Now that it's December, I think it's now appropriate to start talking about Christmas. What are some of your favorite foods that you typically consume during this time of year? Even better if you post a picture.

I always like having sugar cookies. They taste really nice, and they can be decorated fairly easily.

For regular food, mashed potatoes and gravy is nice.
Not too much of a sweets person, but these's these chocolate cookies my gram would make with peanut butter chips that were the best.

One other thing she'd make that was pretty good was ricotta cheese cookies dipped in sugar.

Champagne
I'd buy/be gifted the ones that are SO expensive and would never buy if it wasn't special occasions. It's one of fun things during these holiday seasons.
Also, a little sidetrack, but if we Japanese are gonna talk about special foods, we'd be more focused on New Year's special foods than Christmas foods. It takes goddamn trouble to cook Osechi. It's already rather challenge than fun, but I love cooking them along with Zouni, the special soup that has Mochi in it for the New Year's celebration.

Oh wait. I shouldn't forget about Advent calendar.
I get one every year and look forward to opening small windows each day with my baby.

I'll eat anything that looks Christmas-y tbh

But I really love non-alcoholic eggnog

Chicken tamales and champurrado (basically a creamier hot cocoa typically consumed in Mexico). Sorry, I can’t post pictures because I’m on mobile.

I love having a massive roast with all the meats (usually between lamb, turkey, chicken or ham) and all the roast veges. Spring carrots and new potatoes are the best. That's our typical christmas lunch meal.

Then followed by all the desserts. Usually we have some sort of Christmas sticky date pudding or a Christmas cake, but my absolute favourite will always be Pavlova! It looks like this:

For those who don't know what it is, it's like a giant meringue that's soft and fluffy in the middle, topped with whipped cream and fruits (kiwifruits and strawberries mainly). It's quite a famous dessert in New Zealand and Australia, and it's so good omg <3

I love my mom's lemon cookies - they're small and round-ish so they look like little snowballs, and the frosting is super delicious with real lemon juice. I haven't had them in about 7 years since I became allergic to wheat, but this year I think I'll try baking them with gluten free flour! I hope they turn out well.

I also like mashed potatoes and gravy, turkey with cranberries, sesame garlic green beans, and strawberry cake. My favorite thing to cook is oven-roasted garlic-parmesan veggies, topped with grated asiago cheese. I usually roast up kabocha, yams, potatoes, carrots, onions, green beans and broccoli until they're nice and browned and the onions are caramelized. Delicious!

Oh gosh. I love Christmas baking. I tend to go over board. I have about 160 sugar cookies, 4 dozen gingerbread men, 4 dozen rice crispy peanut butter balls, 4 dozen gingersnaps, and I still plan on doing a few more things

I love my mother's sugar cookie recipe. They are a pain in the butt to make but so delicious.

Of course then for actual food is perogies with mushroom sauce

gingerbread cookies!

also toffees, saffron buns.. basically all the sweets aha

Mashed potatoes, Christmas cookies, green beans, and Christmas cake are among the top ones for me. :)

I like all kind of things, like cheese plates and appetizers but what I like the most is smoked salmon and gravlax. (I also like oysters but it's too expensive and a bit of work to open)

For dessert I like yule log (also those with ice cream)

And on Christmas morning, nothing beat the panettone

Woah that made my mouth water!

I love:
  • Hot cocoa
  • Sugar Cookies
  • Ham

I love hot chocolate too!! but it's something I drink almost every month of the year. Hot cider is good too.

Apparently it?s called King pie? The New Year?s bread my grandma made with the coin inside

Especially if I got the piece with the money

Probably pumpkin pie. I can't think of anything else holiday themed that I super duper love as much. Strawberry cheesecake is a close second I suppose.
