This is just another feature to make our islands really unique from others!
I think it?s perfect. However, I probably won?t use it haha
I think it?s an amazing addition in that, if you push comes to shove and something about the layout is bothering you, you can fix it. But I have no intention in messing around with that feature just for kicks.

What? No! This is an amazing optional feature. Animal Crossing has always had a limited amount of town layouts, despite how varied a town could be, the layout will always be similar to some towns with varying differences (town plaza, etc).
Now that you can literally alter your entire island, every island is 100% unique. Was it a needed feature? No, they could have not added this. But they did, and its incredible.

I think it's a brilliant addition to the game, but the downside is that I suck at interior/exterior design. I imagine I'll create some sort of sunk-in area for a hybrid farm, but other than that, I'll probably stick with the map I chose at the beginning.
Being a landscaper has its perks, haha.
I don't think so at all. I know some people think Animal Crossing is a game where you should have to roll with the punches and accept ALL the faults your town map has, but why should everyone? New Leaf was a major headache not only resetting for minutes-hours for a town map that still had something up with it, but also dealing with villagers ruining your whole plans for your town by moving on top of everything.
Between terraforming and new tools to control where villagers go (as well as rearranging!), the game will allow people to customize their islands exactly how they'd like and allow everyone to have a way more pleasant time playing.

It looks overwhelming at times but could be really useful. I don't know how much I'll end up using it but this was a feature so many people have wanted for a very long time, so I'm happy its in the game. Its also optional so if you like your island how it is from the starting map, you're all set

I'm in love with the option. By the time we earn the ability I'm sure there will be a few changes most of us want to make even if you're not a person who wants to redo everything.

its fine because its optional. each animal crossing game has improved by giving players more control. you can keep your island organic if you want. im personally relieved i wont feel compelled to reset a million times on release day since i can just do whatever i want with it.
Tbh it’s a little overwhelming to me but I’m glad it’s there. I’m a perfectionist and I get super detailed about designing my town, so this means there is another thing for me to obsess over. River and cliff layout!!
So I’ll probably overthink it and spend an absurd amount of time redoing rivers, lakes, and cliffs. Which will likely be annoying and stress me out.
But ultimately it’ll allow me to make my island exactly how I want it so I thing it’s a positive feature overall c:

I love all th customization and modifications you can do on the island. Remember you don't have to do this. This is your island and you can do whatever you want and at your own pace. Don't let this part of the direct overwhelm you.

I'm super excited for it. I'm curious how long it will take players to unlock the modification features, though.
No, I'm super excited. I have hundreds of hours in New Leaf but between the fun there were some really frustrating times where I had to place an item five spaces away from the other item. The freedom is going to be amazing. People were so creative way back in Wild World making amusement parks, pools, etc, all with patterns. We got better in New Leaf but still didn't have the freedom I wanted. Now with New Horizons we can create practically anything! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's creations.
