• Guest, you're invited to help build our new TBT time capsule! It contains three parts, with some of its elements planned to open in 2029 and others not until the distant future of 2034. Get started in 2024 Community Time Capsule: Blueprints.

How do you feel about the look of new horizons?

I had only seen the trailer when I posted before, but after watching the entire presentation I'm having second thoughts.

Mileage?
No bells?

The graphics looked very flat, like the water, it looked better in New Leaf.
It feels in some parts like a downgrade.

I think it looks too much like PC.
I don't know how I feel now.

Deflated

Well, not necessarily no bells... Tom Nook "tallys up" your total cost which is around 49k bells I believe. And you can sell things that you don't need, as seen in the Treehouse session, for bells. The little bell tally is still in the upper corner of the screen. I'm just offput by the fact that there's no bank/Post Office to send/recieve mail or use the ATM -- BUT I am sure that we will "build" that. They're certainly not going to do away with that...

Yeah I think we'd build those.
At second look though, it was very bright. The items weren't as realistic looking as they were in New Leaf. Like the bonfire. Definately a downgrade.

I thought it would look more like it did in the Mario Kart track.

I'm sure it will improve before release.

If you watched the Treehouse presentation, you'll see Bells are still in game. They sold things to Nooklings.

There appears to be an ATM in the Nook Inc. tent in the bottom right, although it could be a catalog machine.

I'm almost positive there will be a way to send and receive mail early on as well because your tent has a mailbox.

Why not both though?

That is true! I did not catch that the first time around.

I also hope that that Nook tent gets an upgrade lol... And that big block of dirt. Doesn't look very sightly is all. I'm sure it'll progress with the rest of the town.

I'd expect the big block of dirt to be a stone pavilion eventually, for event hosting.

I guess I was just really ... underwhelmed? I was reeeallly hoping it was going to be more pretty? Like the Mario Kart 8 track. I mean, that's where my standards were at so that's probably why I was so disappointed. It's not entirely bad but i'm just not a fan of the art style. It doesn't look like something that would appeal to the 19-25 age demographic and more like something aimed towards children.

I feel like it's a hybrid of pocket camp and new leaf...more on the pocket camp side. I was hoping for more detail or even a city-scape theme. I agree with others that it looks like it's for kids...it's certainly not as crisp.

It's not so bad indoors, but the overworld looks really washed out. The contrast between the objects in the distance and the sky decrease too quickly for me. I hope they're still working on the lighting, but even if this is the final look I'll buy it and get used to it, hah.

The artistic style looks different, but I'm sure it will grow on me.
The colours on certain things looks a bit desaturated.

I?m not a huge fan of the graphics, but it did grow on me a little from the gameplay shown during treehouse. I LOVE the weather conditions affecting the trees and leaves. The randomness of weeds give a feeling of more natural growth. But then you see those rigid dirt paths created with the shovel... ugh... I hope there?s more natural ways to build a dirt path than those linear lines. After a while i?ll get used to the graphics so it?s not a big deal. I?m still hyped :D

Not gonna lie, when I first saw it, it kinda put me off,, mostly because the colors were very overwhelming and different from what we were use to in AC games,,, the more I watch it though, the more I fall in love with everything, even the tiniest details make me happy,, I love the new features and can't wait to see more of the game

I like it, but I think it's going to end up looking very different by the time it's released.

It reminds me a lot of the links awakening remake. more plastic and less personable in my opinion.
I think if they toned down the colors and made things like 5% less realistic, it would take the design in a direction they were trying to go without it being off-putting.

It still looks very nice tho ~

I'm not really a fan of the graphics, but it's grown on me since I first saw it - some of it looks fine, like the villagers and trees and plants, and the winter scene in the trailer looks great, but a lot of the rest looks too smooth and plastic.

I think it looks nice. The colors look a bit brighter than I'd personally prefer (Fuchsia practically blinded me) but it definitely isn't bad, and definitely looks way better than New Leaf? Have ya'll played New Leaf in a minute? It looks sad in comparison

The more I watch the gameplay the more I feel this was built around PC, and that is off-putting.

I just don't know.
