Events & Collectibles General Discussion

I don't want to see limited stock. I feel like it ends up being quite unfair. If staff wants to limit the number of collectibles they can release them under circumstances like a special raffle or have an unlimited number available for a one day purchase window because of a special occasion or something to make the collectible feel extra special for a real reason.

I remember experiencing what seemed to be the last of the limited collectible stock days during the first event I ever took part in on TBT, the 2020 Bell Tree Fair. I thought it was a confusing, unnecessary, and frustrating mechanic. You would sit there on the Shop page, refreshing over and over, waiting for the collectibles to be restocked, and as it got closer to being restocked, each refresh would take longer because there would be more people online doing the same thing (or maybe my internet was just bad at the worst possible time? idk, i just know I remember lag).

And then when the collectibles (and other prizes) did get restocked, you had to RUSH to add it to your cart and just hope that your purchase went through in time, and with the lag that was extra stressful. I remember getting my pink/purple star fragments in time, and then sticking around to watch the Celeste Plush stock go down.. it literally only took like 5 minutes (probably way less) for it to be completely sold out.

I think limited stock is just too unfair, especially given how hard we all work on our entries in these events, plus not everyone can be online at the given restock times (I think i got up at like 3 or 4 am for one restock?) Sure, unlimited stock makes selling newer collectibles on the TBT market almost impossible, but I'd rather that than having to save up a bunch of TBT to buy a collectible that I could have otherwise easily purchased with my hard-earned event currency.

It’s also worth mentioning that some of these collectibles, like the 2016 wands, 2018 eggs, and the arcade collectibles, the reason why supply was low was because the activity of the site was low during the late ACNL era. They were given re-runs, but only as raffle prizes, which isn’t helping the case.

I’m also beginning to feel that selling collectibles for a high price (like 10k TBT or more) was a relic of the 2013-2015 collectible craze, when demand for collectibles was really high. I was hoping to take advantage of a more active community to sell my collectibles for high prices, but I began to realize that it’s not much high activity that would make selling collectibles for more easier. It’s the beginning of the collectible hype that was crazier. Since collectibles aren’t being taken as seriously as they used to, there’s no reason to sell for a much higher price.

I now have 23 “assorted” collectibles and additional 10 Christmas collectibles (currently on display). I have seven more categories to fill out, and this includes any future categories like fast food or fish.

I just had a crazy thought and I need to put it out there:

not to sound overdramatic, but if the TBT Staff ever decided to bless us with a fox plushie collectible??? I would literally lie down on the floor and start sobbing. I desperately need this to become a thing 😭

Do christmas puppy plushes bought in December 2021 exist? I wanna date trade but I haven't seen one yet so not sure they even exist

Yessssssss I would need a full lineup 😭😭😭 let’s just call it an Audie collectible, even though she’s a wolf 😉

Angsting over what to do with my carnival coins, especially since it looks like I'll have to redeem my Wish before even seeing the closing ceremony.

There are some older collectibles I have NO chance of ever getting without raising some serious TBT. Up until now I'd always considered it impossible, but the other day I was able to trade a few collectibles and get enough for the Goomba and the Boo Egg, so now I'm like ... should I buy the skull wand? The wands tend to be pretty high value and I could end up with enough TBT to score Pinky or even the Space Invader one day, which is pretty much my only real collectible dream.

Up until now I've pretty much just bought my favorites without paying attention to their value, and I've tended to prefer mid-range collectibles over super popular ones, so I have nothing of significant value in my inventory. But I have lots of collectibles with memories attached from previous events. I'm not sure I want to be stressed about "the market," so maybe I should just go on ignoring it and abandon my pinky/invader collectible dreams. I want the three plushies, the AN fragment for my team, and Squashua as my wish, but if I bought the skull wand I'd have to pick just one plushie (and maybe buy a second for 1.1k TBT) with the fragment as my wish.

This is way too much detail, haha. I don't get how people manage to play the market! I always want souvenirs of events and so I end up just buying stuff that looks cool every time and foregoing the big ticket items, then mildly regretting it when I see that those items are worth 5x the amount of what I bought. I'm too risk-averse for this!

I love this. Collectables that you want are special 🥰 I can’t play the market either. This event the mermaid egg stole my heart 😍 How can us neverminders not be obsessed with our fragment. It is a very special memory of our wonderful, amazing team 💜💚💜

So cool that our fragment got released! It's lovely.

I'm a little obsessed with the name "Squashua." So pleasing to my brain. Would I care about getting a pumpkin collectible if it didn't have the most perfect name? Possibly no?

The name is literally the only reason I wanted this collectible. I will say though, it’s cute little face is growing on me. I love Squashua lol ❤️

If there is something you like, get that. If not you can buy the skull wand or pinwheel and hold on to it for trading later or try and get tbt from it. I have more luck with trades most of the time. I thought a snowbunny would be out of my reach but I traded currency in for a butterfly wand at an event and traded it later for a snow bunny. Maybe I lost tbt value, but I got a collectible I was really wanting that people may not have wanted to let go for tbt and I wasn't sure I could accumulate that much tbt anyway.

I’m conflicted on if I should sell my pinwheel or not.

On one hand, I like having more TBT Bells. Selling it would help me get back to 10k TBT pretty quickly. But on the other hand, this is the only time I ever had a pinwheel. Selling it would not just purge the pinwheels out of my collection, but I would also have a hard time obtaining it in the future.

I did participate in the event to get more collectibles to sell, but they were so good-looking that I would be opposed to selling them.

If my opinion matters I would keep the pinwheel. It is a gorgeous collectable and not selling for what it’s worth imo.

I thought I would sell but the event has been amazing so I have gone for what I want for me and did a giveaway and some gifts 💜

Okay, I am confused, are all Rocket Pops configured to Aug 13, 2023 at 4:48 PM? The Rocket Pops were released on August 8th 2023 and you had until Sunday, August 13, 7:00 PM EDT to buy one, the Rocket Pop ticket thingies got configured 48 minutes after they sold out. Does it not matter when you bought one and is the date always Aug 13th @ 4:48PM? I have yet to find someone who owns a Rocket Pop that doesn't have that date.

all dates are the same. ordering seems to be determined by the internal item id itself instead

Wanna know what else I wouldn’t sell? A hot dog collectible. If the next TBT Fair is a culinary-themed TBT Fair, and hot dogs are one of the collectibles you could get, I would keep the hot dog collectible forever. I wouldn’t mind selling a burger or pizza slice collectible, but hot dog collectibles aren’t for sale.

Sadly yes, they are all the same date with probably seconds between.

It would be very hard to get a lineup 🥲

Are there existing Mori collectibles from 2019?
