I will need to explain my winter feast picture below.
A few years ago, when I was a young man in the Air Force without much means to my name, I lived and worked on the east coast while my immediate family lived out west. One Christmas I wanted to visit my family, and believe it or not, the cheapest tickets I could find for my return had me fly back late on Christmas evening.
The vacation with my family was great, and one of the best Christmases I've had... however, the same day as my flight back a blast of cold air from the North met a lot of moisture in the Plains states which led to a nice, disgusting wintery/blizzardy mix for my travel back home. My layover for Christmas evening just happened to be Minneapolis... which promptly shut down the instant I arrived.
My Christmas dinner that year was a sandwich and some chips with some angry/tired flight staff and some frequent flyers that were resigned to their fate. I remember sleeping that night on two green plastic chairs (almost exactly as in the picture below) and leaving for home over 26 hours too late... my back hurts to this day just thinking about it sleeping in those chairs. But... visiting family in a tough year was worth the hassle of the flight back.
Happy Holidays everyone, and a very Happy New Year!
