Yeah I think I've also been to over 50 islands and I've only ever seen Zucker and Octavian once each, and I've never seen Marina.

I have been to about 150 islands and Maria has been the Villager that has popped up the most..about 8 times maybe?

Groucho broke my heart when he moved off the island (I miss your terrible singing, bb) but Octavian is helping me pick up the pieces. He looks like an angry red pimple walking around my town and that is part of his charm!

ya know, theres a way around paying for villagers as long as you have a friend that has the card or action figure for them. i have a friend that will boot out a wanted villager and give them to me and then spawn them back up into their game. just saying, you dont have to pay...you just have to have a nice friend that buys junk lol

That is interesting! I didn't know there were set values. I just figured that it was randomly picked from the entire pool of villagers, not species first. I got Marina as I think the villager right after my obligatory smug, and I think I spent less than 10 NMT on that trip (although that's how it's been for all of my villagers- the perks of being easily impressed by villager designs haha).

I got all my octopi from people rather than the game. Ipent ab 60 nmt total bc that was all I had. I got one for free and one for tbt! I can't quite remember if i tipped the freebie but all I spent was 60-70 total and i love them all sm

i came across zucker when i was looking for my last 4, thought he looked unique(it's been a loooong time since i played city folk) and grabbed him. read about octavian and his alien house, so grabbed him when i was looking for a replacement for one of my extremely rare move-outs... day before i someone asked to move and i was like see yah! this time i wanted a wolf(got skye), and came across marina 2x.

I'm trying to get all three on my island, I currently have both Octavian and Marina, I just really like the look of all three of them, though my mum thinks Octavian is really ugly and Marina is really cute.
It took me about 20-30 NMT to get Octavian, I can't really remember, while with Marina it took me about 32-36 NMT.

Marina is my favorite octopus (even though I let Cookie kick her out lol). Zucker is okay but Sherb is my preferred lazy. Octavian looks like his face is swollen from being punched.

A 2.8% chance still means one octopus per ~35 tickets. From there its a 33% to get your specific. This means on average, you'll be using 50 or so tickets to find the specific octopi. People who get 3 octopi in 30 are just using an anomaly to justify devaluing them. You're still talking less than 3% chance to find one.
