I haven't gotten much DIYs from other players. and I am missing a bunch still. from seasonal stuff to default stuff. I don't buy them. I just wait or get them from friends occasionally. and then one time someone tipped me a bunch (thank you so much)
Have most players playing since launch collected the majority of the "ordinary" DIY's?

I missing like iron shelf and some other diys. But i got a lot of diy to trade and i am in the same ship as Ciary by waiting or get them from friends or Trade.
I haven't been playing since launch but there are a lot of ppl who have spare diys and many of the islands that I've visited had spare diys lying around that visitors could take so even for new players I think it's very easy to get the common diys quickly. I actually regret taking the diys I didnt have from others because almost every time a villager is crafting now or there is a message in a bottle I have the diy.
Yep, I'd say I pretty much have all for current seasons since release. I mainly just sell/throw away any that are low/medium interest and only keep high interest ones to give away at this point.
I've been giving away things mostly on reddit as of late just because, experience wise with off-loading items, traffic/responses are very high and quick. So, people tend to be ready very quick especially for free DIYs.

Other than some wreaths/crowns, there are only a small handful I still need, and only one of those I really want: the decoy duck.
On the flip side I have a whole basement of DIYs and I find them getting harder and harder to give away. I’ll probably just go in with my boyfriend’s player and learn them all...
I consider ordinary DIYs any you can get from villagers crafting. So not seasonal or Celeste DIYs.

I did a giveaway a few days ago and got rid of like 40 or 50 DIYs. Might be a timing thing? or you didn't have very popular DIYs?
I started at launch have all of the regular and Celeste recipes at this point but I went hardcore trading them for a week or two. I think most people have close to all of them but if they're not very actively trading, they'll still have some missing ones. Plus there are always new players!
I have all of the regular DIYs, but not the seasonal or Celeste ones. I was searching really intently for a couple weeks to get them. Maybe the low demand is because some people aren't in a rush to find them and others who are more dedicated to collecting DIYs have had the game long enough to find them? It could also be the time a thread is posted?

To me, regular DIYs are the ones that are not seasonal/event specific (like the cherry blossom DIY, the summer DIY, etc), not Celeste DIY, and not the wreaths or crown DIYs which seem somehow wayyy more rare than the other DIYs.

If I had to rely on DIYs that my island provides, I doubt I will ever complete them. My selection of villagers will prevent me from doing so because I lack villager personality types. But, also because of that, I have an abundance of duplicates that only go to waste.
I think a lot of it depends on how active you've been checking villagers in your own island making DIYs, if you get the 2 every day, and how often you hunt for villagers. If you've island hunted a ton either looking for your dreamies, or cycling out villagers, odds are you've found a lot more of the ordinary (non seasonal) DIYs.
Through my experience, I have found that most people on here and Nookazon have found the more common DIYS already or have bought them if they haven't. I'm one of those people, I would stalk villager crafting threads or just find ones I needed on Nookazon and buy them. If they're rarer, like the flower wreaths and crowns, most people don't seem to have those.
If I can't give them away on here or Nookazon, I set up a public turnip exchange and see if anyone comes in. If they still don't I go to Reddit and ask there. Theeeeen I give up and sell but it hurts me to sell when I feel like someone MIGHT need them, Lol.
