How many animal villagers can we have?

Sorry if this is a dumb or silly question, but I would love to have more than ten living in my town! Have they said anything about increasing the cap?

They haven't said anything as far as I know but the town looks way bigger than any previous game so I'm hopeful for more than 10.

like i said in a post on a different thread, a screenshot on the official acnh website showed at least 9 villagers celebrating a bridge pwp's installation. so we at least have 9 villagers.

There's this screenshot showing nine villagers at a bridge inauguration, so I'm guessing it'll be like NL: a maximum of nine villagers and one extra villager that you can convince to move in. It'd be nice if you could have more than nine, especially if you don't plan on having all eight players on one island. I'm thinking twelve would be pretty cool, but I guess ten is alright.

I could even see that being room for 14 villagers (not including yourself). 5 rows of 3 perhaps?

Here's hoping we get something like 15 for the max. With so many villagers (including all the new ones we can likely expect) it's getting harder and harder to pick a top 10!

I’d love this however, I doubt it’s that many. I think the rescue service is more so to fast travel home vs getting lost. Idk maybe I’m wrong and maybe the island is really big.

I mean to fit 8 people plus animals it does have to be pretty big right?

i might’ve counted wrong but i think there’s only 23 houses on that map

It could be the same amount as in New Leaf, 9 + 1 villagers. However, i expect it to be more of them

I want 12-15 villagers but I fully expect there to be only ten again. I have no evidence of this except for a gut feeling
