DON'T OVERPAY FOR OCTOPI

We all know the Octopi. they are the least populated species in the game. but how mystery islands work may change how much you're gonna pay for them.
This is how mystery islands work-
They choose a random SPECIES of villager
there are 35 different species, which means you have a 1/35(2.8%) percent chance to have an octopus
Then they choose a random villager in that species. so in the case of the octopus, you have a 33% chance to get a specific one.

I, however, have run into 4 octopus encounters, and in all, have spent only around 50-60 NMT in the entire game. so if you are going for one specific octopus, I recommend spending less than 30 NMT

I like them all. I didn’t really care for Zucker or Octavian in NL, but I found Zucker at the beginning and he grew on me. Ended up running into Marina shortly after and decided I wanted to get Octavian. It was perfect because I wanted a new cranky this time and he just looks the part.

one time I bought 2 NMT, spent them, and they WERE BOTH ZUCKER AND MARINA!
I have Zucker and Octavian on my island, had Marina for a while, found her again, and ditched her on the mystery island.

I found Zucker on a mystery island, invited him, and he's now become one of my most loved islanders.

At first, I was hesitant. I know he's modeled after the takoyaki but, every time I saw that toothpick in his head, I would think about how I could remove it, because it looked painful. Am I the only one who thought that? I've gotten used to it now. Even though Zucker's a lazy personality like my Claude, his conversations are a little different, and I like that. I caught him singing, for the first time, at the plaza today. Too cute.

I have Zucker on my island, but on my island hoping adventure I did stumble upon lots of Marina and Octavian. But I still think its fair for people to pay for them, as they are not wasting their time playing roulette with villagers. some people don't like the uncertain factor and you could end up having bad rng.

I always advice people to buy their villagers if they really want them from someone, not rely on islands.

i literally got Marina on my 2nd mystery island lol, wasnt even trying to get her but kept her because she was in my NL town

In my 25NMTs run, I found Octavian twice and Zucker, yeah octopi are now considered the most common species despite being the least populated (only due to the fact that you would encounter these three more often than let's say Raymond who's fighting with other 20+ cats)

Groucho broke my heart when he moved off the island (I miss your terrible singing, bb) but Octavian is helping me pick up the pieces. He looks like an angry red pimple walking around my town and that is part of his charm!

yea yesterday I saw ppl in youtube comments under an island hopping video talking about how octopuses are the rarest

I like Zucker, but I'm bias since I had Octavian in first Animal Crossing game, which introduced me to K.K. D&B. I already knew what D&B was, so the fact that it was in the game made meeting him an even better experience.

I like all 3, and currently have all of them. I randomly bumped into Zucker and Marina when I was only using a few nmt at the time, which was neat, and then I got octavian for like 10nmt or something online. They're all so cute though

They do seem to be the most common finds on the islands, which makes me not like them as much as I used to when they were considered rare.

They were common for me until I actually want them, Found Octavian a few days ago but have had no luck finding the other two. Back to grinding for Nook Miles so I can continue my search.
