Dream villagers and why you chose them?

My only dream villagers were Nate and Freckles and that’s from previous experience in the older games.

I have a list of villagers I aim for... so I have more than 10 on the list... those that I really end up liking will stay. So, I'll list my 10 dreams (I think are the best of the best), and then in a spoiler the others that I have interest or I think may take their place once I can compare them because I have high interest in them.
Basically I'm just building an island right now of absolute favorites.

My dream villagers that I needed on my island was Ed as he was my day one villager in New Leaf and Muffy as she was in my sisters town and no matter how much I visited her she never came to live in my town

So, at first I have to say I'm planning for an Asian island with some technological parts, like a futurist city, and more traditionnal. So my dreamies are some villagers I love and some who fits with my theme.

Drago: He's kind of Chinese dragon. He face is really cute, or not. I don't really know lol. But he fits the theme and it's perfect.
Rocket: I don't know yet her role in my future city but she's one of my favorites and I have to take her home. I'll reset till I have her on my island at first (or my jock dreamie)
Petri: One of the only snooty I like. I love her theme so she will run a pharmacy for sure.
Kabuki: I know he's not Chinese but I love his appareance and theme. Theater is very nice (Shino have this theme too) and I hope he will feel good on my island!
Ruby: Moon rabbit, that's all. Her face is really cute.
Sasha: Ruby's lover. I don't know if she will like him after a while or if his little heart will be broken, but I find them cute together.
Lily: I dreamed of this villager. I need her on my island. First time for me. She is just so cute!!
Rory: Asian lion, Asian creature. Some says Japanese, others Chinese, I don't really care. I know what he looks like and it's enough.
Cephalobot: For technological part of my island he's quite perfect. One of the only smugs I appreciate.
Alice: Big crush on her, at first I didn't like her at all but I look again and again at her and I now want to welcome her on my island.

My current dream villagers:
Diana - My #1 favorite since NL days, ever so classy in looks and personality. Was overjoyed when I finally reunited with her, and seeing her reminiscing the past so often makes it all more endearing now.
Phoebe - By far my favorite sisterly, I liked how they took creative liberties with her by basing her off a phoenix. Missed her dearly when she was gone on my NL town, so I made sure to keep her around this time.
Flora - Her being a cute and upbeat flamingo stood out to me. She's also one of my NL mainstays, and I liked her too much to consider other peppies.
Apollo - Favorite cranky since WW, really enjoyed him on NL and would welcome him again.
Jacques - Liked his DJ concept and he was my NL wingman, I had to take him when he appeared on my Apollo/Diana/Ione search.
Ione - Really liked her overall concept but what sealed the deal to me is when I saw how precious she actually is in-game, even if it's only on HHP so far.

Other villagers I also have:
Beau - He was the first lazy villager I actually liked in the early-game reset, so I invited him. Plus, NH's lazy dialogue actually fits him, so that's a bonus.
Tiansheng - Was running out of NMTs and time before autofill happened when I got him, and being a walking Monkey King reference was enough reason for me to take him.
Whitney - I actually quite liked her, but I was initially only aiming for Diana as my snooty. As I was running out of time, I met her, and since she was too good to pass, I took her in.

I've gotten everyone except Apollo and Ione for now, and I'm waiting to swap Tipper and Eugene for them (no hard feelings for those two, just that they were autofills so they have to go).
After Apollo and Ione, I might go for Skye (another NL favorite), Fauna, or Dobie (liked how he actually looks like an old man), though I'm leaning towards Dobie more. I might also consider pulling a Marshal if I saw Raymond (keeping him because he's the most popular guy around).

As for why I didn't really try for my other NL dreamies:
Erik - Beau came first when I was picking a lazy villager. He's still very dear to me though, and is currently staying on his mountain vacation home I made for him.
Marina - I have a policy of different subtypes for duplicate personalities, and she unfortunately has the same subtype as Ione, so I had to pass her on my island this time. Instead, I made her a vacation home and she's now my hospital's receptionist to Petri's doc.
Sparro - I currently have Tiansheng, and I'm still not sure if I will keep him after I get his pic, but if I let him go, Sparro will take his place.

I'll be honest all my villagers came into my life, only Sasha was a dreamie, love at first sight, the rest were never really dreamies.

Kid Cat: Favorite villager of all time. When I first saw him during my friend and I playing Amiibo fest, I loved him.

Marshal: I scanned in his amiibo for my story island, and never expected to love him so much as I do

Chief: Found on an island, I wanted a wolf. Saw a picture online about him being the LGBT wolf. He still looks more like a fox to me. I ran into him twice in my hunt so I took him.

Sherb: I was getting tired of island hopping and came across him. So I thought *Why not*. On my current island he was the autofill villager for Lazy.

