Forest Guardian Spirits or Dead Tree Wraiths?

Forest guardian spirits all the way! The color scheme is so pretty, and so is the enchanted forest. (Though I wish there were more team purple threads in the enchanted forest board. The people in the woods look like they’re having a lot of fun)

I started on the wraiths side but I really like purple (bc it's a cool color and it's the color of WAAHHH) so I'm gonna shift myself over to that side tomorrow

If you're talking about the woods vs the enchanted forest boards, the woods have been around for almost two decades (2005 was the first ever post!) and have been coming back yearly for the spooky holidays. It's a sort of "The basement" vibes so there are tons of posts on there yearly. The enchanted forest was a new board just for this year's fair, so it's normal for the forest to have fewer posts :]

Honestly, both teams have a lot of things going for them. I love the purple of the Forest Guardian Spirits. I love the name of the Dead Tree Wraiths. What really won me over were the backdrops on the Wraith side. Bats and other cute, spooky animals are the surest way to my heart. I was torn at first, but now I'm a fully committed Wraith.

And nobody can stop me from still using purple in my signature. Purple and green go best together.

I'm open to either. They are both nice. I guess it will depend all on the spirits. So far, it looks like I'm gonna be a dead tree wraith.

Both sides are neat. Purple is my favorite color and the purple being used for the Forest Guardian Spirits is really pretty. The description is also kinda cool.

That said, I'm solidly team Dead Tree Wraiths. Green is another of my favorite colors (after orange, pink, and black) and I'm more into the creepy aspect.

look if we're talking pure aesthetic, the spirits are absolutely more of my usual jam, but this is the halloween season. of which spirits colors sans black are about the most anti-halloween colors I can think of

I'm amazed at how even the poll was! I thought everyone and their mom was into the purple scheme.
I think us Froggy Chairs feel the need for vengeance -- FOREVER GREEN !!!

In hindsight, neither green nor purple feel like strong halloween colors imo. If you asked me to make a color palette based on my first impression of halloween, it‘d be orange and black. Purple and green on halloween feel too contained to a witch/wizard aesthetic (purple hat/dress and green skin).

In my opinion, certain shades of green feels like it can be a Halloween color. You have Frankenstein’s skin tone, the leaves and vines on pumpkins which are sometimes depict in holiday art on Jack-o-lanterns, and the ghostly green associated with the supernatural.

Frankenstein skin makes a good case for green being a spooky color (it's similar to the point I mentioned with green skin on witches), but the leaves on pumpkins don't. Everyone is looking at the bright orange on pumpkins, not the dark green leaves. A better example for green is slime, now that's spooky.

And honestly, I associate ghostly colors more with purple than green. For example, many ghost-type Pokemon are colored purple. The Gastly egg collectible is purple, lol. Also, many of our older Halloween collectibles have a dark purple background.

Not really here to advocate my faction bias, just wanna say that I personally don't see either colors to be stronger than the other for Halloween. Orange and black would have probably been cooler.

Why are the Forest Guardian Spirits the "good" side? The Wraith's home was pillaged and destroyed by unwelcome visitors. We're trying to save & protect what little is left. Why does that make us "bad"?

This is true.

Also, ngl, but orange is one of my least favorite colors. I don't know how I'd feel if we were seeing that all over the forums. Not to mention it would have to be dark orange, otherwise it would be too bright and you wouldn't be able to read anyone's names, lol.

And black wouldn't really be different from the color our usernames already are.
