This new French article states that you can donate bugs & fish to Tom Nook at first until you build the museum!

'If the museum is obviously not present on the deserted island (at the beginning), it is still possible to donate insects and fish to Tom Nook.'

^^ I used google translate to translate it to English so it may not be perfect haha c:

That's interesting. I wonder why they decided to let us donate to nook rather than having to wait until we have the museum? I might wait until I have the building unlocked I love reading blathers little stories c:

That's pretty awesome. I always donate the first one I catch of each species, so this helps. Hopefully the options to donate and to sell aren't too close together.

Thinking about it, it'd be awesome if Blathers offered to buy our doubles and use the bells for future museum expansions.

Maybe it takes a significant amount of time and/or funding to found the museum? It would make more sense to have a temporary fix for donating in the meantime if that were true.

Donating to Blathers would definitely feel more fulfilling than donating to Nook to be honest. :/

I hope the museum is one of the first buildings we can unlock. I want to hand my donations to Blathers himself. In the meantime, I guess I’ll just display the fishes/bugs around my house, lol.

Oh that's such a relief! I was worried I'd have a hoard of bug and fish tanks laying all over the ground while waiting for a museum :''D

Yess i'm already planning to make my own aquarium in my house, the fish just look so detailed

I guess but it just feels weird. Like what would nook even say during that? "I'll hold on to this until you decide to have a museum!" ???

That's nice for the people who want to be super organized. For me, since there is an encylopedia that keeps track on if you donate things or not, I'm just not going to give Tom Nook donations. I'll wait for the museum to properly open. (Unless that's how you end up unlocking the museum through giving Nook stuff)

Same! Also it feels weird for Nook to have them. Like what would he be doing with them?

That's a good point actually. Like you donate a certain amount of bugs/fish and the museum becomes available to build.

The only issue is any expiring fish or bugs. If the Museum doesn't open by March 31, and you've sold all your stash, you'll have to wait another year.

I'll probably wait to donate to Blathers, but store all first catch in my house or around Exeter (Island name).

Edit: total epiphany. I will name my Island ExIsle. It's a combination of Exeter and Island, and a pun!

The Nook?s donation is not the only new info in the text. French is my first language. No need of translating tool.

The author also said he was able to craft a fishing pole and a fishing net quickly after landing on the deserted island. Moreover, it?s also written that even though autosaving is quite efficient, you can also force save by pressing the "?" button on the controller.

Storage more then likely.

interesting! i wonder if there’ll be a way to force save on the switch lite

Hmmm I wonder if it'll even be possible to wait for the Museum then unless you don't sell any fish until then. Like it's not certain it'll be an option to donate or if he will just automatically keep the first of every fish species you sell.

Either way, I think it's good because people could accidentally sell off a rare fish or one that goes out of season before the museum opens and that'd feel like the one that got away.

iirc, Blathers didn't have anything unique to say about bugs and fish in NL unlike previous games, so I don't really care who I donate it to if he's not going to say anything special. [SUB]Honestly it made him kinda useless as an NPC to me and I was disappointed he had nothing to say[/SUB]
