• Guest, can you feel the love in the air? Valentine's Week at The Bell Tree has begun with a new mini-event featuring four activities to enjoy -- new and returning collectibles are up for grabs! Dive in to the love here.

How do you really feel about DIY’s?

Do I like finding them? Yes. Do I like what's inside? Depends. LOVE the glowing moss and vines though, and the autumn crafts.:lemon: The cooking is still confusing to me, though.
Meh cooking is like the same as crafting. Instead of getting materials you need to get different types of crops to make the food.

Oh I know. I just mean...it's hard to find all the right crops and ingredients to make certain dishes.
I know what you mean especially when you only have to get them from Leif and whats annoying is that his stock is random every week Monday. It took me a while to get all the crops I needed to make dishes.

I enjoy the DIYs; I just don't like getting the duplicate cards. At the very least I wish they had a special storage container for large amounts of duplicate DIYs in case I had visitors or whatever.

Ok first off…fish bait. Don’t judge me.

Now then overall I love the DIYs. Just certain ones like seasonal and that one that I need for a build that is really basic but for some reason the game just doesn’t give it to me, can be a pain.

I think they're alright but I Def agree with others that all tools breaking and hunting down elusive diys is a pain. Also being bogged down with loads of extra diys is suuuuper annoying.

I like crafting. I do need more wood now that I think of crafting. But it's nice being able to make it, it's much more quicker than ordering it. I wish bulk crafting was added but at least I have a turbo button on my controller.

I am really mixed about this. The idea seems pretty nice, but I am not sure it was realized in the best way. On the one hand, they contribute to make the game "longer" which is a good thing in a game like Animal Crossing, but on the other hand, crafting everything and ESPECIALLY the main items like the net, the shovel and the rest is really boring. Annoying is the right word for this, I guess. It's quite good and intelligent as a feature in early game, but after a while, it just becomes "something more" that you need to do while creating your island or focusing on your main goals in the game. For foods it's really a good idea, but it is not for some items and especially for the main ones that I mentioned before. Also, but maybe it's just me, without the online is quite a struggle to find many DIYs, because you also risk to find the ones you already had. This feature is extremely good when it comes to multiplayer because it implies exchanging, but as a single player you can only sell them for a little price. Also, even the theme-based DIYs are not all easy to find. For example, I was looking for a DIY during the Hanami event (it's a lantern, but I don't remember the name) but after repeating the event three times, I still didn't find it. Maybe I was unlucky, maybe I should have done better, but it's still slightly annoying and time draining, considering we are talking about a game that is already slow lol.

I hate them. When the game first came out, the announcements made it seem like we would have the option to buy the items if we didn’t want to craft them. That is not the case. I don’t like the work that goes into finding the items needed to craft. If we could buy the crafting materials, it wouldn’t be so bad.

I love them actually - it is a lot of fun collecting materials and craft items. It feels more like my furniture when I craft it myself. It also adds something to the game that not everything can be bought with bells.
The main thing I hate with diys is the randomness of getting tons of the ones you already have. And not being able to decline getting "one for a friend" from a crafting villager. I enjoy the sharing of diys, but would like the option to not get one I already have in my inventory.

I really like DIYs. I feel like crafting and cooking and gathering materials has helped add an important element to the game and make it that much more engaging and enjoyable to me. It's definitely been a part of why I have managed to play this game daily since the beginning, since without DIYs the game would definitely be missing something to keep me coming back to it. It's definitely something that I hope continues to be in the series after this.

I honestly really like DiYs, though I think a fair amount of it owes to being able to share them with people and help them get recipes they're missing. It adds an additional layer to helping others that makes the game more engaging! I always loved collecting stuff, so being able to help others on what I can't use anymore is neat.

The only grievance I have with it is the fact you can only craft one item at a time: it flabbergasts me why we can craft ten flour, but we can't even have the option to craft more than one fish bait per instance. I mean... really???

Were you not able to store DIY’s until after the 2.0 update? I only started playing right when the 2.0 update came out, so I didn’t really see what the game was liked before the update.
Yeah you were only able to drop them, they couldn't go in your storage. It was a real pain.
