Still the same island. I thought of restarting several times during the first few months, but I refrained. Instead, I just kept remodeling the cliffs until I got satisfied.
I've only been playing the game since January so yes I'm still playing on my original island. Plus it's still nowhere near completion as I've been too lazy to commit to finishing certain areas.
I am still playing on my first island but I am changing and redecorating it all I have kept the same structure since day one. I still have the same layout/map basics like the placement of cliffs, waterfalls and rivers.
I am still playing on the same island that I started when I first got the game last April, and I don’t think I would ever reroll. Seabreeze is perfect, in my eyes. The only thing I would change is stuff that isn’t even in the game (yet)— more buildings (both storefronts and *fingers crossed* more villager houses).
I reset mine. I was unhappy with the name I chose for it and my character's name. I didn't appreciate that I wouldn't be able to change them even though I guess Tommy and Timmy warn you (I wasn't paying attention).
I got super lucky and landed a wonderful island layout, but I wish I’d picked a different name. I reset for a looong time on a second switch, but never found anything as good. I did finally choose a second island, which is pretty good, but just not as good as the first one. I mainly stick to the first one.
No, I recently deleted my first town like a week ago, mainly because I wasn't as attached to it as my second town. My second town is on the ac switch so it makes it extra special for me since I haven't had a ac console before and I started it June 1st 2020 so its basically like my "first" town.
Ironically, I just restarted my island yesterday hahaha. The one that got restarted was my first one, started on launch day, and while I was so happy that I managed to collect all bugs/fish/diving creatures as well as most seasonal DIYs and items, I was just not happy with the layout features that I couldn't change - location of Resident Services, having 2 south river mouths, my beach rocks, and the fact that I named the island Taco Bell. I did spend a few hours transferring a lot of items to a second island for safekeeping, but I'm not picking them up for a while.
To be honest, I wish I restarted last year when I originally considered it. On the one hand I'm glad that I did not because keeping it so long taught me a lot of design techniques and let me try out a lot so now I feel a lot more prepared for my new island. And being really honest, I think that restarting makes the game really fun. There's so much to do and I no longer feel the pressure to 100% complete everything like I did when it first came out. Everyone time traveling and leaking all of the new items/critters/etc for each month really exhausted the game in my opinion and I think a lot of people would enjoy this game a lot more if they restarted and just played it with a more chill mindset hehe
In New Leaf I was a chronic resetter and while in New Horizons it has been getting better, I deleted my main island after a few months (got the game at release).
I have the same original island from when I started. I'm glad I never tried to restart cause I probably would have lost motivation to rebuild. Sometimes I see other beautifully decorated islands and it makes me wanna flatten mine & give it a distinct theme, but that's a lot of effort.
Yes. Because you can terraform, move buildings around, etc I see no need to restart your island. There's a few things that you can't change (airport color, where your resident services is, etc) but as long as you're happy with those, you never need to restart.
Also, it'd be annoying to recollect all of the DIYs.
I do! I can’t imagine restarting, and I still play it every day for at least and hour I think. I also still have two of my first 5 villagers (Genji and Bangle). Since this is my first animal crossing game, it really is my first island. It never occurred to me that I could try and strategize what layout I wanted, or what fruit or airport I wanted, or what my island should be named, and by the time i learned about the idea of resetting I was way too attached to even consider it (I get overly attached to things)
but I love my island, and have really enjoyed making it. I could see myself redesigning majorly someday. It is really a constant work on progress and I think that helps keep me engaged with it. maybe, possibly, (though it pains me to think of it now) resetting if I took a long break from my island and was coming back to it. But currently I cannot imagine restarting.
my second island, I also didn’t do any resetting, just cause I was happy with how it all came out the first time - I’m not too picky about the base island layout, or starting fruit/ flowers. But I do plan to reset that one soon, and hope to devote more time and energy to it, and create something I can enjoy alongside my main island, and because i still feel like I have to get bored of my main island at some point (right?)
my main island just brings me such joy, and I am hoping by creating a unique new experience on my second island, I can make myself a second little home away from home.
Yes and it's still not finished, there's a few little areas need completing but I'm waiting for newer stuff to be released. I take long breaks now though and every so often will go back and improve areas. I honestly thought I'd have finished it one year on but it's getting there. I've never even gotten a dream address for it yet cos I won't upload with unfinished areas. I'm hoping for gyroids more than anything atm.
