Do you think we will ever get more villager spots? (even as DLC)

Especially now that the Sanrio villagers are available I'm dying for a few more spots.
Do you think it'll ever happen?

Honestly I don't think so. 10 seems to be a good amount IMO, and the island is a bit small.

But who knows what Nintendo has in store for the game! Hopefully the dataminers!

Don't think so. Perhaps if we ever get a separate island of sorts, there will be room for a villager or two there (like in the gamecube game, where one lived on the desert island)

it would be pretty cool if they did add more house plots, i've still got loads of room on my island and i'd love to have more villagers

I don't think so either, with the size of the island, plus the fact that you can have up to 8 players as well on the island at the same time, it doesn't seem like there'd be much space for more than 10 to be honest :L

True. I was just hoping for an island expansion or letting us swap characters that I'll never use for villager spots.

I have no idea, and everyone else who is less invested in the outcome says no, but I will continue to hope for this, just cause it is really the only thing I personally want added to the game, to be able to have more villagers. Wish I could give up some of my playable spots in exchange for this, as I am not interested/ don’t need to add a bunch of extra player characters.

Funnily enough, while I was typing my reply, I thought how cute it would be if there were like little archipelagos which were additional to the island, so each island has like 3/4 little mini islands off the main one, and you could either swim there, or get the sea plane

If we ever get more island space (or other islands) maybe... but my guess would be no.

It'd be nice if past villagers would wander around during the day, like they did in the shopping street in NL. I feel bad for the campers that never leave the tent.

I wish. It bothers me that you can technically have 18 residents (10 villagers + 8 players) yet I'm willing to bet most people don't use more than 1 or 2 player spots. Let us use the extra players for more villagers!

There are a few more villagers who would fit my island's theme that I would love to add to the roster, but no, I don't think they'll add any more villager slots. I believe that if they had any intention whatsoever of increasing the 10 villager limit then the game would have launched with more villager slots.

I don’t think we will get more. I would love to have more villagers. I won’t be using more then 2 players on each of my islands. It would be nice if you could use the other player plots as villager plots instead.

I don't think its gonna happen. Granted the original AC on GameCube let us had the most villagers which was 15, but since wild world the number was reduced to 8, but then City Folk came an raised it to 10. Its been the same since then, even in New Leaf.

if you had asked this a few months ago, i probably would’ve said no. however, while i’m still doubtful of this ever happening, i felt the same way about more custom design slots ever being added in until they were .. so i wouldn’t say that this coming to fruition one day is completely off the table but sadly, it seems unlikely for the time being.

No, but honestly, it's just not a thing that interests me. There's so little difference between villagers of the same personality, and not much to do with the villagers in general, I feel like there's not really a point to adding more villager slots.

No but they might change the frequency of when villagers ask to leave? Very few of my villagers ask to leave and when they do, they tend to be the 'normal' personality. Weird.

I don't expect that to happen either. The development team generally doesn't seem to add new content that would require you to redesign your island. But yes, they could change how often villagers ask to leave.
