Mafia [GAME THREAD] Karen Mafia (Endgame - Mafia Wins)

Lynching an inactive is a huge waste of a day phase.

Let me put it like this to really drive it home: Option a) Town doesn't lynch, the inactive player dies to a modkill. b) Town lynches the inactive player, no modkill occurs. In both scenarios the only dead player is the inactive.

This example illustrates that lynching an inactive is essentially no voting. I shouldn't need to drive in how bad no voting is.

Additionally, voting for an inactive is something mafia can do without any effort, so you'd just let mafia blend in with the crowd.
And finally, aren't there replacements? So the inactives shouldn't even be modkilled.
so who would you vote for then abe?

we aren’t getting much info anyways because everyone is confused on who to vote for. either maf blends in with that or hops on an inactive wagon. what’s your alternative? at least this way we can garner SOME info on how people react

Atm there is just one replacement, but idk if with the new rules modkill=replacement

So you're saying he expected to get attention from the RNG post, but not from his comment re: Aerious, so if someone pressured him over the RNG post it would've been a much less defensive reaction?
I dunno I just don't really agree with that. If you're prepared to receive attention you're prepared to receive attention. I don't think what he received attention from is all that relevant.
Yeah that's what I'm saying. Fair enough on disagreeing, I can see the logic for that. This all said, yeah agreed that this current RNG thing is objectively bad play. We Shall See where he takes us.
Honestly feel like I'm grasping at shadows at this point.
Did I misinterpret the following?
Mood.

I felt like Ace's play felt a little forced (feeling like he was forcing memeing on page 2, for example, due to feeling discomfort). I was attributing this to be potentially because of nerves with his role, hence the slight scum lean. It wasn't so much an opinion of his meta as it was noting a general behavior and a potential reason for that behavior. Granted, there were other people who were memeing in that phase, but his posts in particular were rubbing me weird. I wouldn't call it meta-based because it's not like I'm comparing it to other games I've played with him, but more of a tonal observation.

However, I feel like his discomfort with the current climate this game takes place in was a reasonable explanation for that sort of feeling, like he'd have to force himself to act like everything's okay. Which means the most plausible reason for that behavior is NAI, since people on either faction could feel that kind of pressure. With my reason for the slight scum lean turning into something NAI, my read turned null as well. Hopefully that makes some more sense.

i'm going with my gut and voting ronishy for the moment because that is literally the only even mild scumread i have at the moment. i want to give them the benefit of the doubt because new player but i have to vote for somebody and i'm not hopping on a mog wagon

this is reliant upon what geo deems substantive. someone could easily coast through this game with 3 posts a day, or 2 substantive posts and others cluttering. i’d rather endgame be consistently active people — which is why i’m willing to vote mog/dedenne, not evan (who’ll be replaced)

if endless was mafia he'd be pushing for the inactive cos at least it gets rid of one town imo
think ur underestimating him lmao

I was gonna vote for Ronishy but I expected that after my post, if they are scum, someone (another scum) would come to their defense or excuse their behavior due to being an inexperienced beginner. That didn’t happen though, so now I’m thinking they really might just be a newbie townie. Gosh, now I have no clue.

including roshiny in my pool of people i’m willing to vote. no one did a post count, but i don’t think they’ve contributed much

am on mobile and am lazy

I fell the same, I was going to jump on Ronishy wagon but as no one came for her defense I suggested mog

I agree that lynching an inactive is useless but only in later day phases It's day 1, we don't know who is who and we can't come to a proper conclusion. We have nothing to work with.

I literally think Evan should be voted off. They haven't contributed anything to the game. I also find it weird that people are coming to Evan's defense when they haven't posted anything.

why would you be for killing someone who’s going to be replaced???????? i’m advocating for lower post numbers to be up for elim bc geo could count unrelated posts as “substantive” for mafia to clutter the thread, not someone who hasn’t posted at all and will be switched out??????????

I think evan should probably be discussing a replacement or being totally unresponsive to geoni what will get his placed at this point, no need to vote them off

@epona What do you think of nobody coming to the Ronishy’s defense? I feel like that could be AI for them. (Asking bc you voted them)

because in my experience constructing a wagon on someone who we know in advance won't be around to defend themselves invariably ends up killing town

They aren't even active in the thread, why would they be looking for a replacement.

In total agreement w/ Endless here: NLing/voting an inactive is a horrid idea. Day is short and not contributing Day 1 doesn't mean they won't contribute in the future. We get way more intel based on any kind of interaction right now than the no interaction of the others. The inactivity system is in place for a reason - let it do the work it's meant to do.
