Far too late to start getting into AC:NH?

I forgot! Sorry!!! I agree that they were 100% going to make an AC wii u but they cancelled it after the sad sales numbers so instead they made amiibo festival. They probably made AC plaza before cancelling the main game. tbh I hate the switch so much and I have said it many times so I wish it would end already.....
I love the switch but it really is time for some better hardware.
It was borderline when it came out. And that was years ago.

Can you imagine New horizons on a switch 2?
You could place down so many more items without lag and pop in if the console wasn't a potato by today's standards haha

The gaps for the mainline games were
4 years
3 years
4 years
7 years

And the 7 years between New Leaf and New horizons would probably have been shorter if the wii u wasn't a failure.
The wii u spin off games were probably imo just them reusing the work they were putting towards a wii u mainline game.

So I would expect the next game to be within the first couple of years of nintendo next console.

However since they seem to have merged their console and handheld lines, and the switch is very successful, I don't see them releasing a new console any time soon.

I'd say maybe 2026 for the next game.
Honestly if we look at last content update of the games (Nintendo being fully done with the game), NL to NH was a 4 year gap which is pretty consistent with the other games. The last update confirmed by Nintendo for NH was 2021. 4 years from then is 2025.

2025 would be awesome
But they've never released a mainline game on the same console as another one.
So we can assume that holds true and it won't be out on switch.

Normally nintendo has 2 divices on the go at once, handheld and console. And the release alternate. But that doesn't apply any more.

Breath of the wild 2 comes out next year in 2023 and I can't imagine them announcing a new console at the same time, so 2024 announcement at the earliest imo.

Give it a year to come out, and it's 2025.

Assuming it's not a launch title, the earliest it would come is 2026.

That's my logic at least.

I know its flimsy, but we've not a lot to go off of.

It's all cool. I just personally can't see the switch going on for much longer tbh. It runs so poorly for the games they want to slap on it.

tbh, BoW2 wouldn't be a bad launch game. I mean it if isn't on a new console people will A. complain about the lag B. complain about something being cut back because of the Switch's limitations.

And I heard something about how there is an investor meeting thing at the end of this month and there is a rumor that the NinDirect is at the end of this month so I am kinda thinking more positively than should lol but perhaps they have something to announce before going into the meeting to answer a bunch of investor questions.

If they did do that, and it made it so new horizons ran better, it would be a dream come true and I wouldn't even care about a new game. Because shorter loading times and decorating without framerate worries would be a new game!

And then give us a new game too please and thank you lmao

Yes there should/needs to be backwards compatibility for games if they aren't doing an upgraded switch model lol.

If anything, now is probably the best time to jump into New Horizons, with the 2.0 update and an entire community's worth of custom designs archived and ready to download. Yes, the community isn't as active as it once was, but there is still absolutely no shortage of people willing to trade or make use of all the benefits of online play. So I think you will still have a good time with it.

Nah, there's still a big enough community that you can trade and stuff. ACNH won't be trending on twitter anymore but it's still pretty alive. What you did miss is the community hype for new additions to the game. But that's with all games, you can only play a game for the first time once.

I don't think so.

The hype, like others have said, has died down but I don't think that means it's too late to get into the game.

On steam, I'm always buying older games and getting into them.

Actually it was trending for me the other day, I saw!

I don’t think so. Like others said, the overall hype has died down, but you can definitely still play it. If you need help, there’s a lot of tips and tricks on YouTube and Reddit. (And here!) My dad still plays Dig Dug even though it came out in the 80s lol.

It's never too late to get in to ACNH. I didn't get into the game until January last year but I haven't looked back and I still play regularly as it's the kind of game you can put down and pick up again when you're in the mood.

Oh, it's still very much worth it. Thankfully, AC has never relied too hard on communities or player bases like, say, MMOs do. Even still, there's plenty enough of a community left for you to have fun visiting, hanging out, etc with other humans without feeling like you live in a ghost town. The holidays and events are all coded into the game and happen in real-time so you haven't missed out on any content, items, etc. I periodically go back to old AC games and they're still loads of fun, even if I can't play online with others due to the servers being taken down.

If anything, you're lucky. Getting into ACNH after 2.0 means you've circumvented all the fandom drama that clogged up the internet at the beginning of the pandemic. The game's complete, so you have everything to play with. No more waiting for content. No grass-is-greener comparisons of your builds/islands to other players. No more listening to people go back and forth about the 'right' way to play. No non-Amiibo villager slave auctions. No Nookazon drama. You get to enjoy your island in relative peace just like it was meant to be enjoyed.

You didn't arrive late to the party, you came in after the natural disaster. We've long since swept up and refurnished the place so you won't know any different.

I understand the feeling of coming late to the party, but to be honest with the new update i decided to change my entire island outline and structure, its been over months now and sometimes i just make some advances to my island and sometimes i am 3 hours straight making little changes here and there. I fee like there was from the beginning little incentive to play online or with other player to be honest, specially with the lack of interactive items or online games so i dont mind that the game might be as hot as it used to be I am just happy playing it when ever i feel like it and i am inspired :)

Defiantly give New Horizons a go if you have the game its very cute and you will spend my hours designing the perfect island for you and your islanders :)

Considering how long it took for New Leaf to New Horizon to come out, I'd say just try the game if you really want to. You're going to probably be waiting 4-5 years at the earliest for the next game to come out.

Animal Crossing isn't like Pokemon where they throw a new one out every year.

I originally started playing in 2020 when everyone else started but stopped around October of that same year because I was pretty much finished with my island and didn’t have any motivation to play anymore. I tried starting last year again, reset my island, but never touched it again until this year on the 19th of this year. I feel better about the game, I feel excited again, and to have all the updates that I missed out on just waiting to be unlocked for me to play is refreshing and exciting. So if anything, this is the best time to start it again. I hope it’s as fun for you as it’s been for me.

Absolutely not! It's a casual game that you can enjoy at your own pace. If you ever need any help, let us know. We'll try our best to help! :)

You will still love the game, and you will always find people around who are playing. I've had my breaks, which oddly enough I find seems to happen to me during the spring season. Not entirely sure why, other than I suppose the only real big event during spring is Bunny Day and... I don't really like that that much. But I'm back into it now, and I have a new desire to change things up on my island. Not flatten and change the island itself so much as just change the different areas. Clean up the flower fields I have and at least make the sea level very homey feeling. The first cliff can be more pure nature picnic feeling, and then second level cliffs can be super wild.

Anyways yes, you'll still really enjoy it! And it's not like the game isn't supported any longer, they're just not going to be doing any large updates anymore. But some smaller ones still come out every now and again - I could be wrong but I think we actually got a few new DIY recipes recently. So it seems they're still doing some small scale stuff for the time being.

id say no ! i joined a bit over a year ago, and i definitely feel the difference in activity from the community compared to now. however, ACNH is insanely popular & has thousands of loyal fans that still play religiously. ACNH is also the type of game you can put down for months and pick up again with new-found motivation.

the game got a large update recently which im sure sparked up activity. ACNH is going to be around for a while, so have fun !!
