How do you Beat The Heat?

I pretty much stay out of the heat as much as possible. Several of the medications I'm on can cause me to overheat very quickly when out in the sun/hot temps which can be dangerous so I try to stay indoors in the AC when I'm able to. When I have to go places I wear sunscreen, I burn very easily, and I bring a big cold water bottle with me, I also wear a hat to keep the sun out of my eyes. I try to stay hydrated and avoid caffeine if I'm going to be out in the sun, and I also try to make sure I've eaten enough so I don't get lightheaded. When I'm home I sometimes take semi-cold showers, or put a cool wash cloth or ice pack on my neck or forehead

I freaking hate the heat so bad. I sweat like a monsoon!

I cover my windows with paper bags and turn on the A/C. I drink tons of cold water and don't go outside. Unfortunately it's usually still a bit too warm in my room after doing all that, so when it's too unbearable, I'll just go to a public building like the library or a cafe and "borrow" their A/C-ed premises.

Where I live, 105 F and up is the norm from late May until October. We’re lucky that most people and stores have ACs and cooling centers set up. However, when electricity is unavailable water becomes our main source of cooling off.

Also, eat small meals even if you don’t feel like it. If you don’t have access to food, you should try drinking Pedialyte or other drinks with electrolytes. They even sell some just in powder.

The way houses are designed will define how difficult it will be to stay cool. Houses with low ceiling trap heat in more. Even little stuff like the color and material of shingles can make your house trap in more heat.
edit: I almost forgot but double-glazed windows can supposedly help. Now you can’t up and buy a new house on a whim, but getting the windows replaced might be more reasonable. There are even triple-glazed and beyond. They supposedly help with noise too. They famously help deal with cool weather, but research says they can help with heat too. To be honest, I wouldn’t actually know for sure, because houses down here don’t even have so much as double-glazing as a standard. Do your research on that if you think you would like something like that or have the means etc.
I believe that this is correct. On tv I often see commercials for double glazed windows.

If this option is too expensive, then you can place aluminum foil on your windows as a cheap (although rather ugly) fix. It will bounce off the rays of sunlight. Alternatively, you can also buy sun blocking curtains. It helps a little.

During the evening, you can hang wet garments or sheets near open doors or windows.

Stay inside with the air conditioner. I did some gardening last week and I almost fainted from the heat. I had to lie down on the floor inside for a couple of minutes.
I drink a lot of water and that didn’t even help. It was 91 degrees, but the phone says it felt like 110. I even woke up early to avoid the peak sun, but there was no avoiding it.

Cali resident checking in and yeah it's been pretty hot recently. I guess that's gonna be the new norm right? Hotter each year. I've just been inside mostly and drinking tons of water. I've been trying to be conscience about running the AC all day so we got a couple fans going. I try and get all my outdoor chores in in the morning to avoid the peak hot.

Howdy dowdy folks! It's currently 109⁰F (42⁰C) out here in ol' California, with a daily high of 115⁰ (46⁰C). Our yearly heat wave decided to come late this year, yippee.

When it's hot out for you, what do you do to beat the heat? Reasonable heat over here makes me crave ice cream, otter pops, and lots of water. I like to stay inside, but I'll occasionally bask for that sweet sweet Vitamin D.

Heat like this makes me wanna curl up inside with some iced coffee, maybe playing some games, the fan blasting. Still drinking lots of water of course!

Tell me how you beat the heat. I need suggestions, and a distraction from this 😵‍💫
There's an easy answer to this question, I don't

I just sit outside getting roasted, I'm not a sunscreen person. I came out with a lot of sunburns this summer.

Summers only get a few days over 90 degrees F here on the east coast, so I just chill in the shade, get ice cream, or hang in the ac.

I run the air conditioner at full blast. I saw what they're doing in Denver... I'd just hack my thermostat at that point

I stay indoors, keep the fan on and drink plenty of water. Being awake during night hours helps too.

*Laughs as an Australian*

We are in spring at the moment and I'm already dying of heat I have the aircon on....... Summer is coming around the corner I am not looking forward to it :(

I just have a massive water bottle next to me at all times and have a packet of these in the freezer:

Currently my solution to beating the heat is that I'm in Alaska. But something I find funny is how people here are annoyed with how warm it has been recently, it's been around 25-36 degrees Fahrenheit. The snow just keeps melting and freezing which makes everything super icy.

But during the summers where it has been getting pretty hot it sucks. Most houses don't even have air conditioning so we need box fans. If you want an actually cold room you can prop the fan in the windowsill and it's very effective. Also there are a ton of lakes to cool of in.
