broad with my tastes, going even with international songs with other languages, don't even know what its saying but sounds very nice. Spanish, Japanese, Hawaiian, native American, indian etc.
My dad laughs when my ipod goes on shuffle lol.

'Turn Down for What' is a fun song! I don't consider it to be a masterpiece or anything, but I enjoy it. I agree with you about 'Elastic Heart' too. It helps that Sia has an amazing, powerful voice.

Older music I listen to is usually pop. Modern music I listen to are more (j-)indie.

I experimented with different genres of music in my late teens, and they sorta solidified my taste in music. I'm mostly familiar with Japanese music seeing as they still have a huge physical cds market including conventions that cater to indie groups (I'm not so sure if it's common place in other countries, but I live in Australia and it's rare to find imported music other than the popular stuff).

I like listening to songs of flowers and rain, watercolour dreams, having lunch on hillsides, melting away into the stars, being submerged in the sea, sewing the hem of a fragrant skirt on Sunday.... is my type of music :3

Most of what I listen to is either from the 1960s/70s or Classical. I really don't mean to hate on everything modern, and there are actually is some music from the last decade that I listen to, but that's very far and few in between. I listen to music mostly for the sound/instrumentation, and in terms of pop/rock and related genres, the 60s/70s hit that sweet spot for me... And then the 80s went and destroyed it. >.<

both, but i tend to be a lil strict with modern music. both are wonderful in their own way, but i prefer 80s music because it appeals to me a lot more.

I listen to both kind of song. From retro, to modern. From classical to rock. From Blues to pop. From Spanish, to English, and to Japanese (I say Spanish first because that is my main language). But it is not just because I like them very much. It's more because without some songs from the past, we wouldn't have a few genre we do now. Or even some songs that are inspired by much older retro songs. Think about it. If I recall, I was taught if we never had classical music, rock would never have been invented. So I tend to appreciate songs from today just as much as I appreciate songs from before. And I hope we can show the same thing to the next generation of audience.
