Do you usually follow trends or do your own thing?

I really can’t even think of a time I’ve legitimately followed a “trend”......

Then again, it is 2am and I’m a bit brain dead so I may edit tomorrow, lul

What about you all? Do you follow trends or do your own thing? Maybe a bit of both?​

I only follow trends if I like the trend. I basically always do my own thing because I don't want people telling me what I can and cannot wear. Plus usually, the trend is usuallt over priced.

A: I usually do my own thing unless I get guilt tripped or something to follow a trend. I remembered when I was in a Forum Role-Playing club I decided to changed my character sheet to make it look nicer and other members of the club wanted to copy the format I used for their characters when they saw my newly formatted character sheet. I thought it was pretty cool that I made a trend even though I never intended to at all. So... I guess I do a bit of both.

I don't actively follow trends and prefer to just do things my way. If people say "You should be doing this thing to be cool!" I probably won't do it if it doesn't interest me and most often it doesn't. As for clothing trends, I most definitely stick to my own thing. Related to the clothing trends thing, what's with all the overly short shirts right now?

not really but i mean as for clothes when a trend is big it will be everywhere so i guess i end up buying clothes that are trendy at the moment sometimes. i don't really care about following trends but i also don't feel the need to go out of my way to show how unique i am because i don't follow trends lol

I don't think anyone here just follows trends to be trendy. Though I'd love to hear what someone who does actively follow trends would say. Whether it was for popularity and appeal, or on a deeper level, connection/community? Just to see if they'd like it? To fill void or curb boredom?

I tend to do my own thing these days. I used to fall into trends back when I was a kid, like the initial wave of Pok?mon or the start of the Harry Potter franchise, if those sorts of things count. Since people mentioned clothing trends, that was never something I was aware of or took part in. I stopped paying attention to what's popular back in high school and haven't felt any urge to keep up since.
