Help finding ranchu goldfish!

I've spent 100 fish bait now looking for this little bugger. All I am getting are crayfish - am I fishing the wrong sized shadow? The tiniest one was just giving me the other goldfish and tadpoles.

Even the golden trout was easier than this!!

Don't use fish bait. Find the pond nearest a building, and exit and re-enter each time you see a fish to reset the spawns. Sometimes there will be no fish, that's ok, just keep resetting. Ranchu is size 2 which I think is a size about the other 2 goldfish, but the same as crayfish. Only between 9am-4pm I believe. Keep trying, it isn't that common.

I am only getting goldfish from the smallest shadow, the same as tadpole. I guess I'll keep trying!

It's the second size - bigger shadow then the tadpole~

I believe goldfish and pop-eyed goldfish are size 1, and crayfish, frog and ranchu goldfish are size 2. Still worth catching them all though.

I got my first one during the tournament yesterday, after 23 days of playing. I probably don’t usually fish that early. It’s a good thing we were able to grab fish out of the cooler!

Cherry Salmon spawn in the river on the cliffs, if I remember correctly.

They're not too common.
I only caught 3 so far and, yes, they only spawn between 9 am to 4 pm.
I feel that now with the crawfish, the chance is even reduced because it's really easy to confuse the shadows.
I'm waiting on my 3rd one because I need to give it to CJ to get a model made - one of my beloved Ranchu fish actually passed away a few weeks ago so I'd love to have a model made to commemorate her.

I finally got one, and then another subsequent 10. But it took me forever to get my first one. I got a stringfish before I got a cherry salmon.

I got 2 stringfish before I got a cherry salmon, char, golden trout and pop eyed goldfish
I got a ranchu before my first goldfish, but I spent 50 bait getting a popeyed

A tip for catching pondfish, if you can terraform, make many little ponds and run through them if its the wrong shadow. I made like 5 ponds and found my ranchu goldfish in a few tries

Oh, this is a great tip!!

I caught the 4 I needed though, but now I'd really like to catch some guppies. It will have to wait until tomorrow, though.

Thats great! Yeah I have too, but it's a nice tip for future months with new pond fish

Just a tip. You have better luck catching them in October through March, as Crawfish aren't around in those months. But watch out for cans.

That's a great tip. I just didn't/don't have the patience to wait 6 more months. ;D
