Does anyone have visual snow?

Does everyone that have this also have nearsighted vision?

I'm not nearsighted in the slightest. As far as I know there is no link between the 2 conditions (though again we don't know a lot about visual snow in the first place).

Hmm... yea I thought there might have been a connection to that as well. Nevertheless, wearing glasses does help a little.

Weird. I didnt know this wasnt normal. I used to see lots of swirling pink and green dots and my vision was grainy, especially in the dark. It used to really frustrate me but its gotten better. If i think about it though or focus i can still see dots and my vision is still somewhat hazy

Not as much now, but I got it a lot when I was younger and only when it was dark. I?d see lots of red and green specks when I?m lying in bed trying to sleep. Only ever those two colours.

Nope, I don’t think I have this. It’s interesting to learn about though.

I've been reading more into this. I think I read something online where there is a connection between visual snow and multiple sclerosis. With MS the nerves to your brain and eyes get inflamed , and it also effects your optic nerve in your eyes. I think eventually I would need to get a brain scan to get this ruled out.

Hm. I've never heard of this but now I'm curious if I have it.
I wear glasses 24/7 bc I'm blind but without them on I definitley see that sort of static-y look. With them on it's there but waaaaay less noticable. There was also a point in time I had a panic attack that almost made me pass out and my vision was VERY staticy like a tv when you changed from channel 3 to channel 4 lmao (probably due to lack of oxygen flow but still interesting to think back on)
I wouldn't be surprised honestly. Ive spent the majority of my life looking at a screen 24/7. My eyesight is horrendous and I have tinnitus too so.

i am not sure if this counts but my vision only gets that static-like look in the dark; even then, it doesn?t impact me much but i've always wondered why that happens.

Yeah, I have those "floaters" stuff that looks like some scratched a lens on you or something.. entoptic stuff? I only notice it if I stare too much out in the blue though so I'm used to it :3 Not really "tv snow" but yeah

Oh my goodness this sounds bad, I'm glad I don't have it. Sorry for anyone who does.

I have had tinnitus for like a month now though and I'm worried if it will ever stop. :c (I can only hear it in relative silence, but it's annoying when I'm going to bed.)

Hope it's okay I contribute again, been meaning to do so but I always forget to search for it and sometimes I just come on to do other stuff ;x If not just remove this post or whatever.

But yeah last summer I think I got it, at first it was pretty annoying cause I couldn't focus on surfaces(as in I couldn't see eg. what it was as it got disconnected from knowing it and had to feel some) but it gradually got better. These days it's basically only when I stare at white/small bumpy surfaces/walls or in the dark and it's not even dots, maybe a milder grainy TV but it's still pretty annoying especially when I sleep or close my eyes but I've kinda learned to live with it.

I've read up a bit that some meds could help but honestly unless it would get worse I don't think I'd dig too into it since it's individual/unknown what could cause it and in my case I've no idea to be fair.

Yes, I do and I agree it's easier when I have glasses on.

Also to add to my previous reply when I look it up it's, yeah not that snowy/stripe-y or whatever, just as if someone added a grainy instagram filter lol

Yes! I've had it since I was very young—I remember talking to people about it, but they didn't seem to understand what I was referring to—and I'm also very nearsighted as well. It's never impacted me very much, but it's definitely noticeable in the dark, or if I'm looking up at a clear sky or some other solid color. Sometimes I'll also get those little bright dots that zip by my field of vision, and I have some occasional recurring floaters too.

Is this something that can come and go? Because if so, I think I might have it. Had no idea it was called visual snow
It might take years for it to go away, if ever, but as in my case it definitely got better and easier to handle as months passed.

Also ironically enough I don't see it when I sit at like a computer, phone, games etc.

I don't have visual snow, but I have a bunch of eye floaters. The first one showed up 5 years ago and they keep getting worse. Now I have so many, but thankfully most of them are light colored and only show up outside or in bright lights. There are only a few dark ones that I see all the time. I'm really scared that they will get darker or I will keep getting more of them though, and I won't be able to see. My eye doctor wasn't any help and she just said it was caused by aging and there's nothing I can do to prevent them.

not sure if it’s snow but i did have some weird semi translucent circles floating through my vision whenever i zoned out, or looked at a bright sky. i used to think they were bloodcells on the surface of my eye since they were shaped like a smaller circle inside a larger one lOl

Luckily I don't and hope I never will, because that sounds really triggering.
I remember though, that my boyfriend had something like that not too long ago.
He started to see flashes, couldn't see clearly anymore and he got this visual snow.
Luckily for him it went away, apparently that was some kind of weird headache.

I hope it's not bothering you guys too much. I don't see anything without my glasses, so I
can't even imagine how it must be to always see visual snow like that!! D:
