I finally got a villager photo!

I’m not sure where I’ll put it yet, but I'm happy nonetheless!

Diana gave me her photo too!

View attachment 264572

Just kidding. Diana is lovely; in no way does she resemble a mantis. I just thought it was a little funny that this was the interaction I had directly following the one where Bree gave me her pic.

🍀

And I took many many pictures:

Savannah is probably my favorite villager. Just look at her!

I actually took this one yesterday and then forgot to post it.

Not only is Savannah my favorite villager, but she also lives in my favorite house.

I love the lighting in this game.

This is the walkway from the resident services building to the path above it. There’s an identical one on the other side as well. It looks best at night when the garden lanterns come on.

🍀
So pretty. I like have every thing seems to flow. I love they way you lit up the pathway like that as well.

Your island looks gorgeous! Id love to take a tour someday : D
Thank you very much!

I think I sort of make my island look a little nicer in pics than it is in reality. Right now I have patches in various states of completion and some sections I haven't done anything with at all.

If you want to visit someday you're welcome to! I'm just afraid that it might be a disappointing experience.

I like putting my villagers in mini communities. I plan to continue adding villager home pictures to this post. In the meantime, here's what I've come up with so far.

Please check back later!

Love the mini communities <3

🍀

Good Morning!

🍀

EYzUpiBU4AAjonp.jpeg

Maybe it's just because I’ve spent the last month or so being called “mountain” by three quarters of my villagers, but I was completely blown away by how awesome Diana’s naming sense is. Tulip is an adorable nickname; I hope it catches on.

🍀

This is an early and still unfinished section of my island that I had big plans for. Unfortunately, I’m feeling a bit hindered by the current lack of potted plants, the shelves are looking rather bare. I want full leafy-looking things that take up the whole 1x1 square of space they occupy. I like the anthurium plant, I even use two variations here, but you can only cram so many color-swapped versions of the same item into something before it becomes blatantly obvious that you’re just trying to fill space. Also, for the specific look I’m going for I think I need a bit more variety. I'd love to come back and finish it if we ever get more plant selection. I also eventually plan on replacing some of the items here with different color variations once I get the chance.

EYzUvzOVAAAkqWY_2.jpeg

EYzU1IoUcAIpgZw_2.jpeg

I would feel bad for the bird, but it's thriving-or at the very least not dead. So I guess neglect suits it.

🍀

My colossal fully-upgraded storage is actually in danger of being filled. I buy too many clothes. I used to pick one outfit and never change it. Eventually I realized that if I did that, I couldn’t really justify my obsessive hoarding of clothing, so recently I’ve been trying something new. The last thing I do before logging out for the night is change into pajamas, take off face paint (eyebrows, bangs), and set a generic kind of hairstyle. Then the next morning when I log in a choose a new look for myself. It’s a silly little ritual, but it’s made the game that much more of an immersive experience for me. If anyone else happens to read this and has something they do to feel more immersed in the animal crossing world, I would love to hear it😊

🍀

I’m still not sure she’s using that space as efficiently as she could (the chair Stella! Sit in the chair), but wow is she cute.

EYzUpizUEAAqTv8.jpeg

I tried to get a cute pic of Diana, but she was too quick for me.

The most immersed I ever feel on animal crossing is wearing umbrellas and rain boots when it rains... It's simple but to me it's the most quintessential animal crossing thing ever. Essentially useless but you just... have to do it.

When I was a kid playing City Folk I used to put on pijamas to go to sleep, but since going to bed doesn't save the game anymore I stopped. Maybe I should try doing it again...

I put on rainy-day gear too!

I started it just as a way to force me to use some of this massive clothing collection I've accumulated. I had an insane number of outfits but only ever wore one thing. I'm glad I started though! I think it's made me try looks I might otherwise not have because, why not? It's just for a day and if I don't like it I'll do something totally different tomorrow.

The birthday celebration was really cute. I love their formal wear.

🍀

I’ve been wanting to get some nice small flower and stone custom designs to use around my town. I finally found something similar to what I was looking for. I’m not sure how well it will work during the not-green seasons though. I might have to change it a bit when Autumn rolls around. Anyways! Here are some of the areas I've plastered with flowers and rocks:

Echo’s house. Right now her front yard looks nicer than my main character’s does. I still have no idea what I want to do with Lethe's exterior.

Just brutal. Guy puts on a pair of rhinestone-encrusted sunglasses once and suddenly he’s Elysium’s resident fashion expert.

Happy birthday!!!

The use of the hyacinths is so pretty 🖤 Love the pink ones together with the pastel flower cart. Even the bunny day wreath works really well with it :giggle:

But what's with Teddy? I've never seen any villager being rude 😆

Happy birthday @An0nn ♥!!!

Audie, Teddy and Hazel sounds like a pretty fun party!
Thank you river! It was a pretty nice little birthday event:)

Thank you!

Hyacinths are my favorite flower in NH.

Right? It was unexpected. Wow Teddy...

With the addition of the wedding items, I finally know what I want to do with my basement! A modest-ish library. To the right there’s a fountain, but I need more plant things before I’m ready to show it off. No matter how many times I’m disappointed by the lack of plant items after I come up with something like this, I’m always still surprised by the lack of plant items the next time I try it again. Ah well! I think when it’s all done it will look quite nice😊 K.K. Sonata is playing, which goes well with the room.

EZrRmHWU8AAKbQm_2.jpeg

Needs more plant items.

🍀

My third character, Xenia, lives in a studio apartment on the top floor of the (creatively named) Elysium Inn.

EZrRmHNUYAAHvy6_2.jpeg

Look how cozy it looks at night. If I were stranded on Elysium, I would stay there.

Probably obvious without my saying anything, but I tried my hand at making a custom sign. It’s… fine? There’s something about it I’m not in love with. I might try to fix it up later, it could be something as simple as fiddling around with the colors a little. I'm not sure that I like how the "Elysium" part looks, with the possible exception of the "E".

EZrRuY6UEAIZ4zL_2.jpeg

I do love how the “inn” part came out though.

The inn is located at the end of the main shopping street above the beach.

EZrRuY0UcAEfxOA_2.jpeg

Right here.

Am I the only one who didn’t know that you could actually SIT in the pet bed??

EZrRmHKUYAAR7z7.jpeg

A thrilling discovery.

hi! 🥰 thought I'd check out your island journal too, and wow your pictures look amazing! I like the custom designs you recently added (the flowers & rocks), they compliment ur island really well :3

Also I LOVE your basement so far! So gorgeous!

I love those custom designs:) I hope they continue to look alright when the colors change during autumn and winter seasons.

Today I wanted to introduce some of the other human (in most cases) residents of Elysium. Once I make more progress on the actual houses of these characters, I might move some of these descriptions to the currently empty Island Residents post near the beginning. After cleaning them up a bit.

🍀

Xenia is the innkeeper. Her style is kind of comfy-chic. Frumpy-chic? Lots of earthy tones. I think it’s lovely. She’s the first not-Lethe character to make an appearance in this journal. Here: Xenia’s Debut.

Thetis lives right on the beach and will be the owner of Elysium’s Seafood restaurant.

While I freely pass funds and items around between all of my other characters, I decided against doing that with Thetis. Thetis earns all of her own money and her house is only filled with items she herself has bought/found. You know that period at the beginning of an Animal Crossing town when your house is full of stuff you shook out of a tree and your outfit was just handed to you by a goat? That feels so cozy to me. Even though I also like when everything comes together after you’ve carefully collected the most fitting pieces available anywhere in the game to make your dream town, I always find myself missing it a bit. So, I’m re-living it through Thetis.

I posted Echo’s house the other day: Here.

When I first started playing, I chose the face Echo has for Lethe. I ended up changing it to the face Lethe is currently wearing but I still really liked the Echo face too, so I was conflicted. Originally Lethe’s house was located in the spot where Echo’s house currently stands. Then I ambled over to the other side of the map and thought to myself: “Wow! This place is great. This is where I should put my house.” But I still really liked the Echo location too, so I was conflicted. It was at this point that I had the brilliant idea of making a character who would use things that I’ve tried on Lethe and really liked, but maybe just liked a tiny bit less than another idea I came up with later and switched to.

This is the process behind most of Echo’s development, making her, in my opinion, an excellent representation of either a second child who relies heavily on hand-me-downs or a tragic Greek mythological figure. After carefully weighing both of these options I decided to go with the name Echo since it fits in with the Elysium naming convention, the one aspect of design that I’ve tackled with anything resembling consistency since starting my game.

Am I just kidding myself here, or is this accidentally a totally decent sheep costume? I say accidentally, because I didn’t actually set out to make a sheep costume, I was just putting things with similar colors together that I thought were cute. Look, don’t those ankle boots kind of look like hooves? And the poofy hat? Just like what a real sheep would wear.

One day the Able Sisters were selling a duck beak. I tried it on and realized that there wasn’t, nor would there ever be, a more wonderful accessory in this game. Or any game really. Rather than rejoicing in this find however, I was troubled. What if someday, by some one in a million chance, I found an outfit that somehow did not go well with the duck beak? What if there came a day when I was tempted to take it off? Thus: Penelope. Basically Lethe, but wearing a duck beak. Why not indeed?

They are all so stylish!!!

I would literally wear anything that Xenia wears, looks so comfy and classic.

And I appreciate your admiration for the duck beak, it is an amazing accessory, and Penelope is very cute. Also wandering if you named her after the very underrated Christina Ricci movie? She was really cute in that too.