Static: My friend had him and I thought he was super cool. So I used her amiibo to get him.

Raymond: I made a post here on a whim about Mr doctor cat for fun. Not expecting anything. But I did, and me and Balloon fight had a long night transfering him.

Lopez: I had too. I got his amiibo in my deer amibo sprea. I decided to see him in the campsite and I knew I wanted him as soon as I saw him.

Bruce: Same as Static. But my current Bruce I had to island hop for. He was the third ticket.

Toby: I never really liked him at first, but after putting him in Sasha's story and seeing the two in hhp together. I decided to move him in. I'm very happy with him now.

Sasha: Dreamie. I had to have him. It was a must. I adore him so much.

Here are my dreamies and the reasons they are part of the list:

Jay - My first dreamie. He was the first jock villager I got in my first town ever in WW. I did start not liking him much but it slowly turned into love. Because of the core of it all there was curiosity and the fact that he didn't seem to get along with the other villagers. I related at the time. He challenged my character to collect fossils, gave me things to do. I had to choose between the museum and him. It was fun. And at the end he was the first one to give me his picture and visit my characters home so I experienced all those feature first with him. Recently he got himself a romantic interest which is Marlo. Yeah I am as shocked as you are, I didn't know Marlo was his type. Since the very beginning Jay had never been interested in anyone besides my character and had a close group of friends. There were a few villagers that developed crushes on Jay like Bonbon but he was not having it. Then he met Marlo and set his goals on the mafia boss. I never seen the bird so interested in another character before. They went from enemies to lovers. Once again Jay had another character arc and he keeps on delivering. He can't be beat. He's my favorite.

Roscoe - Like Jay he was in my first town but moved in later. It impressed me how he came out as a jerk but me already having learned that with Jay I gave him a chance. When the opened up he was so sensitive and honest I loved him. Later in New Leaf he fell in love with Velma so he had his own character arc. It's a shame new horizons doesn't let me have more villagers because I would bring him back if I could. For now I imagine he is happy with Velma somewhere.

Agent S - She was one of the last villagers I had in my WW experience. She was my introduction to the hero villagers that I find pretty cool. Became big friends with Jay after WW and into NL. She likes to be friends with everybody so she really doesn't have any strong bonds with anyone. So far she has no romantic partners but more recently in NH she really likes to make it clear she admires my character. xD

Velma - I met Velma in NL. She was my first snooty in that game and the first one I actually tolerated. She fell in love with Roscoe and they were the more wholesome couple in the game. No dramas, just a healthy old relationship.

Zell - My first experience with a smug villager and the best one. In NL he became friends with Muffy and Jay. Those three were a trio in New Leaf. Eventually Zell and Muffy became a thing. It was not as peaceful as Roscoe and Velma but it quickly became a very stable relationship. Unlike Roscoe and Velma who kept to themselves Zell and Mufy acted like the parents of the town doing their best to solve town dramas and problems.

Muffy - My first experience with a big sister villager and the best one. She became closer with Jay but especially Zell. Like I said before her and Zell became a power couple. While Zell was closer with Jay as friends, Muffy became closer to my character. She did act like a big sister to me. I would always come to her when I got a bee sting and she would fix it right up.

Lyman - I hated him so much at first. In NL he placed his house right next to mine and he would not leave me alone! xD I never had such a clingy villager before. He was so jealous of Jay. In NL I ended moving him out as I was tired of his constant attention but as the months passed I started to miss the drama he brought. Then came NH and guess who was my first jock there, that's right! Lyman was back to haunt me again. But this time it was welcomed. I come to love him a lot and appreciatte the attention. He loves my character lots! Now with Jay and Marlo being a thing guess he became less bitter of Jay and didn't waste his chance to get to know my character better. He is going through his character redemption arc.

Kiki - She is the dreamie that has a less compelling story to her. The only reason she is around is because she is a black cat and I have a female black cat at home that I love very much. So I project her personality into Kiki. Plus she is a normal personality and I like having all personalities on my island. I really want Kiki to have her character arc like the others did but so far nothing and with the new directions the games are taking I doubt it. But I still have hopes for her! For me normal villagers are really that normal and boring.

Marlo - He is the most recent dreamie and he came as a surprise. NH was the last game I expected for me to have a new dreamie much less Marlo. When I saw his announcement I was like "Mafia themed again? What is it with japanese and mafia themed characters?!". I was not a fan or cared. I went to explore island during the new update and see who would show up, Marlo was the first one to show up. I let him on my island and it was then that drama started. He tried to take over the town, became a rival to my character and fell in love with Jay while trying to make me jealous. And let me tell you it was the most dramatic love story I ever witness. While those I mentioned before like Roscoe and Velma had a very smooth, peaceful and mature transition for Marlo and Jay it was a mess. I just wanted them to stop bickering and kiss already. And Jay did just that because he gets what he wants. I didn't expect Jay of all people to convert Marlo into an ally but here we are. Since having Jay around, Marlo soften up a bit but he is so protective of Jay. The relationship is a bit better now but a little rocky here and there. I really hope they stick together because how they got together was one of the most funny experiences I had in NH and that is saying something.

