when HHD and amiibo cards were first announced I kind of speculated (and hoped!) Nintendo would do something where they make special event characters, or feature characters from other games with the cards! I'm really a big sucker for this gimmick, I'm sure I'll be trying to collect every card

It looks like they'll be featuring a Felyne villager!! Promoting the re-release of MH Diary: Poka Poka Village DX for 3DS

the only thing is I'm not sure is if its coming to the US or other countries (are the amiibo cards region locked?) but I bet they'll be releasing more special cards, which I really look forward to!!!

I'll post any more collabs I see here

I think the characters name is Shigou. Apparently they're only available through Wi-Fi in Japan at Seven Elevens.

I don't really care for the villagers design, but I love the items! Hopefully theres a worldwide release somehow.

Oh no. I think those cheapen the product. Arffff

Like a virtuose playing the Moonlight Sonata and sticking a few false notes for us to notice.

If Capcom likes it, fine. Please don't pollute my Animal Crossing universe.

Cheapen the product? These are just virtual furniture items from series that some AC fans enjoy. I don't see the problem in this at all.

I think they mean because they're trying to promote the new game. I don't really mind it though

I just hope theres some way for the US and other countries outside of Japan to get these villagers and the items.

I want that felyne villager so badly. I think he would tie for best kitty villager next to Bob. X3

I think the Monster Hunter stuff has a higher chance of getting an international release than the 7-11 stuff.
I don't think the 7-11 stuff made it outside of Japan in NL, because since it's promotional stuff, they'd have needed to have 7-11 NA/EU/AUS/NZ/UK/w.e on board in order to release it in that region. Basically it would have been a big marketing squabble.

The MH stuff is a different story. MH is owned my Capcom, who are basically besties with Nintendo now, so there really isn't any reason for them not to release it. Nintendo has given a lot of their IP's to Capcom to use in MH4U (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, DK, AC, and probs more I'm forgetting), so I don't see why Capcom wouldn't return the favor and put the MH stuff in the English game.
The only reason I see this not happening is because this is to promote the MH Felyne Village MMO game or w/e it's called in Japan, and that game most likely won't get a release outside of Japan since it's a spin off title, and most MH spin off's don't leave Japan, but there's also MHX on the way, which hasn't been announced outside of Japan, but since it's a main series game, it most likely will, so they could easily release the MH collaboration to promote MHX in the west. But MHX isn't even out in Japan yet, and it usually takes a long time for MH games to get localised, and even announced in the west. There aren't and upcoming MH titles in the west at present, and there probably wont be any announced until Q1/Q2 next year I'd say, so if they wanted to release it for promotion in the west we'd probably get it next year some time, but they don't even need a reason to release it here anyway, they can just launch it and done.

Maybe that's just me being bias barbecue I like the MH stuff a lot more and really couldn't care less about the 7-11 stuff, but I really see no reason for the MH stuff not to release in the west.

they could definetly release the MH stuff even without the worldwide re-realese of the Poka Poka game. there's not really any specific item in the dlc promoting that game, so they could just release it as regular MH dlc. we also don't know if its a card or a Nintendo zone thing.

I wouldnt rule out 7-11 dlc completely, they could release it worldwide but probably for download at Nintendo zones. they did re-release japan only dlc for New Leaf albeit after it had been a while, maybe they've seen people really enjoy it.

That Felyne villager is so freaking cute.

It'll be cool if they collaborated some more stuff

I think the characters name is Shigou.
It took me forever to figure out what the first character in their name was, but then I realized it was a 7, and their name is "7ごう", in reference to the other "ごう" villagers (or "numbered" villagers) - Kid Cat (1ごう/Number 1), Agent S (2ごう/Number 2), Big Top (3ごう/Number 3), and Rocket (4ごうNumber 4). I thought there might be new villagers to account for 5ごう/Number 5 and 6ごう/Number 6, but then I realized they were probably labelled 7ごう/Number 7 because they're branded with the 7-11 series.

Yea but that's the thing, they were able to re-release it in Japan because they already had the rights to it. The reason it was never released outside of Japan is probably because 7-11 didn't give the rights to brand it in New Leaf outside of Japan.
As for the MH stuff, like we both said, they don't really need to release it along side a game for promotion reasons, but I'm fairly certain that colab will release outside of Japan.

i know. i just tried to provide the correct pronunciation of the name. 7 ご う = Shi go u

i wasn't talking about the re-release of the 7/11 stuff in japan. im talking about the japanese themed things that were previously japan only but they started releasing worldwide via nintendo zone. and the 7/11 company obviously didnt say to only release the furniture in Japan because the items have made it to worldwide version of New Leaf and Nintendo made translations of the furniture names, so the items werent region locked. that and theres literally no reason for them to say "OK! but only release the items in Japan"

there's a major difference between a japan only DLC item like an ice lamp or w/e was japan only for a while, and a japan only DLC item that's actually branded with a company logo... but yes, the english translations are in the game, but i think that was just because when they localized the game they translated them to English, because they realized people with the japanese version would trade them to English players, and it would be easier for them to find them if they translated them to english, instead of keeping them in Japanese. It's either that, or they originally planned to release the 7-11 items in English games, hence the translations, but at the last minute 7-11 backed out.
and yes there is reason for them to say that they only want them to release them in japan, 'cause even tho it's an international franchise, 7-11 can actually defer them from releasing them in whatever regions they want if they think it'll hinder business in said region.

how would releasing some pixel furniture in a video game hinder business, if anything it would promote it lmao.... more than likely they didnt promote the DLC because 7/11 isnt as popular worldwide as it is in japan. theres no reason for them to tell Nintendo to only release the DLC in Japan and its obvious they didnt because Nintendo made translations for the furniture and made it possible to trade them.

and OK so if they might have planned the 7/11 items for worldwide release theres a possibility they could plan to release the new DLC. can you stop making useless arguments?

Idk I'm not a business runner, but I know some are funny about how they want their products advertised, so all I was saying is it is possible the branches outside of Japan didn't want 7-11 to be displayed in NL for whatever reasons. I was suggesting possibilities as to why the dlc didn't release outside of japan, and yes, 7-11 not being as popular outside of japan is another good reason that I forgot to list. But I still think that the MH has more of a chance than the 7-11 stuff, but I don't see any reason for them to release one and not the other, unless 7-11 outside of Japan bad something to do with it in NL.

And no one is arguing? I don't know what you've been reading to turn this into an "argument" but the whole time it's merely been a discussion and me speculating about the 7-11 set.

you're making speculations and scenarios that don't make any sense? so it sounds like you're trying to argue. like I said again the DLC wasn't region locked so 7-11 didn't tell them not to make it japan only, otherwise they would have made the items untradeable and wouldnt have had translations.
