As for where I stand, I feel that ACNH is lacking in content and should get more substantial updates. I annoys me a bit that nintendo is putting more effort into PC than ACNH when you have to pay $60 upfront for ACNH compared to a free app (Yes, I know there are micro transactions but these are optional). In addition, ACNH has a large player base, quickly becoming a best selling game. I just think it makes more sense to add more updates for ACNH?

I’m not bothered by content in Pocket camp since it’s paid content. I’m guessing the ones who usually complain about how much content Pocket camp is getting compared to New Horizons would be the same ones complaining if New Horizons started having paid content.

Well I played both of them and here's how I see it. Pocket Camp is a different game, since its a mobile game. It does have a lot of unique furniture items in it, a Goal checklist for getting different rewards, and of course so much variety of customization when making your campsite the way you want it to be. Of course there is the issue of microtransactions with the Leaf tickets considering that most of the furniture makes you need to spend the leaf tickets just to have them.

Compared that with New Horizons the Furniture is really lacking in that department. Its really shocking because Pocket Camp always is getting new updates to keep the game refreshing with new content whereas New Horizons is not getting that same treatment. Its funny because Pocket Camp was foreshadowing what New Horizons was going to be because it was the first AC game to feature crafting. The only difference is that in Pocket Camp you would earn materials by helping out villagers and doing certain tasks on your goal list to get them, whereas New Horizons you have to use your tools to get the materials.

So in terms of content Pocket Camp wins because it has more variety of furniture and customization for your campsite to work with, New Horizons doesn't really offer too much Furniture considering that most of it is "island variant" and there is some craftable furniture here and there, but sometimes it cannot be customized.

Can't say I'm bothered at all by pocket camp
Different people make it
There are micro transactions and I'm sure people spend much more on that game than they did for the one off payment that's new horizons

To me they aren't all that comparable

I don’t care if it has less updates and content than ACPC since this game is not a gacha game like ACPC. I am disappointed with the updates as just an AC games. Some of the items were good like the grape dish and berliner, others I was indifferent and appreciated just being more items for the game, but for the most part I feel like they keep giving us knick knacks or items that they could have given us later and instead have something that we don’t have a lot of (like two tile tables/desks that aren’t low to the ground like coffee tables; I know a lot of people wants more houseplants). Also, I feel like effort put into making the new events (and the interior design of villager homes) was kinda half-assed in my opinion. Halloween was great, Toy Day was cute but too short. Harvest Festival was promising but aside for taking screenshots, it felt underwhelming to me.

I have only recently given PC a go and I was amazed by the amount of items! Even without customization, it is so much easier to go for a certain style than it is in NH and I have to admit, I wish NH had that many items, especially furniture for interior design. It seems like NH is going for a more realistic style while PC can be whatever you want it to be. However, apart from the items, I thought PC was a little lackluster and not very interesting. I also don't enjoy the villagers, but that's probably due to the fact that the game automatically installed in my native language and the dialogue there is very, very cringey.

I feel like the word content is being confused with what is items, cause sure pc has more items but nh has more content.
According to Google content can mean 3 different definitions:
"1 : something contained —usually used in plural the stomach contents. 2 : the subject matter or symbolic significance of something — see latent content, manifest content. 3 : the amount of specified material contained the sulfur content of a sample."

I don’t think it’s accurate to say PC has more content than NH. It has more items, yes, but certainly not more content PC cycles the same three events every month with only the aesthetics and prizes of the events changing.

Either way it doesn’t bother me. PC was good for me as I waited for NH to release, but after that it’s been impossible for me to enjoy knowing I have a way better game. Would it be cool to have the PC items in NH? Absolutely. Do I understand why they aren’t? Absolutely.

I don't think "bother" is the word I'd use in this context because I'm aware Pocket Camp and New Horizons aren't the same kind of game. However, it does bother me that, as a whole, I've felt that New Horizons has not delivered what I think an Animal Crossing is supposed to deliver. I'm not going to go in depth because that's not the topic of this thread and also because I've mentioned it like a million times.

Well the only time when you can have PC items in NH was when you can link your Nintendo Switch account with Pocket Camp and you can actually get the PC items in NH when you go to the Nook Shopping under the "Promotion" tab.

I never played Pocket Camp, so I really can't vote in that regard. Mine is that the updates as of now are less than what I was expecting when I first got into the game. Designing was never the absolute reason why I got into AC. It was there and fun to dabble in now and then. Most of the other stuff has taken a backseat for designing.

Also we have pumpkins to grow, but they're just going to stop there? It feels like such a missed opportunity.

I didn't want it to bother me cause I know the games are completely different styles but it still bugs me a little. A new furniture set drops each month in PC and that's what I enjoy about animal crossing is the design aspect & items. PC is super boring activity wise but dang those items are fancy.

I don’t like pocket camp at all. I have never liked it. Played it for like a day or two after it first came out. There’s not many things to do there and it seems like a bit repetitive. I also don’t like time locks, and some activities required that you wait. For someone that is an avid time traveler, that wasn’t something I liked.

I kind of liked that I had complete control of changing the villagers clothing in pocket camp though.
Item wise, I do think they have amazing furniture. It bothers me that new horizons and new leaf don’t have as many gothic, spooky, creepy variations that pocket camp has.

Not really, simply because they're two different games, made by two different teams, on two vastly different platforms. I always welcome new furniture and items and I hope we definitely get more, but I always knew that NH would never have the same support as PC; PC is a game riddled with micro transactions, while NH is a one-time buy, so obviously they'll support PC way more.

And while yes, you could get a decent amount of PC items for free, if you're someone who enjoys collecting every set, good luck doing that without paying.

I understand that the games are completely different. However, I wouldn’t mind if they added micro transaction for more items. I would only be buying what I like anyways. I thought I would mind it before, but when I get down and think about it, I realize I do this all the time ( ex: The Sims and all their expansion packs ).

I don’t think it’s going to over happen in the animal crossing main games, but just saying I wouldn’t mind if they did 😅

Honestly, yeah, I'm kind of bitter that Pocket Camp gets more updates than the main series. When Pocket Camp was first announced I assumed they were using assets from the new game, but it basically just split the development teams in half.

It doesn't bother me, but part of my disappointment in what New Horizons does poorly is related to what Pocket Camp does well.

Even though I prefer NH overall to PC, there always seems to be something going on in PC in a way that NH doesn't have. I wish NH had more of a living game structure that could make the game feel different from week-to-week. Even though it utilizes the clock, it doesn't feel connected to real time the way other contemporary games do.

Pocket Camp also seems to have more of a social/community aspect to it that NH is missing. An in-game online marketplace in NH like PC has would be amazing. An easier way to meet players online is also needed. PC is still quite limited in this regard, but it's further ahead than NH at this point.

I understand the mobile/console structure is different between the two games, but there are other console games that have an online hub and regular events. I don't think it's far-fetched to want these things in a console AC game, and I think Nintendo is actually behind the curve on many things right now.

no, because that's the nature of both games. one costs money up front and all additional content is free; one is a f2p mobile game that depends on new content to generate revenue to offset their initial costs. my disappointment with acnh is independent of acpc.

Not really. I don't think a constant influx of items would suit ACNH that well. ACPC is a faster-paced game, so you need the new content to keep the game fresh (in addition to earning profits). ACNH is much more laid-back and has a different focus, so the slower pace suits it. I think it could use a little more love sometimes, but I don't think that they've given us is severely lacking. I like how the game makes you think about how you can use pieces multiple ways.

I also find that, in ACPC, you need furniture that's more context-specific since the decorating space is so limited. In ACNH, you have greater freedom to build exactly what you want.
