I live in the North America region, and Pete just gave me a letter from Nintendo. Enclosed in the letter was the 'smoker' item (looks like a tall cooking stove). This is one of the items I believe you can get from camper villagers during the winter months, and it is re-orderable via the catalog.

So in all probability North American players should be getting a similar letter from Nintendo with the 'smoker' item attached starting this afternoon.
