Hey guys!

Now I know I should be asking elsewhere for this and not on an Animal Crossing forum but what can ya do.

So within the last few months, I've lost 15 pounds, seemingly random since I wasn't trying but now my clothes are becoming loose on me and I don't have the money to buy new ones. I'm now 115lbs and I'm 23 years old. I was 130lbs which I was happy with. The only changes to my diet I can think of is that I stopped drinking juice so often and swapped it out with water and I also picked up yoga class once a week. Not sure if that would do it or if it's something else.

But anyways, I wanna gain the weight back to fill out my clothes again. How would you recommend it in a healthy way? My guess is eating more healthy fats and protein?

My first thought would be to go to the doctor. Having a random weight loss over a short period of time, could be a medical reason as to way - for example, a thyroid problem.

Gaining and losing weight is all a numbers game. Your body has a Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE), which is how many calories your body requires to function. If you eat less than your TDEE, you lose weight, if you eat the same amount you maintain, and if you eat more you gain. When people are bulking, they often go into more detail of what they are putting into their body (i.e x amount of proteins). To find your TDEE you can use this online calculator: https://tdeecalculator.net/

With that being said, you can eat more frequently. Just make sure you are eating nutritious food. That's all you need to do, which is the easiest way.

I would ask what height you are? if you're shorter, this might just be around where your weight naturally falls without all the sugars.

If this is very thin for you, I suggest eating more foods like eggs, peanut butter, so on so forth. They're high in fat and protein without being you know... fried chicken. Basically more calories means more fat, but eggs and nuts are good energy dense foods that won't make you break out. That's the main thing, fatty foods might do hell on your skin, that's what happens to me at least :p

The weight loss sounds normal to me? I go up and down around 10 pounds between the summer and winter, every year, without fail.

Eat more calories. It’s legit that simple. Start tracking your intake with an app. As you go on, start counting your macronutrients, then start counting your micronutrients. You’re not going to become proficient in this overnight, so start small. Just start counting your calories, then aim for eating so many a day, then aim for more, then add in nutrition goals. The more you do it the more you’re learn about what you need/what you’re eating.

This is the same way people lose weight. Dieting is key, and mostly boils down to CICO.

Eat more protein, and lift weights. That way, you gain muscle strength & weight, and it's a very healthy way than just eating more crap food. Don't do cardio, because that's fat burning and you don't want that. Just do exercises that will help gain muscle, and gyms should have a lot of equipment you can work with!

Yeah, the only problem is op wants to gain volume for their clothes, but with some things gaining muscle will make the clothes fit even worse, ie. for me when Im working out my obliques get really sturdy and strong, but in a resting position my waist tends to get smaller, so even if I gained weight the clothes are looser.

I agree that working out is a great idea, but I don't think it will get op what they want I guess? but working out never hurt anyone lol!

Just build muscle. I cannot stress this enough. As you build more muscle, you'll be more snug in your clothes.

i don't think anyone has said this, but swapping drinks that aren't water to water is a huge helper of weight loss- water allows your cells to function and produce energy, and any drink that isn't just water won't be doing that as efficiently as water would be. going from solely fizzy/juice drinks to water would make you lose weight if you're still eating the same amounts, as-

a) the drink will contain calories you're now not getting
b) the new drink, water, allows you to lose weight with more ease

to gain weight, you're gonna have to eat more or work out. eating more in one sitting is often difficult for people, so eat between meals, or invent a new meal by spacing your meals evenly across the day, but with 4, not 3. working out will take far longer.

Don't eat meat.
It's unhealthy.

Give PEAS a chance. ^_^

Up your protein intake and take up strength training to build muscle. Your lean mass to fat ratio is much, much more important than the number on the scale.

You may have lost weight simply because you reduced your sugar intake and started exercising more, which is a good thing. However, unexplained weight loss is always something you should have checked out by your doctor, as it can be an early sign of uncontrolled diabetes.

Asuming you're totally healthy, just increase your protein and calories and work to build muscle. If you don't want to join a gym, look into calisthenics, which you don't need any equipment for.

As others have said, it'd be better to get checked by a doctor first, to make sure it's not the first sign of any disease.
And... I feel a little hesitant but, actually, if you plan to keep the preferred weight in long shot, building up with muscles wouldn't be very suitable, if your life style goes the way how it's going now. Muscle eats more calorie than fat cell, just to stay alive. So, that means you'd need to keep eating more, to not lose the weight, after gaining bigger body size or weight by it.
And, when you get older, muscle cells get easily loose. Which makes you not very sexy. It needs so much efforts to maintain muscles stay look okay when you're older. So.

Also, as for eating, eating more isn't the only way to gain more calories. When the amount you eat are the same when day time and night time, absorption rate of calories from the foods you ate differs. For example, when you eat it during daytime, like 50-60% gets taken in your body. But when you eat the same food after 2 am, this sounds horrible to me but 90-95% of it gets taken in.
I hope you doing nice regardless the weight though!

Thanks for all your responses!

To answer some questions, I'm 5'5 so by BMI, I'm still in an okay range but I'm sliding to the underweight side and it's freaking me out a bit.
Interesting to know about how much effect sugary drinks have on us. I didn't know it would have THAT much of an effect though. It's crazy!

I'll book an appointment with the doctor to make sure I don't have a disease or something cause of course my brain is Telling me I have one. I really hope all those cups of juice didn't cause Diabetes. :c

Thanks for the advice! Looks like I'll be eating lots of protein sources! Meat and non meat of course!
