Some parts I could do without (the character hair in the gameplay footage being really shiny, for example) but I think they did well transitioning to HD.
For me it was kind of a negative surprise at first, the game kind of looks like an HD version of New Leaf and I expected the visual style to scale up from New Leaf in terms of detail. So for me the issue at first was that I had expectations and I didn't expect this.
HOWEVER, after watching the treehouse coverage I already got used to the visuals and I have faith in the team behind the game that this game will be just as good, if not better than New Leaf. I also wanna say that the ui is really neat and clean, it follows the minimalist theme most new Nintendo games seem to follow now but I kinda like that so yay.
The delay sucks but actually for there is a small benefit to it 'cause I'm a big Mario Maker fan so now I have a bit more time to actually invest time into that game before Animal Crossing takes over my entire life again
The graphics seemed weirdly soft to me, if that makes sense, and I also really don't like how shiny the players' hair will be. But I'm sure I'll get used to everything, and I wouldn't be surprised if they still made small changes to some things, anyway.
My first thought when the graphics first appeared was 'spin-off', but that's probably because I've trained my brain thinking it'll resemble the MK8 modelling and whatnot. I'm glad they didn't go down that route though, because on the second watch I really love the modelling and structure of everything, and especially the dynamic weather. I think they just need to touch up the grass/water/building/etc detailing a bit, and maybe the colouring, but otherwise I really love the graphics and I'm pretty hyped about the game so far.
The only thing I'd possibly change is the minimalism approach within the menus, the pocket menu and the nook phone menus looked kinda bleak to be honest, so I'm hoping that's not the final design.
When I first saw the game I was really disappointed I thought that it didn't really look like Animal Crossing to me. Your character kind of looks like a toy with everything being too shiny/plasticity. I've played evey animal crossing game so im definitey still going to get it, but i think ill just have to get use to it looking so diffrent from the others.
First impression was like okay I don't like the crafting part and everything feels empty - but now I am totally hyped I watched the trailer like 50 times and the treehouse demo as well. But now I love it so much. I can't wait! We can creat such creativ towns! So many ways to do things! All I want now are some real cool and new festivals and events.
Apparently the shiny hair is a big thing for many? I mean, my hair looks shiny like that after I washed it so it looks natural to me idk what's wrong with it. If anything it makes it canon that the villagers shower which is great thank god
I hated it at first. But the treehouse video made it look so cool. Plus. Remember how new leaf looked when they first showed it in 2011? They changed so much before releasing it. They could do that with this game as well. But I love it so much and I’m so excited.
i think some things are sort of ugly to be honest. but animal crossing new leaf was ugly at E3 too so hopefully it will change. i just don't really like the super smooth lighting, the hair shine or the style of some things.