Raddle - He's a weird one. I had him for a short while in NL but he really developed in NH. Like all lazy villagers he has that odd lazy dialogue. After Marlo he was the town villain for a short while before Raymond came in. He became close with Petri really quick and they became a thing. It was so quick that the relationship is very fragile. They have broken up and gotten back together. But I love them together. They are both weird so perfect for each other.

Petri - I moved her in at the same time as Raddle and they quickly became a couple. She is a menace. Makes me miss snooty villagers like Velma that never cause me problems. But her messing with everyone has brought a lot of interesting events to the island. She found a partner in crime in Raddle and later Raymond. I got a feeling she loves Raymond more than Raddle. She switched between the two before Raymond messed her up. Now she sticks to Raddle again. At least Raddle is loyal to her you know. But she gives me a very independent vibe. I feel for poor Raddle.

Raymond - With Raymond it was a slow process. I usually avoid popular characters like the plague. Growing up I always liked the underdogs and most of my dreamies are underdogs but Raymond was persistent. He appeared on my ex town and moved into mine. There was nothing special about that time, the only thing I noticed was he did enjoy spending time with Jay. Next year I find him on an island and he wants to move in again. He eventually moves out again because it was the same boring thing. Jay and Marlo have their little romantic journey and guess who moves in again. Raymond xD I found him on an island again so I decided to bring him again. It was the best decision! My man Raymond nearly destroyed Jay and Marlo's relationship and also Petry and Raddle's. He loved to cause drama! Test others to see how far they would go or break. He acted like a true villain. He was even mean to my character. On valentine's he gave me a trash can XD Man I moved him out after that. I wasn't mad, I found it funny actually but that is what he gets when he messes with me. Eventually he moved in back again lol. I don't know what the deal is with him, he comes and goes as he pleases. Causes problems and behaves as he pleases. Dunno if he is dreamie material but he is here.

It's been a while since I've had to hunt for a villager I like but I do remember pining for some in particular.
Judy is probably the one I remember hunting for the most as she was the last long hunt I did, I remember going in over 700 NMT searching for her, and on one of the mystery islands while looking for her I found a DIY bottle with the message form her and was like COME ON! I chose her as a dreamy because with the tie-dye fur and sparkly eyes she reminded me so much of a popular toy I had as a kid, a doodle bear. when the ink doesn't get washed out all the way they end up with a similar patchy look.

I love Dom for the exact same reasons too! He was my starter on day 1 of ACNH’s release and I still have and treasure him. My number 1 favourite villager.

I love Bob because his face is so funny to me - I think his lazy personality fits perfectly with his design. This might not be true but I heard he was the first villager ever created. Can someone tell me if that’s just a rumour or not?

I love Sasha because of his feminine appearance - I just think it’s neat

Octavian has the perfect grumpy appearance for a cranky personality and octopi are an awesome species in animal crossing. Another villager that has a funny design

Dobie looks like an old man and I love that. It’s unique and I love giving him old man clothes. His cranky personality seems different to other cranky villagers for some reason!

Marlo, another cranky villager (cranky is my favourite personality) looks like a mafia boss to me and I love that so much - his expressions are hilarious and he is so short and chubby.

Goldie was a villager in my first AC game - wild world - so she is very nostalgic to me. Her sweet design is radiant

Shino - she’s beautiful. My favourite peppy villager by far. I love how you’d think she is snooty due to her design, but she’s so cute! My Shino seems to never call me her “fan” which is the main reason that peppy villagers are hard to like. (For me)

Merry is so so cute and I LOVE her double chin.

Lily and Maple are so adorable. Their designs make me smile

Kiki- an obvious choice as I have always loved cats and being a witchy person myself, I have always loved black cats. Also her name being Kiki like Kiki's Delivery Service was just so perfect.

Pecan- she was in my first town, and I loved her from the moment I saw her. A perfect squirrel! None of the other squirrels look as perfect as Pecan does, and her catchphrase "chipmunk" was just too cute.

Ankha- as a cat lover, and a history buff, how could you not love Ankha and her Egyptian aesthetic?

Chevre- a perfect adorable little white goat! She's just too adorable for words!

Cole- when a witch lacks a black cat, a black rabbit will make an excellent familiar!

Lucky- a mummified zombie dog? Need I say more?

I have so many more but these are the ones I will always add to my dreamie list!
