It was close to midnight est when they launched the event. So I am sure a lot were already asleep by that point or not online refreshing crazily.

Yeah, I found two just after the event launched and they were among the simpler ones to find, and any I've found since have already been found and claimed by others. It was pretty much right place, right time.

There is no individual reward for being the person to redeem the egg. The points go to your team.
There are also plenty more eggs still to find.
This question got a bit buried, I'm wondering if it can be answered by the staff:
I don't know if @LaBelleFleur just hasn't seen this or not, but there isn't much use to speculating given it is a single-redeem event. If you have an idea where an egg should be you should just check yourself rather than ask. Either way I think all cabins besides one have a thread for this event. If you're from the one that doesn't, go ahead and make one!
Hey Chris so I have a very valid question here. Even though I realize we get no clues whatsoever as to where to find these eggs, which makes me wanna cry buckets by the way, can you confirm or deny, whether all eggs are out or if they are coming out increments at a time? Do not have to give us times if that’s the case but I was just wondering.

Reminder that this event is not intended to be like our Annual Easter Egg Hunt. It's not fast-paced or manic and we don't have any expectation that users will even find all the eggs. As the event continues (and those wriggly things keep multiplying) people will be more and more likely to find eggs through regular site use rather than active hunting. It's just a way for teams to gain some extra points rather than something we intend for users to lose sleep over.

I've unfortunately only ever come across other eggs that were collected but I do hope to find some unclaimed ones in my forum travels at some point

I've had some really fun, heart-pounding moments of finding eggs.
They may have been quickly followed by devastation and despair when they were already claimed...
But I will hold onto those precious hopeful moments forever...
And I can't wait to see the final list of where they all were (we will get that, right? Please??).
Yes, I have only been successful finding "spent" eggs. I've tried being creative in filtering to see if that helps, but no such luck. I'm one who feels very strongly about pulling my own wait in team events so it is quite distressful not contributing 1 single egg. 
hahaha, the epic highs and lows of egg hunting on BTF! i do love the kick of finding one. it's a great shot of espresso to the bones!
Curious - are there actually still unclaimed eggs out there to find right now?
