how do you have your villagers set up?

I have mine organized in a little neighborhood. Each villager has a little patio outside their house where there are items matching their personalities and hobbies. I used to have them more spread put with individual yards, but that took up way too much space. I like how it's set up now much better.

I do really like the islands I've visited where each villager is spread out with much more space decorated for them, but I'm not sure I want to go to all that effort again. We'll see, I guess.

I have little neighbourhoods for villagers with similar house exteriors:
Beach town: Cyd and my island rep
Main residential district: Freya, Ursala, Scoot, Dizzy, and Jambette
Traditional village: Ken and Hamphrey
Second residential district: Erik and my alt character

I'm in the middle of terraforming/rearranging again right now, so the only villager that is looking like they'll be on their own somewhere is Tabby. She's the only one with a shanty looking straw house that doesn't fit very well with my rural town theme and other villagers so it's hard to place her in a neighbourhood with the rest. In my previous island versions she has always had her own special area I like to call "tabby town".

While i found neighborhoods awesome (i have one in New Leaf), this time i preferred to have them in different spaces.

Well, maybe except for Tia and Vivian.

I have mine all set up at the bottom south near the beach. Sort of like that it's a private beach area. I did that early on because I wasn't sure what to expect as far as updates go and extra buildings and so I wanted to reserve space for that. I may switch things up later depending on what happens or not. That way it will resemble the set up from the old AC games.

My villagers are in mini neighbourhoods where they live with villagers they get along with well (personality wise). However I am going to reset soon so I think that I want to do it differently this time around.

Most of mine are together in a "neighborhood" but I got a bit lazy and stopped moving them. I mostly did this so I could be flexible in terraforming!

my villager setup is honestly pretty scattered and messy atm 😅. i have 3 houses on the beach, 1 in the garden, 1 in the forest, 1 near the shops, 1 near the museum and the remaining 3 in my current neighbourhood-type area. once i have 10 permanent villagers, my plans are to have 6 of them in a neighbourhood with the other 4 having their own specialized areas, but this is definitely subject to change. ^^

I have what I would call “little neighbourhoods” where I have plotted 2/3 houses. Only one of my villager is secluded ☺️

I have their houses spread out across the island, and while they're decorated, most of them don't really have dedicated/fenced off yards.
At some point I noticed I was accidentally putting them in a sort-of circular shape, and I've started doing that on purpose now because I think it looks neat on the map:

They're all over the island, but still kinda organised. :)
I should probably move that house in the bottom right corner to make them line up even better. The one in the center is Elvis' home. Where else would I put Narnia's one and only lion king?

My island is set up like this:

The houses in the lower half of my island are spaced out 3-4 holes. Where my island’s cliffs are villager houses are much more spaced out. Neither neighborhoods have a yard.

On Destiny I have their homes in a Vertical line up and On Twilight I have them setup at a Horizontal lining. You check out the Dream address in the signature to see what they look like.

Mine are pretty random, Bob and Curt are next to each other with their own space next to a lake, Dom is on his own near another lake close to the town plaza, Henry and Poppy are along the walkway to the Able Sister's + other side of the island, Astrid has her own space near the Able Sister's, and behind that area is where Pompom, Bianca and Opal are. No consistency at all, I know lol

They're all in the same part of the island, and their houses are in groups of two. Vesta and Lucky live in the northwest (with a small space between their houses), then a little southeast of them are Cranston and Judy, then a space the size of a house, then Roald and Anabelle. Next to them, below a cliff, there's Tangy and Melba. Then finally behind them on top of the cliff are Drago and Marshal.

Here's a map I quickly made since I don't have an actual picture of my island on my computer. The black parts are their houses, brown is their lawns, light green is the bottom level, dark green is the second level, grey is the ramps, and each house is labeled with my villagers' initials (top M is Marshal, bottom M is Melba).

I don't have a current map, but all of my villagers are going to live on the inside of the spiral, whilst my island rep will keep her spot on the beach.

I have my houses in 4 different living areas but I’m thinking of moving all the houses to one spot on my island so I have more room to decorate and design

on my previous island i had them all set up in a neighbourhood - later i'll try and find a picture to edit in here but i had four on the lowest level, four on the second level and two on the third if that makes sense, and they were all lined up with each other (so five on the left five on the right with a staircase down the middle). i really liked having this bc it felt more uniform and i still had space to give them all little garden areas, but this time around i'm spacing my villagers out a bit more. haven't fully decided what i'm going to do yet but for now i have two little pond areas with houses around them, plus a couple villagers living up in the 'mountains'

I am currently in the process of developing this. I think I'm gonna have 2 residential areas, one of those being a rural, whilst the main is more city (I am including my other characters I created in that part, so it's more built up like a city).

random! since i've been trying to do a village, i have them all scattered around. i was going to have them all together at first, but i didn't dig the idea that much.

My island is split into different segments.

The front, western portion of my island features the businesses and other important buildings like the Resident Services building and museum. Across the river to the east is a wooded area where the campsite is situated.

The back half of the island is all residential. All the houses are there for both the animal residents and all of my playable characters. As things stand currently, they're basically all split between the second and third tiers, so I don't have fancy patterns down on the ground for elaborate neighborhoods or anything like that. It's more natural; I largely kept things the way they were when I started, save for minor tweaks. I might eventually get it so all of the houses are on the third, highest tier like I originally planned, but I also just might not bother. Time will have to tell.
