🎮How many Nintendo games you wish you could refund from eshop?

none really? i tend to buy physical versions of games.

small edit cus i was reminded of this post:
when i do buy any games i do heavy research into it and watch gameplay first before buying and i suggest you do. i really hate when i end up not getting a game so i always do this. also see if any of your friends may have it first too so you can try it out!!

For 3ds:

Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon: the beginning tutorial part took forever and I just wasn’t a fan of the gameplay ):

Paper Mario Sticker Star: thought it’d be like the other paper Mario but thankfully only paid like $8 for the game

for switch:
Hollow Knight: honestly just not a big fan of these games, bought into the hype 😔

Super Mario Party: no updates and the only fun parts are the rhythm/mini games..but that only goes so far

Octopath traveler: enjoyed the demo but didn’t realize that it was basically going to be the same exact gameplay & grinding the entireeee game and real tie-ins to the characters at the end

Kind of Splatoon 2. I mean, don't get me wrong it's a nice game but I regret getting the expansion as well because I cba finishing because I can't just do the tracks lol. Also the multiplayer is really bad with smurfs and stuff unless you play with friends, I think it's been worse since all the re-splatfests as well. Just wish I got it physical man.

I believe the only digital game I have ever purchase is stardew valley which I love (despite not having mods) but I wish I could get a refund for my physical copies of Story of Season Trio of Towns (3DS) and Super Mario Party (switch) both games I hated.

Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town. I have not played it since I bought it cause I learned you can't change your hair or clothes lmao. Also the beginning was so boring, I was just running around my farm not knowing what to do.

Pokemon Shield: I never even finished it cause it was too easy and I was basically forcing myself to continue to play hoping there would be some excitement.

Also these games come to $80 Canadian so it's not 60 bucks I wasted, it's more like $85.99 after taxes.

Maybe Okami? It's a great game and I did enjoy, but I eventually fell out of it when I got Dragon Quest and Pokemon last winter, and ever since I just don't feel motivated to pick it back up.

Woah that's expensive! I would like to return Pokèmon sword too, that my sister got from Gamestop. It was a total waste of money. She only played it for 5 days and never ever went back to the game. I was the only one who bothered to play it because l'm a fan of Pokemon. But the game was too short, bad new pokemon added in the game, story was dumb, to oeasy and boring, and last l'm not wasting almost 90$ for stupid DLC to get the Pokèmon l want. Seriously i wished the DLC was free...

As a fellow Canadian, I feel this! I bought a digital version of Let's Go Eevee and it came to $90 after taxes. Legit almost killed me. Luckily I'm enjoying the game so far but I did intense research before buying because Switch games aren't cheap nowadays!

You have every right to be angry! imo Sword and Shield hiding content that should have been in the game since release behind paywalls frustrates me to no end. It's extremely shady.

I bought 3 indie visual novels that I'd like to refund. I got them on sale so it's not like I wasted a ton of money on them or anything, but still... 2 of them weren't terrible, just really boring, but 1 had content that made me uncomfy. Should have read the reviews on that one first, lol.

For me Super Smash Bros. I really don't have the accuracy or dedication to play it. The UI is a bit confusing to me as well -- I was a casual Melee player and the huge feature jump was a bit much for me to handle.

I refuse to buy games digitally because I'm smart enough to know the regret I may get if I don't like it, and if my gaming console get's corrupted and the game I own is on digital and that only I'll never get it back, meaning I'd have to spend same price to get it again.

So that's why I always buy Physical copies. I always take care of them so they're in prefect condition if I wanna replay them. (As a kid I didn't know any better, that's why if I wanna replay those old games, they may just not work at all. Or they will work, with just some wacky stuff or unintentional softlocks)

With that being said, I don't regret buying any digital copies because I haven't bought any that way!

1. Floor Kids. The art style was appealing, but the tutorial was confusing and vague.

2. Brave Dungeon + Dark Witch’s Story:Combat. For $15 I got two mediocre RPGs with zero substance.

3. Don’t Starve. Perma-death is such a cheap way to increase the difficulty, especially in games where it doesn’t contribute to the story.

None. I try to buy physical with any big purchases...so the only digital ones I make are either free, really cheap, or games that are "digital only" (which I already know I want bad enough to pay for). With all that in mind...I really don't get upset or feel "ripped off" by anything I buy. I either get it for free (or cheap enough that it might as well be free)...or I've done my homework on the game and know that I'll like it. In fact, there really haven't been any "regrettable" purchases for me on any system for about 15 or 20 years. I usually know far in advance if something is worth my money or not.

Off the top of my head:

Smash Bros 3DS: I bought it due to hype but fighting type games just aren't for me. I think my friend got more use out of it when my anime club had a get together a few years ago and everyone was playing Smash 3DS with each other but he only had the Wii U version. I just lent him my whole 3DS so he could join them.

Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon: I thought I'd like the mystery dungeon games but I couldn't really get into this one. It was my first one of the series so I don't know if the series just isn't for me or just this specific game was meh.

Cattails: It's a cute looking indie game but for whatever reason I can't catch food to save my life so I basically just keep dying right at the beginning. I hope to give it another try in the future but I remember being frustrated by it.

I personally only have 2 regrets that I wish I could get a refund on: Super Mario Odyssey, and Fire Emblem Warriors. Although Odyssey was enjoyable, I'm not a completion, and the game didn't last very long unless I was aiming for moons. I am however, playing it again and making an attempt at getting moons just to get the moons, but it's not as satisfying.

I expected different from Fire Emblem Warriors. I was excited for Hyrule Warriors and the gameplay that offered, but at the time, FE:W was cheaper so I decided to grab that. Having to move my own characters was monotonous to me and kind of ruined it for me.

And honestly, since then, I haven't gone digital again other than to satisfy some family game nights like Overcooked 2.

The Escapists. I really enjoyed the sequel (which I played first) but the first game was just broken beyond reason (on Switch at least). Got halfway through before all the glitches and crashes made me just give up. A shame since I love the concept. Didn't pay much for it though, think it was like 80-90% off.

The only eshop game I think I wish I could refund was Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remaster

It’s just such a joke of a port; they somehow managed to make it worse. I had a dedicated group of 4 I planned to run the whole game with just like the old days but we just couldn’t because you have to run each dungeon 4 times, it takes like 10 minutes to get everyone back into the dungeon after all the bs loading screens and menus, and they didn’t really fix anything at all that was wrong with the original game.

I’m just so sad about that game, I ignored the warning signs about the game I loved the game as a kid and it’s just.... so bad....

I kinda wish I could refund New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe (what a title) for the Switch. I got the game back then because I really wanted to play a Mario game after so long and the game just came out around that time. Overall, I only played it for like 2-3 hours in total? I don't know, it looks not bad and all, pretty sure it's fun the more you get into it. However, I lost quite quick my motivation playing it and right now, I'm not interested at all to continue my save file. Perhaps I will give it another try one day, otherwise I honestly regret it to bought it for the full price in the eShop.

Honestly, none. I tend to go for physical copies, and even if I do get something digital, I always make sure I’ll enjoy something before buying it.
