I haven't taken a break yet from the game, but there were some day I couldn't play because I was busy or wanted to do other things. Though I also never played hours upon hours upon hours, so I think not having played the game that intensly as some other people have (read: whole days of playing AC or grinding fish, bugs, etc.) is key here. I still have lots to do: have decorated not even half of my island, could still trade for a lot of stuff, still like to talk to my villagers (have not received a photo yet, though).
In other words: taking it slow since the beginning (March) has been my way of not getting burned out from the game at all. It is still my way of relaxing during the day and I love that
I've missed one or two days of new horizons, I've been considering taking a break just to play some other games. I love animal crossing, but I've played a lot and I want to take a small break from designing my island. I still check in on my villagers every day, but I am looking forward to seeing Fall so I'll probably keep playing, just less.
I've taken lots of longer hiatuses from animal crossing in the past because I've been playing on and off for years since the gamecube game.
I've kind of been in a hiatus for around 3 months now, only checking in for TBT events. I can't see myself getting back into the full swing of it again until I get a break from college, which could be anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 years... lol
I was playing literally everyday for at least one-two hours since launch (March) but have recently been feeling burnt out from it in August. I'll sometimes go on for literally 5 minutes to check the stores then thats it for the day, or sometimes not go on it at all. So overall I'd say my hiatus has lasted 2 or 3 weeks now, and is still going on. However, I am thinking of time traveling to autumn to finally get those mush items (im northern hemisphere) especially if there isn't a major update for September.
I've taken many AC hiatuses in the 12.5 years I've been playing, but in terms of ACNH I've taken about a month off so far. I'm still not actively playing it, I just hop on once every few days to participate in fair activities, so I guess technically I'm still on a hiatus. Chances are I won't be getting back into it until they announce the fall update (I'm really excited for Halloween in NH since that's my favorite holiday).
currently in a hiatus// starting up Subnautica again (I already completed the game once but the games environment really draws me in despite it being heckin' terrifying, I just gotta do that to myself again)
There are a couple instances where I haven't been able to play for several days in a row just due to real life stuff, but thankfully New Horizons seems to be much more forgiving about you taking breaks than previous games have been. I at least don't have to worry about villagers moving out on their own. Otherwise, I've been pretty regular about playing the game, although I'm the type of person who goes through my Animal Crossing journey very slowly after I get past expanding my house haha.
I wish i put off playing till i was done gardening but i simply had to play for all the cherry blossoms diys wish i wasnt a chicken about time traveling then but how was i too know for sure i could still get all the diys anyways but now i really need to finish my outdoor projects cause im moving in about a week! so i am now on a week hiatus so far... will not be playing probably for another few weeks i have to pack and then drive across country and then ill play again once i get there.. planted the goji berries planted the elder berries planted 24 trees now i have to finish 3 more garden beds and do a final touchup.... the games really too time consuming for me.. im too busy!!! But i miss it a lil... im just happy julians there now...
When I fell off the daily streak at around the 140-something day mark I came back and my creatures told me it had been two weeks. I now get on about every other day to do the rounds, pick up the weeds, check who's in town, etc. Projects around the island will be a lot slower ofc, but I think this is how I'd prefer to play while I'm focusing on school
Mine lasted about a month or two because I remember skipping over the wedding event and came back around mid-July. Nowadays I just check the shops everyday, talk to villagers, and slowly kinda work on my island piece by piece. I don't really do much or play as long as I had used to. The reason why I sorta came back was because college was starting for me and I wanted to play something that would ease my anxiety since it's my first year. Having something like Animal Crossing gives me a bit of comfort to check back every now and then c:
